GAMMA Gossip Edition#8 Review

Global Association of MMA, Fight Organization, London
Company profile by Mentor Guru Corleone

Hi there, GAMMA fanatics! Iiiittttt’sssss tiiiiiiiiime for some more GAMMA Gossip, with me, AC Jimbo. Let’s cut to it and see what’s been going down recently.

Our most recent shows were GAMMA 287 and 288, so there’s no better place to begin than there.

First GAMMA 287: Fedotov v Pennanen, which was a great evening at the Wandalay Bay. The co-main event delivered to us a stunning 52 second knockout win for Jorge Cruz over Thomas Hearns, who just didn’t know what had hit him. Judging by the way he left the cage, it looked quite possible that it had been a freight train. I’ll get it out of the way nice and early: this was another fight that turned out exactly as I had predicted...

Then it was onto the main event, where Juho Pennanen bested Vladik Fedotov, again this was something I told you guys would happen, so hopefully you’ve been following my tips and making yourself a pretty penny down at the bookies! However, the judges saw it a little bit closer than I expected it to be. In fact, if the fight had gone on much longer then I wonder whether my pick would have turned out to be wrong, but as it is the fight was only three rounds and instead I can claim that I knew that was exactly what would happen!

This was then followed quickly by GAMMA 288: Galt v Tanner II. Do I need to say it again? Yep, you know it, both of my predictions for the two big fights when according to my expectations. You can thank me later for the money you’re making on these tips – or better still, just buy me a drink when you see me next time. So newcomer Danny Mangold got off to a winning start to his GAMMA career with the decision win over Ender Wiggin. It may have been left to the judges to make a choice but other than for a few slightly sticky moments in the clinch, it was a pretty easy night for Mangold. His reward is the chance to take on “The Horse Man”.

In the main event Danny Tanner made it 2-0 in his series against John Galt. I can’t see there being much prospect of fans getting too excited about a completion of the trilogy, unless of course they can find a bookie prepared to accept a bet on a third Tanner victory. Galt was no match for him on the ground and so once Tanner had advanced to mount it was only a matter of time before the ref had to jump in and save him.

Now both of those events were excellent quality, but man alive we’ve got some great ones coming up next.

Finally, just a few snippets that I’ve picked up around GAMMA towers in the past few days. First, a little birdie tells me that when Danza Kuduro signed the papers to agree the fight with Degen Gambler, he was already so psyched up that he told everyone in the room that he planned on “beheading the chinless Gambler”. Some laughed, some spluttered, most looked a little anxiously for their nearest exit in case he started to showcase how he would achieve this, but all we know is that is building up to be a hell of a fight. Will we hear anything from Gambler in response?

Also, GAMMA 290 includes a bittersweet moment, as Jack Burton will enter the GAMMA cage one last time. He’s spent pretty much his whole career with GAMMA, and now at the age of 36 has decided that enough is enough. He’s still been quite competitive, so it has come as a bit of a surprise to me that he has decided not to continue further. He will be sure to receive a great send-off from the fans, win or lose.

That is all for now, catch ya next time!
