CCoR – Nieds vs. Bourne PREVIEW!

This Wednesday the 27th, we feature CCoR: Nieds vs. Bourne! Our Main event spotlights 6’7, John Bourne, as he attempts to de-thrown 2-time Heavyweight Champion, Todd Nieds! Also on the card, a Bantamweight matchup guaranteed to bring the house down! Billy Bomber looks to bounce back from a disappointing loss as he takes on rising Japanese star, Akira Ishikawa! And a pivotal bout at 265 to see who’s next in line for the title! Folks, this event is a don’t-want-to-miss! Get your tickets NOW before they sell out!

*MAIN EVENT Heavyweight Title Bout:  Todd Nieds (18-12) vs.  “Johnny” John Bourne (17-6-1)

I’m excited about this heavyweight title fight! Here we have two of the best heavyweights in CCoR going head-to-head which will no doubt be incredible. Champion, Todd Nieds is great in the clinch & loves the elbows which he uses to cut his opponents open before going for the finish which I’m sure is part of his strategy against John Bourne. He also possesses power in both hands which he will be looking to utilize along with his aggressive style. In his last bout, it took Todd just 31 seconds to put Mark Sutter away. Bourne, the native of North Dakota will have a huge size advantage over the champion which he will certainly look to use.  Bourne boasts a record of 17-6-1, a much more consistent record with his last 3 wins coming by knockout and submission. He’s on a roll right now but can he go all the way? John should look to use his boxing prowess and size to bully Todd where he can get the emphatic finish if he wants to win this thing. John believes Todd is just a “Paper Champion.”

Prediction:  I believe John Bourne has the advantage here. He’s younger, bigger, stronger, & has momentum. He needs to avoid those brutal elbows where he could potentially get opened up. John will out-strike the champion winning the belt via TKO.

Co-Main Event Bantamweight Bout: “Bomber” Billy Bomber (12-10) vs. Akira “Little Samurai” Ishikawa (22-10)

Our Co-main event features two of CCoR’s brightest prospects @ 135. When Billy Bomber & Akira Ishikawa enter the cage, this will be World War II all over again. Billy, 1-1 in CCoR is anxious to bounce back from his disappointing 1st round loss to Enitan Olufunmilola. In his first fight, he obliterated Lewis McLay in just 20 seconds & says to look for a repeat performance against Akira. Billy has a sizeable advantage in the striking depart & that’s where he will no doubt shine. He needs to use his versatility to offset Akira before going for the finish. He will need to be patient here. The Japanese star, dubbed “Little Samurai” made an impressive debut in January, submitting Leo Cristophe in just less than 2 minutes. Akira should look to setup his takedowns with feints & take the fight to the floor where he will have the advantage. Will Billy Bomber “bomb” the Japanese? With a win this Wednesday, could Akira put himself in position to contend for the title? Only time will tell…

Prediction: This battle will most likely end quickly. This is going to be a striker vs. grappler matchup for sure. I’m leaning towards the striker, Billy, who I see finishing Akira on the feet. Billy via TKO

Heavyweight Bout: Captain America (6-2) vs. Adam “The Atom” Bomb (5-1)

I guess we continue on with more bombs & patriotic references for our next line-up. We move back into the Heavyweight division folks as Captain America takes on Adam Bomb. Both men have solid records but its Captain America who is looking to bounce back from a terrible loss where we saw him lose in just less than one minute. During that minute he was butchered in the clinch so bad, news reporters came out of hiding complaining about how barbaric the sport was. I digress, but his opponent Adam is also fired up & is looking to build on his 2-fight win streak. A win tomorrow night could put him in contention for the title. As they say, just keep winning. The Captain will need to get this fight to the ground a.s.a.p. which will prove difficult against Adam who has an excellent wrestling game. Adam has more ways to win & should focus on keeping the fight on the feet. Now something to note: Adam, the striker is a ridiculously short heavyweight fighter at 5’7 and weighing 280lbs. This man has T-Rex arms for Christ’s sake! Captain America is a more fitted Heavyweight standing 6’4, 270. The tremendous reach may provide him an advantage over the stocky, more well-rounded Adam, but it’s going to be very difficult for him to finish. Also, we must factor in cardio so this will be one to pay close attention to.

Prediction: I’m going to say Adam simply for his well-roundedness & wrestling advantage but can he get inside of the long and rangy Captain America & touch his chin? We’ll find out tomorrow night!

Light-Heavyweight Bout: Mike Roussow (4-2) vs. Leonard “Streetlife” Washington (13-10)

Prediction:  Leonard is the more experienced fighter by far. Not only that, he is the more skilled fighter on paper. Mike on the other hand should look to use his reach in this fight to stay on the outside & pepper Leonard with strikes. But this is a game, & details such as these aren’t factored very heavily. Skills are what counts. I predict a Leonard victory via TKO.

Middleweight Bout: James Masterson (22-15) vs. Sid “Nexus” Taylor (22-17)

Prediction: Two very evenly matched fighters with near identical records. This battle will come down to strategy & who wants it more. This fight is too closed to call. Bookmakers will have a tough time with this one…

Heavyweight Bout: “The Chief” James Green (22-18) vs. “No Quit” Carlos Doghoon (8-8)

Prediction: This is a unique contest here between two talented fighters. “The Chief” is a well-rounded fighter that seems so go on both winning & losing streaks.  His opponent Carlos is less consistent, sporting an 8-8 professional record. I believe Green will have the advantage here with his confidence & current 6-fight win streak. I choose him to defeat the tenacious, Doghoon.

Light-Heavyweight Bout: “Fire” Brand Eideann (4-1) vs. Alfonso Lopez (4-1)

Both of these men are 4-1 with Alfonso making his debut tomorrow night. Unless He wilts under the bright lights of CCoR, I see Alfonso taking this fight by TKO & moving his record to 5-1.

Light-Heavyweight Bout: Gunner Reed (3-0-1) vs. Yukii Ogata (6-7)

Prediction: We have the “oh so familiar”, Striker vs. Grappler matchup.  Although Gunner is American & Yukii is Japanese they both look eerily similar…like brothers… Anyhow, I hope Gunner is training that defensive grappling as he’ll need it against Yukii. I’m betting he comes prepared to grapple with the Japanese fighter if it comes to this. I see Gunner scoring a knockout in this one folks.

Middleweight Bout: Travis “Jiu” Faure (15-21) vs. “Submission Machine” Larry Monthan (10-10)

Prediction: On paper, Travis has the clear advantage sporting double-digit primaries.  Now This doesn’t always signify an immediate win however when you take a look at their respective records, neither fighter are world beaters. I have to go with Travis by KO here.

Heavyweight Bout: Sentinel “The Traitor” Prime (8-7) vs. “Meathead” Matt Mitrione (6-3)

Prediction:  Sentinel’s game plan will no doubt be to keep this on the feet. Matt will want to use hs ground game to stifle the “Traitor”. I’m a fan of strikers but I’m honest. Sentinel should take this unless he comes unprepared. Yes, that is my final answer!

Folks, CCoR is going to be unbelievable! I predict many a KO’s tomorrow night & we all love knockouts don’t we? This is a show you don’t want to miss, taking place at Hyashi’s Lounge in Sydney, Australia! I’m on the plane as we speak! I’ll see you tomorrow folks!
