UPF 25: Kuo vs Swain was a mixed martial arts event held by Ultimate Pit Fighting on March 9, 2013 at Hayashi's Lounge in Hilo, Hawaii.

Official Fight Card

-[Light-heavyweight bout]: Shen Jen Kuo def. David Swain via Submission (Kimura) at 1:30 of round 1.

-[Review]: In the main event, Swain did everything in his in his power to knock Kuo out. He landed every punch he threw and avoided the clinch attempts of hie foe. In the end, Jen Kuo got the takedown and locked in a kimura.

-[Heavyweight bout]: Ichabod Crane def. YB Sol Jr via Unanimous Decision.

-[Review]: YB Sol Jr shocked us all with his game plan of bringing Crane to the ground. Pundits predicted a plausible sprawl and brawl leading to a finish for the striker, YB Sol, yet the fight was anything but. It all came down to a contest of who could stay on top and both fighters had their moments. In the end, Crane did just enough to eek out a decision.

-[Heavyweight bout]: Richard Tavarius def. Frank Dunham via KO (Head Kick) at 4:57 of round 1.

-[Review]: This fight was intended to be a fun fight between two veterans to help fill the card. The wrestler, Richard Tavarius, vowed to keep this fight standing despite his edge in the grappling department. Frank Dunham, the boxer, seemed hell bent on making Tavarius wrestle. This was clearly a mistake on the part of Dunham's management and Dunham paid the price for it.

-[Middleweight bout]: Zack Barch def. Buddy Stevens def. Submission (Kimura) at 3:07 of round 1.

-[Review]: Another one-sided beat down. Zack Barch took this fight to the ground. Once there, he scored with ground n pound and went for submission after submission before finally locking in the fight ending kimura.

-[Welterweight bout]: Jesse Banner def. Casey Jones via TKO (Punches) at 1:54 of round 2.

-[Review]: Jones had his way with Banner in the first round but the second round was clearly all Jesse Banner. After staving off the grappling attempts early, he scored with devastating punches en route to stopping Casey Jones.

-[Middleweight bout]: Suriya Pinphet def. Jeremy Kroft via Submission (Strikes) at 2:25 of round 3.

-[Review]: In this contest between two strikers, you would assume the more experienced man would have the supreme edge. However, Pinphet won his first professional victory in the cage by forcing the clinch against his Muay Thai specialist opponent and crushing him with dirty boxing, damaging knees, and slicing elbows. God help anyone that decides to stand and bang with Pinphet.

-[Heavyweight bout]: Arnold Vegh def. Rickson Gracie via Unanimous Decision.

-[Review]: Arnold Vegh completely shut down the submission game of Rickson Gracie here with superior grappling and control. This was overall a fantastic showing for Vegh.

-[Middleweight bout]: Mauricio Calvancante def. Stefan Pruvhe via Submission (Armbar) at 1:48 of round 1.

-[Review]: This was as one-sided as it gets. Calvancante took Pruvhe down and submitted him on the fourth try.

-[Welterweight bout]: Maxim Markov def. Glin Burman via Submission (Arm Triangle) at 2:35 of round 2.

-[Review]: Maxim Markov almost made it seem effortless to beat his foe. He landed all four of his leg kick attempts and scored takedown after takedown en route to a fantastic submission finish.

-[Bantamweight bout]: Demetrious Johnson Jr def. Josh Thai via Unanimous Decision.

-[Review]: This was a grueling contest of grappling. Despite his name, Josh Thai sought to instigate as many takedowns as his opponent. Despite his intentions, Josh Thai was simply outgunned in this fight by a superior grappler.
