 “BRFC9: Rise & Glory” Event Preview

 

 

Battle Royale Fighting Championship returns to The Underground – Tokyo arena once again on April 27th to bring you “BRFC9: Rise & Glory”. 10 exciting fights are in store on the night including a featherweight title fixture which is certain to be packed with explosive!

 

Main Event: Akira Yasuharu (5-0-0) vs Black “Death” Hand (2-0-0) – 145lbs featherweight title

 

Featherweight champion, Akira Yasuharu has successfully defended his title against Jamille Sedfenor in “BRFC6: Sunday Rage”, having dispatched the Philippine star in a mere thirty seconds.  The Japanese standout has simply breezed through all his opponents throughout his career, proving to be the true champion he is. Meanwhile, Black Hand has quickly been making a name for himself.  The Bangkok native, “Death” has demonstrated his vicious and devastating Muay Thai skills in his two professional fights within the organisation to gather enough attention and propel him immediately to title contention. With his remarkable striking ability, he may just prove to be the toughest test for the Japanese champion to date.

 

Co-main Event: “No Safety” Parachute Man (4-0-0) vs Peter “The Machine” Jackson (3-4-0) – 170lbs welterweight

 

In the welterweight division we have top level grappler, Parachute Man taking on Muay Thai expert, Peter Jackson as part of the night’s co-main event. “No Safety” Parachute Man possesses excellent takedown offense, having almost 80 percent success rate from all his professional bouts. He had shown his dominance with the wrestling and ground game in his last fight against Hazel Rampage at “BRFC5: No Man’s Fool”. The Brit, Peter Jackson may have so far seen mixed results in his seven fight professional career. After his most recent TKO victory over Michael Miller at “BRFC4: Fighting Spirit”, another spectacular win may see him emerging as a top contender. But that will all depends on if he has what it takes to get pass top welterweight, Parachute Man, who himself has his eye on a title shot should he be the victor on Saturday night.

 

Michael “Eyedea” Larsen (3-1-0) vs Takeru "柔術の" Masaru (1-0-0) – 155lbs lightweight

 

Former title contender, Michael Larsen will take on undefeated Japanese star, Takeru Masaru in the lightweight division. The American, “Eyedea” Larsen will be looking to rebound from his first ever defeat by the hands of champion, Misuaksual Lutuka at “BRFC5: No Man’s Fool”, in order to get back into the title picture. It had only took grappling standout, Masaru under 40 seconds to secure his first victory on his debut. He will be looking to us his wrestling and BJJ skills to take on BJJ brown belt, Michael Larsen.

 

Illias “The Tazmanian Beast” Stefano (4-1-0) vs “The Hawk” Yamamoto Takamura (2-0-0) – 170lbs welterweight

 

After one of the most impressive start to his Battle Royale Fighting Championship career, having literally dominated and beat down every one of his opponents, Illias Stefano succumbed to his first ever defeat at the hands of the welterweight champion, Matthew Connor at “BRFC6: Sunday Rage”. It was a tough defeat for the strong “Tazmanian Beast” Stefano, but he aims to come back stronger than before and unleash his rage on the next challenge before him. Standing in his way will be Yamamoto Takamura. Hailing from Hiroshima, “The Hawk” Takamura possesses good boxing and wrestling skills, which he utilize ever so well to dominate fights, as he had demonstrated in his unanimous decision victory over Will Ostermeyer at “BRFC5: No Man’s Fool”. It will be a tough contest between these two as the cage door closes behind them on the night of “BRFC9: Rise & Glory”.

 

Ryo “Typhoon” Matsuoka (1-0-0) vs Saki Rojo (2-1-0) – 185lbs middleweight

 

Karate expert, Ryo Matsuoka will take on determined grappling specialist, Saki Rojo in the middleweight division. “Typhoon” Matsuoka had dazzled the fans with his impressive striking ability as he took out Kazimierz Deyna at “BRFC6: Sunday Rage” on his professional MMA debut. He will be looking to repeat his success as he steps in the cage with the Andorran, Saki Rojo. The BJJ purple belt, Rojo secured a triangle armbar victory in the first round over the now retired, Apollo Buttchecks when he last fought at “BRFC6: Sunday Rage”, also making quite an impression on his Battle Royale Fighting Championship debut. These two middleweight warriors will see who utilize their game plan to perfection as the cage door closes.

 

“Meister” Maka Albarn (1-1-0) vs Salvatore “Slayer” Moretti (4-0-0) – 170lbs welterweight

 

Two new additions facing off in the already talented packed welterweight division will be Maka Albarn up against Salvatore Moretti. “Meister” Albarn is a tough brawler who possesses a purple BJJ belt will look to make a name for himself amongst the ranks in the welterweight division. His opponent may already be one step ahead of him, at least outside of BRFC. Upon signing for the organisation, the Italian submission specialist, “Slayer” Moretti had notched up four impressive victories to see him being crowded a QFC tournament champion in the regional circuit. He will look to continue the success in his Battle Royale Fighting Championship career, starting with a tough test in Maka Albarn.

 

Ramon “Tio” Monzon (1-1-0) vs Jan “Jasio” Jarzynski (1-1-0) – 170lbs welterweight

 

Also in the welterweight division, Muay Thai fighter, Ramon Monzon will take on tough brawler, Jan Jarzynski. Argentinian, “Tio” Monzon will be entering the BRFC cage for the first time making his debut. “Jasio” Jarzynski will be on hand to welcome him as he looks to get back on win column himself since his “Fight of the Night” defeat at the hands of Bruce Forsyth at “BRFC5: No Man’s Fool”.

 

Helios “Animus” Garcius (1-2-0) vs Roberto “Fonzie” Fantuzzi (0-1-0) – 185lbs middleweight

 

Their will be a European battle in the middleweight division as Greece’s own, Helios Garcius takes on Italy’s Roberto Fantuzzi. The ever determined “Animus” Garcius has yet to earn his first win inside the BRFC cage. He will have the task of welcoming “Fonzie” Fantuzzi to Battle Royale Fighting Championship as he is set to make his debut with the organisation. Both men are evenly matched as good boxers with good wrestling abilities, which will make for an exciting middleweight battle.

 

Jacob “Bomber” McCallister (1-1-0) vs Sergio “Sexy Peanut” Moreira (0-2-0) – 155lbs lightweight

 

Entering the BRFC cage for the first time on the night will be Jacob McCallister making his debut against Sergio Moreira. The American, “Bomber” McCallister is a determined fighter looking to make an impression with his solid boxing skills. The Brazilian brawler, “Sexy Peanut” Moreira is still in search of his first MMA win and will be looking to do all he can to secure it on the night against McCallister.

 

Wesley “The Grim Reaper” Reaper (1-2-0) vs “Monster” Ula Cleo (1-3-0) – 145lbs featherweight

 

Opening the night’s fight card on “BRFC9: Rise & Glory” will be two featherweights looking to get back in the win column. The Belgian, Wesley Reaper lasted entered the BRFC cage at “BRFC5: No Man’s Fool, having dropped a decision against Herman Scheffer. The Polish, Ula Cleo is riding on a string of three straight defeats, two of them being devastating TKOs during his time at Battle Royale Fighting Championship. “The Grim Reaper” will be looking to rely on his confidence in his Muay Thai skills as he tackles with “Monster” Cleo’s high level BJJ brown belt to see who will walk away with the W…
