Wow! What a weekend we had here. Besides the UFC's night of the living eye poke and the nastiness that became Bones's toe, we also had a great couple nights of fights here at Blunt Force Trauma. We have a great 2 part Review special, so strap in and be ready.

BFT 199 - PRIDE Never Die! 4

The weekend began with the return of BFT's PRIDE Never Die! series. For those not familiar, this is the rare opportunity to fight under PRIDE rules: fighting in a ring instead of BFT's traditional cage, 2-10 minute rounds, the fight judged on the entirety instead of round based judging. The whole sha-bang! So with out further adue, let's take a look at the fighters on the main card.

Lightweight - Alex Rodriguez Unanimous Decisions Kamal "Siddartha" Abahalani Kampur.

This one got started and Rodriguez brought the fight right to the ground. From there, Rodriguez was throwing down his fists like an angry gorilla. He kept tossing punch after punch at him, and he gound great success in it. Kampur was tossing and turning, but he was not able to get up at all. He just had no success with it. Some how he was able to endure the punishment and make his way into the second round. The second round got started and Rodriguez figured if it ain't broke, don't fix it. That kind of mentality showed how much he wanted to win this fight. He ended up landing 90 of his 99 ground shots. Now this really tells me one of two things. 1) Kamal Abahalani Kampur has a fantastic chin and anyone who fights him should be ready for that. or 2) Alex Rodriguez needs to hit the weights a little more so he can put people away. Now you can choose to believe whichever you want, but the one thing I know is that this was a great outing by Alex Rodriguez showing the lightweights of the world to not let him get on top of them.

What's next for Alex? Give that he is a undefeated up-and-comer in the lightweight division, fights with whiley vets such as Olof Hellstrom, Madara Uchiha, and Derek Scarlatti seem enticing. If none of those really entice him and he was looking to really push himself, he could look at Janek Kochanowski or even Spar Bjj to really see where he sits.

Welterweight - Frank "The Sledge" Hammer submits Yolo "Lol" Swag with a kimura at 2:23 in round 1.

Swag was doing well on the feet, he landed some solid combinations and fended off some takedowns. But then things got a little confusing. He went into the clinch and pulled gaurd, even though Hammer clearly had the better jiu jitsu credentials. Oh well, yolo. He immediately regreted the decision, and tried to get back to his feet, but that proved to be an useless effort. Once Hammer got comfortable on the ground, he tried to sink in a few submissions. He was finally able to lock in a nasty kimura.

What's next for Hammer? The BFT newcomer showed his stuff on the ground early so far throughout his career. If he wants to go up against another BJJ specialist, I would say that Damien Maia could provide an interesting match up. If he was looking to go up against with a little more... substance behind his name, Igor Wietrzny looks free.

Heavyweight - Frank Stevens submits Zachary "Big Daddy" Bronson with a rear-naked choke at 2:24 in round 1.

Right off the bat, Stevens took things to the ground. From there He took advantage of Bronson on the ground. His worked his way towards towards full moount on the ground and once he got there, he chipped away at Bronson with submission attempts until he was finally able to get him with a rear naked.

What's next for Frank? 4 fights, 4 first round submissions, 2 submission of the night bonuses. I really like a match-up against Luke Summers, the two guys seem like they would have a great fight. For people to really check out his ground game, I think Jonas Underwood and Joe Kimura would oblige to the call to arms. For a chin check, I would say January Kwiecinski and former title challenger Shogun BDown would make good matches.

Co-Main - Light Heavyweight - "Mr." Bones Jones knocks out Gerlach Rutger with strikes at 59 seconds in round 1.

Bones came out and was ready to throw down. He threw out a few punches right out of the bat and lands a few solid shots that cut open Rutger. He went to try and take things down to the ground, but Jones was well prepared. He kept it on him, landing at will. He was able to drop Rutger with an amazing combination, and wanted to finish him off on the feet as well. Another big right was bale to put him down again. One final right hand Sent Rutger down for good.

What's next for "Mr." Bones Jones? With 8 knockouts in a row, Jones is looking red hot. I honestly want to see him sweat it against a solid wrestler. Put him in the ring against a Floyd Pacquiao or a Jack Dempsey and we'll see how he fares. Otherwise, maybe a throwdown with Wolf West could be interesting.

Main Event - Middleweight - Miau Subsi submits Ben Zanotto with a triangle choke at 3:47 in round 2.

Things kicked off with Zanotto bringing things briefly into the clinch before taking the fight to the ground. From there (and the rest of the round for that matter), it was a battle of wills. Zanotto was trying to keep all over Subsi while landing some solid punishment. Meanwhile, Subsi was tring to end thing by breaking Zanotto's will via submission. The round ended with Zanotto looking well on top, but both men looked like they had left it out there in the first. The second round got a-kicking, and Zanotto brought things right back down to the ground. The two keep to work on their respective game plans, but Zanotto was getting sloppy. He allowed for a sweep to get through and even though he was able to get back on top subsi had decided to strike. He worked on a triangle for a while and Zanotto was trying to escape them. He got out of the first one, but the second one was locked in there tight. He was stubborn and though he could get out of there, but he went to sleep instead! Subsi submissions sure sucker some sensaional stoppages.

What's next for the Croatian? Joe Williams and Antoine Dodson seem like fair challenges to me. Former Champs Amir Khan and Damian Nitschke would also provide interesting grappling matches. Lucas Rodriguez would also provide a great Striker vs grappler match-up.

Undercard results:

265 - "Rat" January Kwiecinski - TKO2 - Jayne Cobb
170 - Pranang Krampuk - UD - Zibraaz Cava
155 - Crack "Saw" Hack - TKO1 - Eric Eel
185 - Uriah "Primetime" Hall - UD - Michael Hinton

BFT-200: Longevity Review

In the momentus occasion that is BFT - 200, the mad man that is Antonius Proximo had created a card riddled in stars. Besides the fact that this card had a title defence from every champion in the organization currently, but it also had fantastic outtings from other BFT namestays. Hall of Famers Guilherme Alves and Matt Miller all had fights on the card, as well as the first man, Pithe Canthropus!!! Then on top of that all, every fight on the card was slated for 5 minutes! Not only that, but this even blew the BFT rating out of the water! It was a 60+ increase to an event rating of 367.37! In the event of this momentous occasion, we'll take a peak at every fight. Let's dive right in.

Under Card:

Middleweight - Former Welterweight Title Challenger Chev Chelios Majority Decisioned Former Title Holder Akihito Tatsuhiko Jr.

Talk about a way to start things! The bell started the fight and it looked like Chelios wanted to end things immediately. He landed a few shots that cut open Tatsuhiko and another few that sent him to the mat and rocked him. He was able to fend off Chev's offence and able to take things down to the ground. From there he was able to get a little bit of punishment off, but Chelios did not seem as worried as Tatsuhiko should have been earlier in the round. The second round got started and Chelios was maintaining dominance on the feet, but Tatsuhiko brought things back down to the ground and was trying to make sure that Chev had respect for him. He was landing some nice shots and had gotten Chelios slightly scared of a guillotine attempt. Tatsuhiko was able to keep him down and bring forth a little pain. The third round got rolling around and Chev was tired of laying on his back. He pushed forward and Kept on Tatsuhiko like white on rice. Akihito tried to drag things back down to the ground after the previous round's success, but Chelios wasn't having any of it. He kept going forward and lading some solid punches. Tatsuhiko landed some good shots of his own, but Chelios was totally in control of that round. The fourth round got started and wouldn't you know it Chelios sent another combo to Jr. that had him hitting the mat once again. Chelios wanted to finish things quickly after that, but Tatsuhiko kept in it. He brought things down to the ground towards the end of the round trying to get things going there again, but it wasn't enough to really recover after that amazing shot that Chelios landed. The fifth round got started, and it was clear that Tatsuhiko was behind on the cards. Chelios went forward and tried to bring on the pain, but Tatsuhiko was able to drive forward and get the fight back to the ground. The ref stood things back up, but after a few more shots Tatsuhiko brought things back to the ground. He was trying to land a few nice shots, but it wasn't enough and Chelios was able to walk away with the decision.

What's next for Chev? After 4 in a row against top competition, a shot at the title is not out of the question.Ben Zanotto, who won the night before at BFT 199, is also a reasonable guy for him to fight. Maybe a future bout with Amir Khan. Or you know, He could move back down to the welterweight division and take another shot down there. Hell, after a performance like tonight, the world's his oyster.

Light Heavyweight - Former Title Holder Shananigan Lurendrejer knocked out Trinidad Suarez at 1:23 in round 5.

This one started off with Lurendrejer taking things to the mat. Once he got down there, he was working him over with punches real good like. He stayed on top of him a toupe on a bald man. Unfortunately the ref got restless and brought the fight back to the feet. That did not last long however, since soon after Suarez took things down. He worked hard down there, but it could not compensate for the earlier punishment he took from Shananigan. The second round got started, but Lurendrejer decided he was happy to be on the mat. From there he worked hard from the top, but the ref still wasn't having any of their ground stuff. But Lurendrejer didn't care what the ref though of his ground work and almost immediately brought the fight back to the ground. He kept it on Suarez, a little too much. He missed a shot from the top and Suarez used the momentum to wind up on top, but the moment was short lived as the round was coming to a close. The third round got started and the two of them traded for a few moments before Shananigan took things to the mat again. I couldn't blame him with the success he was having. From there Suarez took a beating from inside his gaurd. He just kept getting punched in the face over and over and over. I mean he tried to be defensive and get out of that bad position, but it just never seemed to work. The fourth round took place mostly on the feet, but Lurendrejer looked really good there too. It just seemed as though Suarez had no answer for the offense the Shananigan put forward. Towards the end of the round, Lurendrejer got a takedown for good measure. The fifth round was starting and Suarez needed to put something really good together to take it, but Lurendrejer put him right back on his back. While he was on top, he was able to sit in side control and land enough devasting ground and pound punches to send Suarez out of the cage.

What's next for Lurendrejer? Hopefully, he'll continue to be signed with BFT, cause there are a number of good fights for him still here. Rematches with Antoine Wallace, "Tko" Kahoohalphala, MacMillan, andMukassa Jones all look nice. Not to mention a possible throwdown with Master Enki if he's looking for some new blood.

Mid Card:

Lightweight - The Undefeated former BFT Lightweight champion and Hall of Famer Matt Miller Unanimous Decisioned MMATycoon's alpha, the "First Man" Pithe Canthropus

Canthropus started with a number of low kicks, only to be countered early by a solid Miller takedown. The two of them exchanged punches-for-submission attempts, until Canthropus switched things up and was able to get on top. From there he was able to land a little bit of pain on Miller until the ref broke them up. Soon after, Miller brought things to the ground once more. Miller was able to hold on to top position this time and land some decent ground and pound on Pithe's head before the round came to a close. The second round got started and Canthropus took things to the mat right away. From there he worked on a few futile submissions before moving on to some ground and pound. After a while, he recklessly went after a leg for a heel hook, but saw that he misjudged the situation. But it was already took late and Miller had hopped into his gaurd. Even though Miller was on top and working that ground and pound angle of the fight, Canthropus kept throwing up those submissions knowing that one small mistake could easily turn the fight into his favor. Unfortunately, it wasn't in the second round as Miller walked away with that one. The third round got started and Pithe knew he was running behind on the cards. He kept on Miller throwing leg kicks and combinations for a while. He was having success on the feet and Matt Miller didn't really have much of an answer for that. Canthropus was able to take Miller down and hold him down on his back for the rest of the round, all while throwing some punches and such in his face. The fourth round went underway, and Canthropus had some momentum going for him. He kept bringing it to Miller on the feet and Miller didn't have too much of an answer for him. He kept throwing the takedowns out there, but he wasn't terribly successful at them. And as if he were working on clockwork, Pithe took the fight to the mats once more at approximately the same time he did in the last round. He kept looking for that submission finish, but Miller is not the kind of guy to give in that easily. The fifth round got started and the fighters seemed to be about even, with two rounds each. This round was the do or die time for them. Miller knew the last few rounds did not look good for him, so he quickly brought things into the clinch where he was able to get a takedown fairly early. From there, Miller stayed on top trying to finish Canthropus with the ground and pound. Canthropus tried to wiggle his way back to the feet, but unfortunately before he could get anything off, the bell sounded off. In such a competitive fight, it was Matt Miller who walked away with his hand raised, but both fighters were able to walk away with their heads held high.

What's next for Matt Miller? Hopefully a long and healthy career. I forsee that he will probably be on his way to another org soon to take over and look like the superstar he is. Maybe one day we will see a return for Matt Miller to see if he still has what it takes to walk away with the BFT Lightweight Belt.

Middleweight Title! - "Xavante Xernobyl" Hermio Junior KO'ed recently crowned champ Damian Nitschke with punches at 39 seconds of the very first round to become the new middleweight champion.

Junior was really rocking this. He came out there and started cutting Nitschke early. After that, he threw a combination that sent him down, but not out. Junior stayed on him and took him out with a giant uppercut. Talk about power punching.

What's next for the newly crowned champ? This was a huge step-up in competition and he showed he has what it takes to swim with the big fishes. There are two names that really jump out at me. There's a guy currently riding a 3 fight winning streak, Miau Subsi, who could pose some realy problems on the ground at any moment. And the former welterweight title challenger Chev Chelios looked real good lately as well. He could take a pretty nice swing at the title.

Lightweight Title! - Champion "Kana" Kuroda Atsushi looked to defend his title for a fourth time in the rematch against one of his title challengers Victor Bonifacio but fought to a Draw!

Things got underway and the two of these guys just went at it. They hit the clinch breifly, but Neither guy really out did the other there. Back at the distance the two of these guys just went to town on each other. They kept trading... these two guys really looked like there was bad blood between them. The one thing that slowed down their exchanges is takedown that Atsushi scored. Not too terrily much happened there, but it happened! The second round got kicking and the two of them got to exchanging once again. They were exchanging shots back and forth. Kicks and punches. Just constant action. The round ended with Bonifacio looked great. He was just landing so much. The third began much like the second, with both men landing fast and frequent. Bonifacio brought the fight into the clinch breifly, where he looked pretty goot, but it was short lived and the two men went back into the center of the ring. Atsushi then grought the fight to the ground quickly where he was able to control the fight towards the end of the round. It looked like Atsushi was doing better of the two in that round, but it's still a close fight. The fourth round got going and the two men found themselves on the mats again, with Atsushi taking the top position. The ref brought the two back on the feet, and it appeared as though the crowd was on their feet too. They were really enjoying the action put forth by both of these warriors. The went on to the end of another round but Atsushi was looking to secure things in the final round. The final round got started with a breif exchange at the distance before Atsushi moved the fight into the clinch, but it was Bonifacio that seemed to be landing more there. They broke up and the two guys were throwing it all our there. They tried to end things, but neither man seemed to land that one punch that could end the fight. They really wanted to take each other out. With a controversial first round scoring, the two men walked away not knowing the champion between them. Some would argue that they both are top champion quantity but I guess we won't find out here.

What's next for these two? Fortunately, this is completely out of my hands. The rematch between these two is already scheduled, so stay tuned to BFT to find out the exciting conclusion to this fight.

Main Card:

Heavyweight - 3 time BFT bonus winner "Overeem" Jason Hannibal KO'ed former title challenger "Lord" Kim Jong with punches at 17 seconds of the first round.

Hannibal came in, landed a combo, then a leg kick, then another combo tha turned Kim's lights out. Game set match.

What's next for "Overeem"? Again, already out of my hands. We have the next Heavyweight Title Challenger coming out of this match.

Light Heavyweight Title! - Champion "Lone Star" Dallas MacMillan Knocked 37 time BFT vet, 3 time BFT title challenger, and 8 time BFT bonus winner Antoine "A-Train" Wallace with strikes at 3:09 of the second round.

The fight started with the two trading. Things looked grim for MacMillan in the first few seconds when a cut got opened on his face. The two men fought at the distance in the entirety of the round and they got at it. It looked like MacMillan was doing great things, but the damage that Wallace was able to put on MacMillan was undeniable. The second round got off and they clinched themselves up against the cage. The two exchanged... kinda. They were exchanging in the sence that MacMillan was landing and Wallace was receiving it. A knee to the head had Wallace on wobbly legs. Another one sent Wallace to the mat.

What's next for the champion? As far as people ready for a title shot, the list is pretty short. We hav e the possible rematch with "Tko" Kahoohalphala, or new matches against against Bones Jones or Bob Saddi.

Lightweight - Owner of a 6 fight winning streak "Pehlwan Monster" Mohammed Ul Haq knocked out former champion and Hall of Famer Guilherme "Buscape" Alves with strikes at 2:55 in round 2.

The two guys got to trading at the distance and in the clinch, but neither one of these guys were spetacular. Alves landed a great elbow that cut open the brow of Ul Haq. Ul Haq got the takedown soon after and things got a little more interesting. It was a competition between Alves's submission attempts against Ul Haq's ground and pound. Alves kept at it but was not particularly successful. On the other hand, Ul Haq was able to land some solid ground and pound and even rocked Alves right at the end of the round. Alves did not have it all together when the second round started. By the time that Alves was able to get it back together enough, Ul Haq was able to get the fight back on the ground. Alves continued with the submission attempts, but Ul Haq kept on the ground and pound until the ref jumped in and stopped the fight.

What's next for the "Pehlwan Monster"? With the lightweight title tied up, he could face some good competition against "The Book" Saga and Spar Bjj. Elijah Cao could bring an interesting fight as well.

Co-Main - Heavyweight Title! - Champion Hagen "The Barbarian" Germanicus knocked out Pete "War Machine" Tippin with strikes at 4:57 in the first round for the seventh time.

The fight got started and Germanicus took the fight to the ground pretty quick. Once they brought the fight back to the feet, Tippin wasted no time to cut Hagen with a solid jab. They continued to trade and found their way to the clinc again. Then back at the distance, a huge uppercut cut Tippin open. Tippin drove the fight back into the clinch, but Germanicus was landing the dirty boxing and looked good. He landed a solid cross at the distance and Tippin was rocked. Germanicus took this oppurtunity to bring the fight to the ground and ended things with some strong ground and pound.

What's next for "The Barbarian"? Like I mentioned, the champ is already booked with the other winner on the main card, Hannibal.

Main Event - Welterweight Title! - Champion and winner of 9 BFT bonuses Super Hans knocked out BFT vet Chumba "La Bamba" Wumba with punches at 4:23 in round 2 for his 4th title defence.

At the distance Hans landed his fair share of good shots, but Wumba was keeping on it and countering where he could. It still seemed that Hans was too much for "La Bamba" to take. Hans worked on a double leg takedown, and it worked out. Between the submission attempts and ground and pound, Hans was the better of the two men on the ground. Wumba worked his way into the next round. Hans looked well at the distance and even landed a breif takedown. He wasn't able to do anything with it, but Hans still was able to take it down. After dominating on the feet, Wumba tried to move into the clinch for a better shot. Hans still took advantage of the situation. He landed some nice short punches that rocked Wumba, after a few more minutes of Hans's hands he was able to put Wumba away before the start of the third round.

What's next for Super Hans? The list is short with challengers at the moment at welterweight. Barring any newcommer coming in and getting the shot, we could see fighters such as Rhydrei Camo, Pranang Krampuk, or even Georges St. Pierre getting a title shot soon. I, personally, think that he will look for a super fight until a clear contender makes his mark in the org. A move down to lightweight provides entertaining matchups with Suchart "Fishbowl" or "Buscape" Alves. A bump up to Middleweight and we could see Damian Nitschke or another go around with Chev Chelios. I think the champ has prenty of options he can discuss about.

And Finally we have a new entry into the BFT Hall of Fame...

~~~ 13-2-1 (BFT), 4 FOTN, 3KOTN, 7 SOTN ~~~ At BFT - 39, Ken Tentheros made his Blunt Force Trauma premier. It was the first of many submission of the night victories. He has two setbacks on his BFT Record, Former Light Heavyweight champions Lincoln Burrows and Jake the Snake. Mean while, he has victories over perennial contender Titus Kahoohalphala, BFT staple Antoine "A-Train" Wallace, and recently crowned champ Dallas MacMillan. He currently holds the record for the most title defences of all BFT Light Heavyweights, including a two part hard fight against Drasek Riven. With 8 submissions and 3 knockouts, it is my pleasure to introduce "The Dime" Ken Tentheros to the BFT Hall of Fame!
