BFT - 206 Hard Knock Life 5 Review

Middleweight - Former champion Amir "Scorpion" Khan Submit BFT Returnee Legionarivs "Apocolyptic" Sakara with an armbar at 4:56 in round 1.

The fight got started, and it had appeared as though it were already almost over. Sakara landed a nice shot that knocked down, rocked, and cut open Khan. They stood up and Sakara knocked Khan back down. Khan was able to hold on and got the fight back onto the feet. Khan reversed his fortune and got a takedown himself. From the top position, Khan worked hard on maintaining a good position, slipping in some ground and pound, and getting Sakara to tap on a solid arm-triangle.

What's next for Khan? I'd say either a rematch of the champtionship fight with Damian Nitschke or a spetacular go around with Ben Zanotto.

Light Heavyweight - Long BFT veteran and one time title challenger Jakub "Handvice" Kochanowski submit 30+ BFT vet and 4 time title challenger Antoine "A-Train" Wallace with an amaricana at 3:56 in round 1.

Wallace started this one on the mat. He was working a solid top came plan with some nice ground and pound shots. Kochanowski worked his way into butterfly guard and then got himself on top. He worked to constantly improve his position and eventually got an americana off. A great turn of events for Kochanowski.

What's next for "Handvice"? Bones Jones seems like a great and equal fight. Hall of Famer Jake the Snake would surely enhance the stock of of "Handvice" and Jack Dempsey would be a great go around.

Lightweight Title! - 11 time bonus winner champion "Kana" Kuroda Atsushi Unanimous Decisioned 8 time bonus winner and 2 time former title challenger Victor Bonifacio.

Another exciting fight between these two martial artists. Bonifacio looked like he was out for blood on his feet, so Atsushi took him down onto the mat. Atsushi was looking to land some nice ground and pound, and it seemed as though he had a decent amount of success. Things slowed down there for a little while and the ref decided to stand things back up. It was short lived, as Atsushi took it right back down to the ground until the end of the round. The second round took place for a majority of the fight, and Bonifacio enjoyed it that way. He was landing at will and Atsushi worked as hard as he could to resist the offence brought forth, but it wasn't enough to keep him out of danger. He took the fight back to the mat with about 30 seconds left on the clock, but it wasn't really enough time to get anything done. At the distance in the third round, things seemed a little more even, with both men landing some nice shots. Bonifacio still looked like he was slightly ahead, but it was pretty close. Atsushi clinched things up for a little while before taking things to the mat just before the round had come to a conclusion. The fourth round got underway and it appeared that Bonifacio was going to take things under control on the feet again. Atsushi had enough of that, and brought the fight back to the mat with plenty of time to work. He was able to maintain top position and work over Bonifacio with the ground and pound until the round had come to a conclusion. As the last round of the fight got underway, Atsushi really wanted to cement himself as a champion and knew his route to the end of the fight. Atsushi was able to bring the fight back to the mat and help Bonifacio down, while punishing him, until the final bell rang. This made it 5 in a row for the champ looking to improve with each outting.

What's next for the champ? Maybe a shift in weight class until an challenger puts a few good wins together. Otherwise, Vimes and Mohammed Ul Haq would be the top picks.

Co-Main - Heavyweight - "Demolition Man" Alistair Overeem knocked out former champion Laguna Lunaris with a cut at 4:28 in round 1.

Overeem looking to end it early with some nice combinations, cut open Lunaris, and even initiated the clinch against a great Thai fighter. The two of the went at it in the clinch and Laguna had his cut open even more. Overeem broguht it back to the distance and they found themselves in the clinch again. Lunaris was able to open up a cut on Overeem, who didn't appreciate that and returned the favor some more. Overeem kept on it until the refs had to force the fight to a conclusion.

What's next for Overeem? With how well he looked against the former champ, I believe this warrents a title shot.

Main Event - Heavyweight Title! - 20+ BFT vet, champion Hagen "The Barbarian" Germanicus knocked out 4 time BFT bonus winner "Overeem" Jason Hannibal with strikes at 1:56 in round 2.

Germanicus took the fight to the ground with great haste. From there, he stayed on top of Hannibal and threw down strikes like a meteor shower. Hannibal found his way to the second round and that's where the fun started. Germanicus landed a solid shot that cut open Jason, but Jason retaliated with a head kick that cut open Hagen! The two exchanged until Germanicus landed a right that stumbled Hannibal. Hannibal was hurt and Germanicus stayed on him until the ref jumped in and brought the fight to a conclusion. This brings the champ to 8 in a row.

What's next for Hagen? Given how impressive he has been, I would love to see him in some superfights. One offs, or something spetacular. He's on fire and he should keep it rolling. Other wise I would recommend an outing against a different Overeem... Alistair Overeem.
