Event Preview: HMMA 84 Fury v FIghter
HEROIC
2013-05-31, London, Hard Knocks - London
Author:

Hello everyone “Sunshine” Weston Markson here with co-host Rudy “The Box” Knife, we are here to discuss HMMA 84 which takes place Friday May 31, in that Hard Knocks arena in London.  3000 people are expected to fill the stands as they watch the headliners in a battle between two ranked middleweights Nick Fury, and Ok Fighter.

Rudy:  Weston the CO-MAIN event will also be very good, its got the 3rd ranked Middleweight and a fighter who would have been ranked had he been around at the time of the last rankings.  This card has a lot of up and comers and it’s a very solid card with some HMMA veterans in action.

MAIN EVENT

#4 Nick Fury (14-3-1) v #8 "Average"  OK Fighter (15-3)

Weston:  The main event of HMMA 84 is a middleweight fight between two ranked fighters.   Everyone knows by now that Nick Fury is one of my favorite fighters for his fights are never boring and full of action.  He comes into this fight finally putting one of the greatest rivalries HMMA has even seen behind him, he came out on top over Gugo Ograni who also fights tonight.  It was a great series that helped reintroduced the HMMA fans to Nick after a visit with the monks to train.  Since coming back he is 3-0 inside the HMMA cage and building steam as a possible contender down the road, in order to continue his streak he must beat Ok Fighter.  Now don’t let the name fool you OK fighter is more then “Average” He is actually very good, its his power that sets him apart from most fighters,  and the reason why he is making his HMMA debut against the 4th ranked fighter in the middleweight division.

Rudy:  Its not often I agree with “Douchebag” Weston Markson, but today I will agree, Nick Fury is also one of my favorite fighters, Its always a great fight when he steps in the HMMA cage.  I think OK fighter could develop into one of my favorites as well because of his KO power, something I was no stranger to in my MMA and kickboxing career.  OK fighter has won all 15 of his fights by brutal (T)KO.  It will be interesting to see these two fight because they both have fight ending power, they both have near the same ground skills and near equal standup.  Honestly I have no clue who will win this fight.  Fury has shown he possibly has more ways to end the fight having won close decisions and also winning by submission, for this reason I favor him to come out on top in this fight.

Prediction:  Nick Fury decision.

CO-MAIN EVENT

#3  "Red Devil" Mikal Helio  (22-6) v  "Dragon" Bruce Lee (25-17)

Weston:  The CO-MAIN event is another middleweight fight between 3rd ranked Mikal Helio, and Bruce Lee.  Both of these fighters are making their promotional debuts, both have high hopes and big expectations.  This will be the start of what they hope to be long and successful HMMA careers and a road to the championship.  Bruce Lee’s most recent outing ended a four fight win streak for him, Mikal’s most recent fight got him his second win in a row.  This is going to be an exciting fight  that will show a lot about where both men stand in the division.

Rudy:  These two are so evenly matched in both striking and grappling, although they both primarily like to grapple to pick up the win.  This fight could turn out to be one of those great standup battles if they negate each other on the ground.  It could also turn out to be one of the most epic ground battles in a long time.   Only time will tell but hopefully we find out soon.

Prediction:  I think Helio takes this one by (T)KO.

MAIN CARD

Weston:  The main card fights are home of some fighters trying to get back on track after some recent troubles to once promising careers.  One of the fights im looking forward to is the Gugo Ograni fight with Dan Gerous, both of these guys have been highly touted but have fallen on hard times, for Ograni it was losing two straight against his rival, and for Dan Gerous its losing 4/5 after one of the best runs of his career.  One of these two get back on track and the other tries again.

Another fight is the Welterweight fight between Oleg Aschenbreaker, and Lyo Wuan, both of these fighters are highly skilled and have had a good amount of fights, Oleg himself has fought 49 times! With this being his 50th fight he would love to take home a win.

Rudy:  Yea!  We all know I like the fast paced lower weight fighters that’s why im excited to see two lightweight battles one between Tarmo Suulas and Mark Worsely, two guys who could potentially make a run, Suulas has done well for himself in HMMA  going 5-3, this fight could give him the opportunity to make a push back into ranked status.  Worsely has recently had a streak of bad luck suffering 4 losses out of his last five fights but beating Suulas could give him a much needed win against a tough opponent.

The other Lightweight fight is HMMA veteran and all around badass Tom Stroud against Anton Walter,  Walter is yet to pick up a win in HMMA in 3 appearances, but two of those fights ended in draw.  While Stroud has had ups and downs in his career and appears as if he may be starting another ascent.

"Bazinga" Gugo Ograni (23-11-1) v  Dan Gerous (21-12)

"Undead" Tarmo Suulas (17-9) v "Chinless Wonder" Mark Worsely (21-15-1)

Oleg "Emerson" Aschenbreaker (27-22) v  Lyo Wuan (7-10)

Tom "Corpsegrinder" Stroud (13-7) v  Anton Walter (11-14-2)

PRELIMS

BB Fack  v  Curt Hennig

Stefol Czarnecki  v  Seppo Kneeigeninen

Tony Jaa  v  Ryan Rooney

Nadi Tsunami  v  Ishi Kiki
