Inside The UPF: Oktawian August

Fighter profile of Oktawian August by Dale Saw

Hello everybody and welcome to Inside The UPF. I am your host Fred Meyer. And today on the show we have a very talented young man. He was runner up in the welterweight championship tournament and now he is fighting for the belt in his next fight. Ladies and gentlemen, Oktawian August.

[August enters the set wearing an authentic "Caesar" outfit, sword and all, walks over to Fred, shakes hands, waves to the audiance and takes his seat.]

Freddy: Welcome Sire.

Oktawian: Hey Freddy. It's good to be here. And feel free to call me Oktawian.

Freddy: Haha. Ok will do. So Oktawian why not start us off with a little background info. A little about the man behind the fighter.

Oktawian: Hmm... I don't know where to start. [smiles] I am Italian, and family had always been really important to me. I try to visit them during all holidays or just when I have some free days. But, the problem with that is that I live in Tokyo and the distance between Rome and Tokyo is far. I enjoy cooking and good books, my favorite authors are Voltaire, Balzac and Machiavelli. And, I love watching MMA! I am in the great alliance Cold Blooded Killers. Also I am sharing my knowledge with the youngest MMA fighters in the alliance and those which careers are managed by Bragi Ragnarson, who is also my manager.

Freddy: How long have you been fighting in the UPF-Hilo?

Oktawian: I am one of the UPF's veterans. I have been fighting for them since December 22nd 2012, and My record in the org is 6-1. My next fight is for the title. I hope that I will get my first belt. My career was not so bright but I had pleasure to fight in one of the best orgs, Reach Promotions, and now I am fighting in the UPF. I think that the UPF-Hilo has a huge chances to become the next Reach Promotions in the next few months.

Freddy: So overall you're a family man that will be fighting for the belt. Haha. Hank Patterson, Champion of your division, is a tough opponent. How do you feel that fight will pan out? Do you feel you are ready for the champ? He did beat McCready who beat you.'Of course McCready holds a victory over Patterson as well. Haha.

Oktawian: I think that I have a big chance to claim the belt. Hank is a great striker, he is really good at boxing, but he has a glass jaw. All of his loses were by TKO or KO. My chin is solid and  my heart and will to fight are huge! I think that a big heart and strong willpower will be the most important thing in my game plan. I am going to war with him and I want to claim the belt! Declan is really good opponent. My game plan was weak, we decided to make an experiment, which was a failure. I won't make that mistake once again. I am sorry, but I will and I want to KO Hank.

Freddy: Alright. Alright. Sounds like you know what you are going to do come fight night. Haha. And I wish you the best of luck. Haha. So, why not tell us a little about your rivalry with former actor Charlie Sheen?

Oktawian: I won two fights against Charlie. First via unanimous decision and the second one via submission. He is very good striker, one of the best in the org. He has a will to fight, heart and a very good chin. I really respect him but he talks too much. I think that he will do some noise in 170 lbs division. We had some bad blood between us but I think the situation cleared itself, also we're in the same alliance, by the way.

Freddy: Haha. So, August, who would you say is your hero? And if you could fight anyone, who would it be?

Oktawian: I don't have any hero, but I enjoy watching fights in top orgs. I'm regulary buying PPV on Empire's events. I really like to watch fights of Smokudju Womba, his ground game is great. Most of the top fighters are strikers and it's really nice to see a grappler in the top of the P4P list.

Freddy: I agree completely about it being nice to see a ground fighter in the top rankings in the world. Haha. So you are saying you want to fight Smokudju Womba?

Oktawian: It would be great to fight against Smokudju, but I am not on his level [laughs.] I don't have any preferences nor wishes about my opponents. I will fight against anyone thrown from the org if only I would receive enough time for a preparations.

Freddy: Smokuju would deffinately be your toughest opponent to date. Haha. But, unfortunately we are almost out of time. The last thirty seconds are all yours anything goes.

Oktawian: Haha, yea, someone have to clear it up. I'm like a janitor for it!

Freddy: Well there you have it. Ladies and gentlemen the janitor Oktawian August. Thanks again Oktawian. Join us next week, I will be interviewing the man who you all know. He is the former middleweight champion who will be fighting to get his belt back in his next fight. Tony "Toy" Brown. So, make sure to set your TiVo and DVR's to record and do not miss out. Until next time, I'm Fred Meyer signing off.
