Werner Pinzner v Mark Read
What a way to open the main card! Two very exciting young fighter who on fight night bring it, they don’t leave it at home, or the gym, or in their nans when having their Sunday roast. They bring it. If not for Pinzner’s Majority decision win and Read’s one decision win(But he has assured me that was due to not having his lucky underwear on) both would have every victory by way of knockout which is pretty damn impressive! Especially in the day and age of fighters not liking to be punched and looking to spoon on the ground. Easiest way to look at this is neither fighter wants to take it down they are both going to stand there and windmill at each other and see who lands best.
Prediction – Read KO (Spinning diving headbutt)
Frank Steinberg v Landon Little
Two guys coming into their “Prime” years and looking to cement their place in the division Steinberg comes into this fight off the back of an absolute barnbuster with Werner Pinzner in which he avenged the majority loss he received in their first fight. Little on the other hand is riding a nice 3 fight win streak and is looking very confident! However his last loss was at the hands of none other than Mr Steinberg himself! So can Little make it 1 a piece? Can he make it out of the first minute this time? I should think so, having the nickname “Lion” and getting twated in 48 seconds isn’t exactly good promotion!
Prediction – Steinberg TKO (Dragon Fist)
Waclaw Panek v Barret The Turk
An all time fan favourite striker vs grappler, both guys are debuting for Valhalla:Hilo tonight so expect both of them to come out looking to make a statement and let people know they have arrived! Panek comes into this basically as a takedown spamming BJJ guy who might throw the odd jab by accidental reflex whereas on the opposite side of the cage is a leg kicking machine known as “Barret The Turk” I’d like to think the hair was actually a bad lifestyle choice but apparently he was born with purple hair! Imagine that! Rough childhood or what?!?! Be about on par with being a ginger!! Anyway back to the fight i think this fight is simple for anyone to read, Panek gets takedown he wins. Barret has good takedown defence he wins.
Prediction – Panek Submission (Repeated Nuggie)
Bilbo Baggins v Felix Merquez
Two brazillians who love a good spoon here! Baggins a well versed blackbelt comes up against a more than competent Brown belt in Merquez and on paper or if you looked at their records it would be easy to just say Baggins submission victory but i would disagree here as Merquez likes to include his standup in his game as it is mma whereas Baggins likes to close his eyes and just charge forward until he finds his opponents legs. I wouldn’t be expecting fireworks here but if Merquez can use his standup to score points and when he eventually gets taken down is able to nullify Baggins and get stood back up he has a much better chance than meets the eye.
Prediction – Ill go against the meta and say Merquez ( SD)
Pulla Sorsa v Cole River
Firstly everyone go look at Cole Rivers new belt I just paid for it to be made so i think everyone should look at how pretty it looks =) Now on to the fight its everyone’s favourite champ Cole River vs the ever present Pulla Sorsa! Since the day Sorsa arrived in Hilo he was touted as a possible future Champ, with his ability it would be no surprise if on this night he walked home with the belt but one person it would be a surprise to is his opponent who has overcame every challenge thrown at him from putting Bowser Stormcrow back under the rock he came from or stepping up to 185lbs and taking on a fighter who on paper was superior only to walk away with the UD this guy shows heart is so much more important than skills and has given dead legs to a who’s who of 170lbs fighters. In this fight I believe Cole River will be tested in a new way than previous as Sorsa will look to clinch up and dirty box his way to victory a way which he has done before...
Prediction – Cole (TKO Dead leg) He will be pushed and it will be close but i believe the champ will leg kick his way to victory
