Inside The UPF: Tony Brown

Fighter profile of Tony Brown by Dale Saw

Hello and welcome to Inside The UPF, where we interview some of the worlds best fighters. I am your host Fred Meyer. Before I bring out the guest today I would like to tell you about Unique Wear and Custom Design proud partners of Ultimate Pit Fighting - Hilo. Head on over to their shop in New York to get any type of custom work you could ever need for a fighter; custom skins, custom avatars, custom shirts and shorts as well. And all at great prices too. Alright back to the show. Haha. Today on the show we have the former middleweight champion of the world. He has a title shot coming up tomorrow. He needs no introduction, ladies and gentlemen please help me welcome the one the only Tony Brown.

[Brown enters the set dressed like Fred walks over and introduces himself as Freddy to Fred.]

Freddy: Haha. That's awesome! I must say, You're looking pretty sharp. Haha. Welcome to the show.

Tony : Haha, you look awesome.

Freddy: Well thank you sir. Haha. So, do you think that you are ready for a rematch with Champion Henkka Reem? And what fo you think went wrong in the first fight?

Tony: I'm ready, I have looked our past fight many times and now I think I know what went wrong. I wasn't aggressive enough, I was spending too much time looking for openings or errors Reem would make. But he didn't make mistakes. This time I'm going to push him and he'll get caught his hands low or he'll make a mistake on the ground. I'll definitely going for a finish.

Freddy: So you feel that if you are more aggressive then Reem will break? And, you had an impressive win over Jose Lopez to secure your rematch, would you like to walk us through that fight?

Tony: Yeah, I'm coming at him and I'll take him out. Jose Lopez  was easy, just like in sparring. I really had no difficulties with him. The first round was just feeling out process. When I turned on the heat, he had snowballs chance in hell. I could have broken his shoulder with that americana, but I mercifully let him walk out with both arms. I suggest he'll tattoo Tony's property on that arm. Next time, I'll snap it off and hang it above my fireplace.

Freddy: Haha. That'll make quite the mantel decoration. Haha. Now, Reem had a actable in the paper stating that you are underestimating his hands and he could score a knockout victory in your rematch. Do you feel he has enough power in his hands to put you away? Or do you still feel he doesn't have the required elements in the stand up game? Do you think you have the power to score a KO if you connect clean?

Tony: I'm certain that he doesn't have the power nor the boxing skill to knock me out. I have taken some big shots and my chin is strong. I think he's defense is even worse and I'll put that to the test as well as his chin. I have pumping my guns for the girls at the beach, but while doing so I have accumulated a fair amount of power to these hands. I'm not yet boxing like Anderson Silva, but my technique is good and my timing is getting better. I'll definitely can score a KO over Reem, no problem. It's going to be Von Clausewitz-type Total War. I'm pushing forward with my hands, kicks and knees.

Freddy: Haha. Best of luck during the fight. No matter the outcome the fight has Fight of the Night, Fight of the Month, and probably even fight of the year possibilities. Now for quite some time you have been referred to as "The Golden Boy" of the UPF-Hilo. Now you have a chance to claim glory once again. Are you feeling the pressure yet? And, if you do get the belt back, what are your plans? What does the future look like for Tony Brown?

Tony: I don't feel pressure, I have one mission, one target and one goal. It's really simple, I'll do what ever it takes to get take Reem out, finish him. The belt comes as a reward, but the main goal is to finish and I'm not talking about the country. After I have finished Reem, I could probably do a superfight and after that defend the title. Future is like another Tony, Tony Montana from Scarface said "I'm going to get whats coming to my, the whole world and everything in it".

Freddy: Haha. Love that movie. Haha. I would like to take another moment to say a word about our sister orgs. There are four UPF orgs in all, one in Los Angeles, one in Montreal, one in New York, and of course one in Hilo, Haha. Over in Montreal they are about to crown their first champions. Things are looking good. Over in New York, things are looking great as every event just keeps getting better. Haha. Now over in Los Angeles they are also doing very well. They too run an interview show just like ours they call "The MMA Today Show." It is a really awesome show as well, you should check it out. Haha. Oh looks like we are running low on time. So, as we now do on every show, the last thirty seconds are yours; anything goes.

Tony: mmmm, I can't think up anything clever to say. Buy my crappy merchandise and visit my site and etc etc. Don't drink and drive. I guess that's it.

Freddy: Haha. That's great advice. Haha. Alright ladies and gentlemen, Tony Brown. Let's hear it for him. Ok, next week on Inside the UPF we will have a little guy with a big future. Bobby Bishop. So dont miss out. Until next time. I'm Fred Meyer signing out.
