Event Preview: TTFC Wednesday Night Fights 33
Team Thomas Fight Club
2013-10-23, New York, Empire Indoor Arena
Author:King Scooby

Welcome all to our 33rd edition of TTFC Wednesday Night Fights brought to you by Mike Thomas. We have another card with 10 great matchups set for action.

The battle of two fighters in a rough losing slump, I believe will end in a victory for Gunnar Nelson over Dexter Morgan. I see Josepha Caron staying off the ground and defeating Georges Saint Pierre. I expect Combustible Huxtable to take care of Zeus Papadopoulos while the two fighters create a grappling festival inside the cage at Empire Indoor Arena, And I cant help but believe my very own Rubin Carter will defeat Bishop Rome.

Our Co-Main event of the night gives us a promising matchup between The Little Professor Harry Distacio and Boudreaux Gordeaux. Distacio is in my opinion a more complete version of Michael Bisping (if that even makes sense), great striking, a great clinch grappler and occasional Muay Thai KO fighter and most importantly a black belt Brazilian Jiu Jitsu holder. He was ranked among the top in his weight class for quite a long portion of his career so he shows how to get the job done in the cage. Although Godeaux takes pride in his wrestling and ground game, he is known to have some powerful punches. He has displayed his ability to weaken opponent’s chins over and over throughout his Tycoon career posting half(13) of his victories(26) by TKO(strikes). In his last fight with Zell Dincht he was able to avoid all of Dincht's submission attempts and put an end to the night early in the second round with his heavy ground and pound. I expect Distacio to keep this fight in the clinch where he can land a lot of shots and although he has a slight advantage on the ground I dont believe he will use it to score a victory over Gordeaux.

I expect Jack Hammer to do just what his name entails to Leslie Harp and get a win while Zell Dincht falls short to Shelton harrell. I always tend to root for “The Chin” Sweeperton but I expect him to lost this fight against Henry Charles and I think “Blitz” Laak will overwhelmingly blitz Halliburton Nixon for his second win since joining TTFC.

Finally we have our main event, Solomon obasi will try to extend his win streak to 6 in a row but it wont come easy against The President of the universe Brian Maddox. Obasi's Americana victory over Jose Aldo should be featured in a textbook on how to properly break someones arm. He went into the fight looking to take him down and after he got him there he was determined to submit him. On his second attempt he got Aldo caught in a position that prayer couldnt even get him out of. Against Brian Maddox, Obasi will have to be very crisp with his takedowns and look to find a submission that Maddox isnt ready for. Unfortunately I think Maddox is ready for anything thats thrown at him, after 57 fights he has only lost one, I repeat ONE fight by submission. He is also an exceptional striker in the standup where he throws the high kicks almost as good as they come. He lost his last fight with Kris Marsh which was dominated by Marsh primarily in the standup but as a counter-striker he will look to do more damage to Obasi knowing where his advantage thrives. I expect Maddox to bounce back with a unanimous decision victory over Obasi simply because I dont think Solomon will be able to submit or do much damage on the ground to score points despite it being his primary skillset. Maddox will mix it up a little too much for Obasi thus leading to 3 won rounds and another victory in his long but not yet dwindling career.
