Tom Quin Q&A

Fighter profile of Shogun Iron Tyson by Alika Webb

Q: Dear martial arts fans for the fourth time in a row I am doing an interview with Tom Quin. The 18 year old prospect from Holland talked about competing in a tournament to crown the BEEF’s 145 champion. Now Tom last time you talked about the public statement you made about your opponent. One of the things you said about your opponent was that you were simply better than him, do you still feel that way?

Tom: Well even though I did manage to knock him out in the first round, the fight could’ve gone either way in my opinion. My opponent Walter White pushed the pace and did everything he could to take me down, fortunately my wrestling was good enough to keep the fight standing and I won.

Q: Tom, you’ve been in the spotlight a lot recently with doing these Q&A’s for the Tycoon Times among other things, that creates a lot of hype for you. Do you consider that a good thing or not? Because it can also put you under a lot of pressure.

Tom: It does put me under pressure a little because I remember a while back MMA Hype did a cover of the tournament and the only fighter they mentioned was me. Of course I consider that an honor that I’m the only one but it does put me in the spotlight even more for both the fans and the other fighters. And it’s the second part that worries me.

Q: So you’re worried about the other fighters seeing you as the man to beat in the tournament?

Tom: Absolutely. Since I’m in the spotlight and they’re not I do feel like I’m stealing some of their thunder and I think it can motivate them even more to beat me. But this doesn’t mean they will be able to beat me. I train my ass off every time I go to the gym, I will overcome the pressure and I will do everything in my power to win this tournament.

Q: Thanks for your take on that. I also want to talk to you about the first ever 55k monthly contest that BEEF organized. You won second place in the talker of the month section, how do feel about that?

Tom: I feel great about it, I did my best to be as active as possible and it paid off. I know I’m not the best smack talker but I don’t think that matters, it’s all about staying true to yourself. If you can do that you can accomplish anything you want.

Q: Anything?

Tom: Ha ha ha. Of course not everything, but you get what I mean right?

Q: No I don’t, what do you mean by everything?

Tom: You’re kidding me right?

Q: I was just messing with you of course I know what you mean.

Tom: What a relief, you sly dog!

Q: Okay, that’s all for this week. Tom thank you again for your time and again I wish you good luck in the tournament.
