GAMMA: Fighter of the year candidates & GAMMA Gossip

Global Association of MMA, Fight Organization, London
Company profile by Mentor Guru Corleone

GAMMA is proud to announce the 5th GAMMA fighter of the year candidates! GAMMA has a huge and storied tradition in the MMA scene with some of the biggest names fighting for us over the years. The previous winners of this award include:

Fighter of the Year 2009: Mikhail Yudovich
Fighter of the Year 2010: Raz Matazz
Fighter of the Year 2011: Jeremy Tonal
Fighter of the Year 2012: Anton Chigurh

The top 5 candidates for 2013 are as follows (in random order):

Simon Williams (58148) 6-2-1
Renan St Juste (102580) 12-2-0
Keith Green (129720) 10-3-0
Usain Watts (16107) 9-4-0
Adis Djurdjevic (138400) 9-4-1

Karl De Groot, Kenichi Shirahama, Raz Matazz, Danny Mangold, Peter Cabreros all had a spectacular year as well and are most certainly worth a mention.

Candidates are rated upon the following criteria:

-Total fights (as a GAMMA fighter)
-Total wins
-Difficulty of fights / level of competition
-Titles + title defenses.
-Highest p4p ranking during the year

It is not impossible that someone outside of the top 5 candidates be promoted, however it is highly unlikely that we will see major surprises considering we only have December left.

At the moment it is extremely close and the results of the last 4 events will decide everything.

GAMMA GOSSIP

Its been a while, but GAMMA Gossip is back! Your host as always? Yeah, it is the scandalous one man show Mentor with Edition #42 of the GAMMA Gossip!

As of next month, the Gossip will be run just once per month. The reason for this is that we will have a totally new writer which will be doing weekly reviews and interviews of our events. The Gossip will be more of a "round up" of what happened during the month. So we are not going offline, we are just changing strategy a bit.

***General News****

Significant Signings:

Stanley Burrell is a UPG title contender, managed by Convicted Inc Dean Sutherland. Currently ranked #372 worldwide. Dean previously managed Danzan Kuduro to the 185lbs title and has big ambitions to do the same with Stanley at 170lbs.

Duncan McAlister is the current Ultimate Pit Fighting 265 champion and ranked p4p at 596. He is well managed by one of LOD's top managers Alika Webb and should be a force at 265+ or 265lbs.

**Key fight Reviews***

Keith Green v Nero Aurelius (Steel Pen Super fight)

Keith recently lost his title to Josep Ruzic and was desperate to regain his form which made him famous. He was up against the Steel Penn champion Nero Aurelius in this one. Ironically this would be Nero's last fight under his manager Gritty Smitty of the LOD alliance. Nero had already beaten 2 GAMMA legends in Raz Matazz and Fred Ettish and was looking to make it 3 in a row to complete his "revenge" run over GAMMA fighters. Nero was previously a GAMMA fighter and had lost to all 3 fighters, this fight against Keith was suppose to be the last of that run. Keith spoiled his run to earn GAMMA just their 1st win over Steel Penn and 10-9-1 overall in GEG super fights. Keith is expected to be back in GAMMA soon for either a title fight or a top level top contenders fight.

Karl De Groot v Ba Lil III (155lbs title fight)

Karl was back after a loss to Mikael Johansson to defend his 155lbs title belt against top contender Ba Lil III. It was no surprise that Karl was going to do what he always does, which is to grind out another win. All judges scored the fight 40: 46 in favor of Karl, but if it was any consolation to Ba, he did win the last round and seemed to be pushing the pace in that last round. In the end though it was Karl's faster pace and better Muay Thai which won him this fight. Karl is now in Steel Penn getting ready for his super fight against the local champion.

Renan St Juste v Cole River (170lbs title fight)

Renan has been on a bit of a slump after starting the year on fire, losing 2 in a row. His opponent was up comer and newcomer to GAMMA Cole River of the LOP alliance. Maybe this fight was a little too early for Cole, but in the end it was a lot closer than the critics expected. 48:47 win for Renan, but Cole was impressive at various stages of this fight. The fight was a classic 100% rating and expect to see these 2 in a rematch at some point or other. Renan is defending his title on the 30th of November against Filo Bedo.

Adis Djurdjevic v Drazen Kadoic (205lbs title fight)

Adis was back in GAMMA to defend his title after a devastating loss to Samor Kanen. Adis barely won this fight 48:47 over 5 rounds. Kadoic piled on the pressure early on winning 2 of the first 3 rounds, but seemed to gas out into the championship rounds. He eventually lost the fight by the least possible difference and is probably very dissapointed with the outcome. Adis will be defending his title against upcomer Mousasi this weekend.

Kenichi Shirahama v Dean Martin (265lbs title fight)

Kenichi was the massive favorite for this fight and proved in the cage why. It took him just over 3 minutes to submit one of the better wrestlers in the sport Dean Martin. Dean was a last minute candidate for this title fight and did what he could against one of the best BJJ heavyweights in the world. Kenichi will be flying to Montreal soon to fight in a top profile fight against the winner of the Aggressive damage title fight.

Simon Williams v Arvydas Sabonis (265+ title fight)

Arvydas is a well traveled international veteran after fighting in Evolution, IMMA and NFC. This fight against Simon Williams was probably one of his biggest profile fights though. Both fighters like to finish fights and both came in hard. It was no surprise this fight ended within the first round in a TKO victory for Simon Williams. Simon is currently in contract negotiations and is expected to make his debut outside GAMMA in a super fight against GEG newcomer Claymore Elite in Helsinki.
