Fallen Champions
2014-01-04, Hilo, The Pipeline
Author:Jonah King

Hello fight fans, Merlin here with some exciting Fallen Champions action live from the Pipeline in Hilo, and this is sure to be a great night of fights. We have the Featherweight Champion Craig Clendennon defending his title against what some feel is his toughest test to date against the underdog Toshi Matoshin, plus 9 other great match ups. Lets get the action underway......

265lbs-Cyrus the Virus(8-4)(8-4)vsJohnnie Wait(3-6)(1-4)-Virus by (t)KO in the 1st Rd

135lbs-Kalel Iziarry(8-6)(6-6)vsMalcolm Master(11-14)(4-8)-Master by SUB in 1st Rd

155lbs-#9.Felix Akamai(7-7)(0-0)vs#7.Damien Lok(7-5)(5-5)-Lok by SUB in 2nd Rd

135lbs-#8.Buggy Clown(6-3)(0-0)vs#10.Rizal Farahin(7-4)(0-0)-Clown by UD

205lbs-#6.Aaron Archer(15-11)(0-0)vs#7.Wayne Pearson(7-4)(0-0)-Archer by (t)KO in 1st Rd

185lbs-#8."The Lion of Matema"Baraka Simengwa(9-7)(3-4)vs#9.Wooden Pencil(12-4)(0-0)

Our Main Card kicks off with two top 10 Middleweights doing battle, with the 7 fight FC Veteran taking on the promising up and comer. Baraka Simengwa has had a pretty up and down FC career, but comes into this one on a two fight skid and is in desperate need of a victory. Baraka has some of the finest grappling in the org, and is one of the best Submission artist to step foot in the Ring. He has done an awesome job of adapting the Wrestling game to his arsenal and hopefully he will be able to put it all together soon because at 24 years old he isn't getting any younger. Wooden Pencil is brother to the famed Tycooner Steel Penn, but has decided to step out of his brothers shadow and try his hand at some top level competition. Wooden is only 23 years old and already has 16 fights under his belt, and you have to think that this kind of experience is going to be great for his career in the long run. Pencil relies pretty heavily on his lethal kicking game combined with his amatuer Boxing background, which makes for a pretty nasty stand up attack. This one is going to be a classic striker vs grappler match up, and if Pencil can punish Baraka's legs early and slow down his takedown attempt he will maximize his chances to win. Baraka needs to get the fight to the mat and work his slick BJJ game, and he needs to get it down quick becuz standing to long with the superior striker will prove to horrible idea.

185lbs-#6.Christain Olson(14-5)(3-3)vs#10."Rampage"Quinton Jackson(8-2)(6-2)

Our next match also takes place in the Middleweight division, Christain Olson is coming off of a big win against fellow top 10er Baraka Simengwa in his last fight and he would love to make it two in a row. Olson has Collegiate level Wrestling with a really good double leg takedown, and has some vicious ground n pound once he gets the top position. Quinton Jackson came up through the FC ranks quick but suffered his first loss against long time Champion Finch, but has bounced back nicely and has made a solid name for himself amongst his peers. Jackson has greatly improved his Wrestling as of latem, as well as his stand up game which will make him a dangerous opponent for a lot of the top 10 contenders. Both of these fighters have similar skills with very similar gameplans, so it will be extremely interesting to see who will be able to establish their dominance in that very aspect of the game.

170lbs-#5.Juan Pablo  Green(11-7)(0-1)vs#6.Glin"B-man"Burman(9-12)(4-3)

The next fight will be between top 10 Welterweights, Juan Pablo Green came in his FC debut on a hype train, but that train got derailed when he met Number 1 WW Mike McQuire back at FC 44. Juan has some great Boxing and has some serious power in both hands. Juan likes to keep coming forward pushing the action while looking for a takedown, and once the fight hits the mat he is no slouch either with 2 finishes by submission. Glin Burman has been on a 2 fight win streak lately including a 12 devestating knock out victory over ex Champ Lot in his last outting. Glin's main weakeness has been his ground game, so it will be interesting to see what will happen if the fight takes place there. Glin has power enough in his fist to end the fight if he is able to connect with a good shot. If this fight stays standing it will be a war between to heavy handed sluggers, but I think that Green will look to land a takedown and end the fight with a submission.

185lbs-#2.Bobby"The Black Knight"Bishop(12-2)(1-1)vs#5.Werkka Easterlund(15-10)(1-3)

Our Co Main event is a match up between these two top 5 Middleweights, and this would should be a great battle between these two warriors. Bobby Bishop is coming off of that devastating defeat at the hands of the Champ Freedom that broke a 6 fight win streak. Bobby likes to throw a lot of head punches both at range and in the clinch, but isn't afraid to throw in an occasional kick. Werkka Easterlund came in to the FC on fire, he was on a 3 fight win streak including destroying ex Champ Tom Finch, but has since fell from grace and dropped his last three. Werkka relies heavily on his Olympic caliber Boxing and does so to great success landing amost 70% of his career punches thrown. He also has 14 finishes coming by way of knockout so don't under estimate this guys power, or it could be lights out. This one could be an early pick for fight of the night as both of these two are going to want to stand and bang, Bobby has the bigger arsenal of attacks but I feel like Werkka has more power. This one could came down to who is able to land first, or if both of their chins hold up who is the more active fighter.

145lb Championship-(#4 P4P)C.Craig"Cee-Chop"Clendennon(13-1)(3-0)vs#3."The Sleeping Dragon"Toshi Matoshin(15-5)(2-0)

It is finally time for the Main event of the evening and the Featherweight title will be on the line with the number 4 pound for pound fighter and the reigning Champion Craig Clendennon taking on his toughest challenge to date with the number 3 ranked Featherweight Toshi Matoshin. Craig is riding a 9 fight win streak coming into this contest, and he wants nothing more than to make that streak 10 fights and his first successful title defense. Craig usually tries to chop away at his opponent with low kicks to the legs and body and works his way inside where he has a dominating clinch game where he has a relentless attack of elbows and knees. Toshi has won both of his first two fights since joining the FC roster, and both of them have been by way of impressive knockout. Toshi likes ot use his Sensational Boxing to keep the fight at range where he can best utiulize his great punches and with 7 knockout finishes he can end an opponents night with the right shot. This fight is sure to take place on the feet with Craig wanted to close the distance and get the action in the clinch and Toshi wanted to pick his opponent apart from distance.

This card is sure to be a great night of action! I want to thank our sponsors TFP-Graphics, make sure to check in with Captain for all your sponsorship and clothing needs. Also make sure to vote for us for the best new org of the year award.
