FIght Time 6 Fight Time Returns

Event Preview: Barbarian Fight Time 6
Barbarian Fight Club (ID 230K+)
2014-03-19, Rio de Janeiro, Hayashi's Lounge - Rio
Author:Tony Rossi

We are back with another Barbarian Fight Time. This is the sixth edition of Fight Time and we will have a special match tonight. It will be the first time that a championship will be defended. Now since this is a great line up you will want to get out to Barbarian Betting to find odds on the fights. Also MANGO will be are merchandise partner once again for this event coming to you from Hayashi’s Lounge in Rio de Janeiro. Well without further ado let’s take a look at these fights.

Preliminary Bout Number 1- Middleweight Fight (185lbs)

John Adao (5-2) {0-0} versus Jack "Crazy" Taylor (0-0) {0-0, 1NC}

Adao certainly has the experience advantage since Taylor has yet to have a fight. Adao is twenty one and he is five and two currently coming off a loss. To rebound from that loss he will need to get this fight to the ground. He has a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and not much stand up so his strategy should be strait forward. Taylor was scheduled to make his debut at Barbarian Tournament 170lbs but Taylor did not make weight and the fight did not happen. Taylor did make weight for the fight tonight so he will get a chance to show us what he’s got. Since we don’t know anything about Taylor I am going to pick Adao to win by submission in the first round.

Preliminary Bout Number 2- Lightweight Fight (155lbs)

Antonio "The Alligator " Gracie (2-1) {1-1} versus Decon Green (4-1) {3-1}

Both of these guys are coming off losses in their last fight. Gracie won his first fight in BFC before dropping his last bout. He won his debut by submission and with his purple belt it would seem that he would prefer the ground game, but that might not work out to well for him this time around. Green is four and one overall and three and one in BFC. Green got all four of his wins via submission. He also has a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu but he has much better wrestling skills. Since he has the big wrestling advantage I think he will win so I am picking Green to win in the second round by submission.

Preliminary Bout Number 3- Lightweight Fight (155lbs)

Diego "Nightmare" Rios (2-1) {2-1} versus Paul "Gorgeous" George (0-1) {0-0}

Rios started off two and o before getting knocked out by Zach White. Rios is a striker with some decent ground skills but nothing impressive. He has one win by decision and one by TKO and since he is the far superior striker in this one he should do a little head hunting and try for the knockout. George is o and one and he took his loss by knockout. That means he should not try and strike with Rios and he should use his grappling skills to get this fight to the ground where he can finish the fight. Something is telling me Rios is going to win so I will pick him to win by TKO in the second round.

Preliminary Bout Number 4- Middleweight Fight (185lbs)

Pit "Bulldog" Mies (5-3) {2-3} versus Apollo Mendes (2-0) {0-0}

Mies looked great before he came to Barbarian Fight Club. Since joining this roster Mies has dropped three of his last four fights which has dropped his BFC record to two and three. Out of those three losses he has one by knockout one by submission and one by decision so he will need to protect himself against the fast up and comer Mendes. Apollo is making his BFC debut and he is coming in with a two and o undefeated record. Both of his wins have come by submission and this brown belt will be looking to take the fight to the ground. Mies is also a brown belt and he will welcome the chance. I am going to pick Mies to win this fight by submission in the second round and get back on track.

Preliminary Bout Number 5- Heavyweight Fight (265lbs)

Imperiex Prime (6-4) {1-1} versus Muri "African Lion" Loster (1-0) {0-0}

Prime won his last fight and he got that win by knockout and all six of his wins have come that same way. He will look to move in and out and work the jab to keep Loster off balance. He does have the better wrestling so if he loses the first round maybe he should look to point grapple. Loster is the better boxer but he could not finish his only opponent. He should try to be the more aggressive fighter and really put Prime on the defensive. I do not see how Loster can win if he allows Prime to set up some stiff punches. Prime has the power while Loster has the knowledge. I am going to pick Prime to win by knockout in the first round.

Main Card Bout Number 1- Welterweight Fight (170lbs)

Pedro "The Magician " Marcelo (2-0) {2-0} versus Jared Gracie (5-3) {0-3}

Marcelo is an undefeated twenty five year old purple belt who loves to grapple. He will want this fight on the ground even though he is the better stand up fighter. If the fight stays standing I think Marcelo would dominate the fight, but I am pretty sure his intensions will be to take the fight down to the ground. Gracie has been plummeting fast in BFC. He is on a three fight losing streak and he has had only three fights in BFC. He was five and o coming in and six and o in the TWGC. He will welcome a ground battle and he should have a slight edge in the wrestling department. Even though Gracie is the better wrestler I think Marcelo comes out with the victory via submission in this one. I see this fight lasting until the second round and it should be back and forth until then.

Main Card Bout Number 2- Light Heavyweight Fight (205lbs)

Andrews "The Striker" Silver (2-0) {1-0} versus Adrien "leão" Silva (2-1) {1-1}

This should be a very interesting fight as we have a striker against a submission artist. This is not your typical striker grappler match up though as Silver is a ground and pound guy who is great on the ground. He has won both of his fights via TKO threw his vicious ground and pound. Silva on the other hand is a submission fighter who also loves to be on the ground. Once this fight goes to the ground and we all know it will Silva will start working for a submission. This is a tough fight to predict and the winner will be the person who gets the takedown I guess. I will take a complete shot in the dark and say Silver will win by TKO in the second round.

Main Card Bout Number 3- Heavyweight Fight (265lbs)

Renan Gracie (5-3) {0-0} versus Diego Nunes (4-2) {1-2}

Gracie is an excellent ground fighter having been trained in Greco Roman wrestling and he holds a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Gracie has earned five wins in his career and four of them have come by submission. He will have a good advantage on the ground, but he is giving up a lot in the standup so he should look for an early takedown. Nunes was three and o then he signed with BFC and his record has dropped to four and two. He will look to get back to fifty percent by keeping this fight standing. Nunes is no slouch on the ground but he has a major advantage in striking. I don’t know if Gracie has faced anyone as good as Nunes so I am picking Nunes to win via TKO in the second round.

Co Main Event Main Card Bout Number 4- Light Heavyweight Fight (205lbs)

Daeron "Killer" Inglorion (5-1) {4-1} versus Abraham "Radioactive" Kurse (4-1) {4-0}

Both of these guys have been great in the BFC. Daeron is four and one here with his one and only loss coming by submission to the number one fighter in Barbarian Fight Club. In his one and only loss he was overmatched on the ground and this could be a repeat of that. Kurse is a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at the young age of nineteen. He has won all four of his fights in BFC via first round submission. This is a huge problem for Inglorion as he likes to ground and pound his way to victory. I think Kurse will make short work of Daeron because it is a very bad match up for him. I got Kurse by submission in the first round.

Main Event Main Card Bout Number 5- Lightweight Championship Fight (155lbs)

Pepe "Warner" Lepew (5-0) {4-0} versus Rafael Silva (5-1) {3-0}

Lepew is four and o in BFC and five and o for his career. All of his wins have come by TKO do to his amazing clinch. He will want to lock up with Silva and pound away with dirty boxing from the clinch. He will need to watch out for guard being pulled so I hope he has been working on that. If Silva can get the fight to the ground he will have a major advantage over Lepew. Silva has won all five of his fights by submission and it seems his fights keep getting shorter and shorter. This should be Pepe Lepew’s fight as he has proven he can dominate grapplers and I think he will get the win by TKO in the first round. With that being said if Silva gets the early takedown or if he can pull guard from the clinch I think we end up with a new champion.

Well that will wrap up this event. As always if you disagree or agree with any of this please drop us a line on the Smack Down forum. I am certainly excited about all the announcements Pedro has made over the last few days and maybe on our next preview we will get into some of those. Until then this was Tony Rossi and I hope you are looking as forward to this fight as I am.
