What’s up? I am back on track and I’ll be giving you the details on SF12 – a card full of hard headed and heavy hitting folks that are going all out in order to earn your hespect, a brain injury and some $$. Before that I’d like to congratulate Ville on taking over and give my thanks to Dee who did a fine job managing the org and paving its way to greatness. We have two title fights on the line and I can’t wait to see who will leave the building as a champion!
“The Rev” Johnny Priest (25-11-1) © vs “The Phenom” Veikko Rastila (18-1-1)
Heavyweight title fight! Main Event!
The heavyweight title has been changing hands like a cheap whore in a medieval brothel but Johnny Priest is planning to change that. He thinks he has the necessary skills, experience and talent to be a champion for a long time to come. He is facing “The Phenom” Veikko Rastila who will try to take it from him. Rastila has an impressive record with 18 wins and only 1 defeat which he avenged. You can’t have this kind of stat unless you are legit. Being only 28 of age, Veikko is just hitting his prime but Johnny Priest has been considered as one of the top heavyweights in the world for a long time now and he won’t be intimidated by anything or anyone. “The Phenom is a KO artist, and the same could be said about the champ, but Priest is a BJJ black belt and I believe his game plans will rely on occasional takedowns to carry him to victory. We will know for sure in a couple of hours. I can’t wait!
“Nightstalker” Ricardo Ramirez © (23-11-0) v Sebastien “Snake out of Gothenburg” Linne (35-15-0)
Featherweight title fight! Co-main event!
When I started writing for the org I kind of looked down on Ricardo Ramirez – he was surely high class but I didn’t expect him to do as well as he did. He surprised everyone with his improved ground game and after submitting two red belts I am willing to consider him as the top grappler at 145lbs. Sebastian Linne surprised a lot of people as the popular belief is that your skills diminish with age but Linne is surely a late bloomer. He looks as good as ever and at the age of 40 he is coming for that strap! Linne has never been finished but there is a solid chance for this to happen if he decides to grapple with Ramirez. He is a smart dude however and I expect he will try to pull of a Lidell-esque performance stuffing takedowns and delivering bombs. Ricardo is a sneaky S.O.B. and the time spent in jail has made him cunning and tough as nails and he has some tricks up his sleeve for this fight for sure!
“Poron Kusema” Pikku Näkäräinen (30-14-2) v “The Unforgiven” Kauko Partio (34-18-2)
Featherweight fight
This fight has serious significance for the 145lbs division. Pikku lost the title and another loss tonight will leave him out of the title picture for some time to come so he can’t afford that. He will welcome Kauko Partio in the Sisu cage who was ranked the best featherweight in the world for some time. Kauko lost his last two fights and will look to get his career going once again in Sisu. He is really well known and has a serious following on Twitter so a win tonight might be enough for him to secure a title shot. Partio is famous for his well rounded game and the fact that he poses problems wherever the fight goes has brought him serious success throughout the years. Despite the submission loss “Poron Kusema” suffered last time out, he remains as someone you don’t wanna grapple with and Kauko would do well if he manages to stay off the mat in my opinion.
“Latino Heat” Hector Cabrera (40-22-0) v “The Blond” Katsu Higashikuni (26-15-1)
Featherweight
Katsu Higashikuni found his way back to victory last time out and his mind is set for a run at the title. He already lost two fights for the #1 contender’s spot and he knows what he has to do different this time. Hector Cabrera lost his last fight to Linne who is competing for the title so he is in the same situation. Cabreara is 39 years old and a loss won’t do any good to his career. I believe Katsu will have the speed advantage and that might be a key factor because the Japanese will pursue the take down at all costs. One of Cabrera’s many features is old man’s strength and he packs some serious KO power so Katsu will try to get in a position where he could put his BJJ skills to use. Otherwise he might wake up in a hospital bed with a broken jaw.
Flo “Power” Wer (19-7-0) v “Knucklehead” Ian MacAiken (13-5-0)
Welterweight
Man it’s 13th century all over again! We have Britain’s Flo Wer and Scotland’s Ian MacAiken locking horns in an intriguing welterweight clash. Ian had an impressive debut, outpointing Anti Satosari and he will look to carry that momentum against newcomer Flo “Power” Wer. Flo Wer has some good boxing skills complemented with a BJJ black belt and some descent wrestling. We will see how legit he is in a couple of hours but I have a feeling he has what it takes to make the Sisu ranks. Anyway if MacAiken wins, I am not doing the post-fight interview because he has a habit of punching people for some unknown reason and I really like my nose the way it is.
