Event Preview: Hostility: Unleashed
Hostility (235K)
2014-03-26, Hilo, The Underground - Hilo
Author:Calvin Hobbes

Hey everyone, and welcome to Evil Hilo: Hostility. Hope you’re all ready to take over Hilo with us as we do our best to bring you the best fights in the city, we’re recruiting talent from all around the globe and doing our best to present you with evenly matched and exciting (hopefully!) fights! I’ll personally be handling the writing for now, let me know how you guys feel about it and feel free to give all the criticism you like. Just try to make it constructive! Now, without further interruptions here is the preview of our first event!

Preliminary Bout Number 1 - Light Heavyweight Fight (205lbs)

Brian Snapp (0-1)  VS. Bob “The“ Builder (0-1)

Both of these fighters are coming off a loss in their first professional fight, both of these fighters are just 18 years old. Snapp has decent Boxing and slightly less impressive wrestling, his first loss was in the QFC Tournament where he immediately ended up and the ground and after a flurry of submission attempts, finally got caught and was forced to tap out. Builder, is a wonderful boxer with a granite chin. He participated in the same tournament as Snapp and also lost his first fight. His opponent was very aggressive and showed phenomenal striking cutting him very early, and finishing with a huge uppercut at just 38 seconds into the very first round. Let's see who's going to move forward and who's going to be gasping for air after their next fight.

Prediction: This is one of those matches that all depends on who is able to execute their game plan. I honestly don't know who to pick for this fight, I just hope they make it exciting! But for professionalism sake I’ll pick Builder by TKO in the second.

Preliminary Bout Number 2 - Featherweight Fight (145lbs)

Lee “Champ” Rory (0-0)  VS.  Brighton Baxtor (0-1)

Rory is coming out of a dominant college Wresting career and looks to make waves in MMA. His opponent, Baxter is a purple belt in Jiu Jitsu and lost his first MMA fight by decision. He failed countless takedowns and took a bunch of hits in the process, once the fight got to the ground he got pummeled there as well, he tried a few submissions but couldn't seal the deal.

Prediction:  Well, this fight will clearly be on the ground. I think Rory is going to take Baxtor down early and try to beat him up. Given that Baxtor has superior Jiu Jitsu I am confident that he'll get the win by Submission in the first.

Preliminary Bout Number 3 - Light Heavyweight Fight (205lbs)

Frank Dukes (0-0)  VS. Jeeves “Reggie” Reginald (0-0)

Both of these guys are heading into their first professional MMA fight. Dukes has been Boxing since the second he grew arms in his mother’s womb, he's only 18 and has shown amazing potential. Reginald is 22 and has a little experience in all areas of MMA but doesn't seem to have anything too impressive going on.

Prediction: The key for Reginald will be getting this fight to the ground and controlling it there. If Dukes can keep this fight standing he'll take this fight without even breaking a sweat. I'm going with Dukes by KO in the first.

Preliminary Bout Number 4 - Bill Burly (1-1)  VS.  Lenny “The Governor” MacLaine (0-0)

This next fight also seems to lean towards a standup fight. Burly is a Brawler with competent skills on his feet, and some sub-par wrestling. He won his first professional fight by decision, not really an exciting fight as he threw his strikes pretty recklessly and missed most of his shots, luckily his opponent wasn't very talented and didn't reach well. His second fight was sort of the same, except his opponent was able to land a few shots and that was really all it took, he lost by TKO at 1:07 in the first round. MacLaine had 2 professional Boxing fights before he decided to make the switch to MMA, we don't know much else about him but we are excited to see what he can do here.

Prediction: Burly doesn't seem to have much self-control and likes to swing for the fences every time out. I think that put against a Superb Boxer like MacLaine will make him think twice before throwing with no regard to his own safety. I'm going with MacLaine by KO in the first.

Preliminary Bout Number 5 - Eddy "Jurigi" Hwang  (2-0)  VS   Olver “Twist” Bumb (0-2)

Hwang , and Bumb have both been competing in Muay Thai and Wrestling since they were in high school.  Hwang, being the elder has some more experience but Bumb is more than catching up for his age.  Hwang won his first two professional fights, the first by a head kick early in the first round. His second came through a unanimous decision in a pretty one sided fight where he couldn't quite get the finish. Bumb on the other hand lost his first 2 professional fights. Both losses were due to his lack of Jiu Jitsu. Wrestling will only get you so far in MMA. His first loss his opponent took control on the ground and beat him up winning a decision from the judges. His second loss came very early in the first round to a takedown and submission.

Prediction: These fighters have similar skills and I can see this to be a standup fight, Hwang seems to have the better Muay Thai, but we honestly haven't had a chance to see much of Bumb's standup yet. Given the age and experience i'll have to give this one to Hwang by KO in the 2nd or the judge’s decision.

Main Card Bout Number 1 - Eki Lollo (0-0)  VS.  Ace Quinton (3-2)

This will be Lollo’s first professional fight so we don’t much about him. What do know is that he’s a brawler and loves to fight. Let’s see how how his story starts here in Hostility. Quinton comes from a strong background in amateur Boxing and has recently begun training his other skills with his move to MMA. He loves to throw it down and is not afraid of trading shots, all but one of his fights have ended by KO or TKO, for better or worse and losing one fight to a decision.

Prediction: We don’t know much about Lollo and he might surprise us, but I think Quinton has the superior Boxing and will get a knockout in the first round.

Main Card Bout Number 2 - Lightweight Fight (155lbs)

Blazed Gracie (1-0)  VS.  Edwin “Avila” Mighty Wincho (0-1)

Both of these guys only have one professional fight, and both have strong BJJ skills. It looks like this fight could very well be on the ground most of the night. Gracie is a counter fighter with good takedowns, in his first fight he almost lost in the third round since didn’t throw any strikes and his opponent was much more aggressive. But he landed both of his takedown attempts and in the last stretch of the third round manages to mount his opponent and lock on with a very painful looking armbar. Mighty Wincho also seems to focus his fighting style with his Jiu Jitsu, although he spent some time in Thailand and got some decent Muay Thai training. His first fight didn’t go so well as he failed all of his takedown attempts and took more punches than he can remember, he almost held on to round two but got knocked down at 4:52 in the first and just couldn’t defend himself, losing via TKO.

Prediction: I’m not really sure what’s going to happen here. Might Wincho seems to love going for takedowns, but his next opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. He’s going to want to keep this one standing, but I think the fight will eventually get to the ground and Gracie will be able to submit Mighty Wincho.

Main Card Bout Number 3 - Bantamweight (135)

Alex “Swarm” Gurmorow (2-1)  VS.  Bustos Stallermo (1-0)

Gurmorrow has some decent Boxing and Wrestling skills and he likes to fight up close and personal. His first match he took the fight right to the clinch and landed a few strikes before tripping his opponent and once he got him on the ground, he had his way with him. He beat him up in every position he could find, earning him a TKO in the first round. His second fight wasn’t so impressive, his opponent had far superior Jiu Jitsu and for some reason, the first thing he did was shoot in for a takedown, he got submit at 18 seconds of the first round. His third fight was pretty much the same as his first, he came back and won with a takedown and ground and pound in dominating fashion. Stallermo has some of the same skills as Gurmorrow, but seems to focus more of his game in the stand up with his remarkable boxing. He dominated his first opponent and force him to submit to strikes in the first round.

Prediction: I think this one really depends on who executes their gameplan first, but I’m going to go with Stallermo by KO in the first.

Co Main Event – Light Heavyweight Fight (205lbs)

Alexusso Bolir (0-0)  VS.  Leiro Nayr (3-0)

Our second fight is in the same division. We’ll be welcoming Bolir here with his first professional fight. He seems to be a well-rounded fighter. Let’s see if he can make a name for himself in the Pro’s! Nayr is came from professional boxing and decided he wanted to play with the big boys here in MMA. In his first fight he came out like a raging bull and obliterated his opponent, scoring a knockout just 9 seconds in the first round. His opponent was pissed off and demanded a rematch and boy did he get it, he lasted a little longer this time but ultimately suffered the same fate and was knocked out at  26 seconds in the first round. His third fight got a little interesting and his opponent scored a few takedowns, but wasn’t able to stay active enough and force the ref to stand them up. Once again Nayr showed off his outstanding Boxing and knocked his opponent out cold in the first round, can he continue his knockout streak?

Prediction: We don’t really know anything about Bolir, but Nayr has shown complete dominance in his other fights. Just like our first fight, I believe if Bolir can score an early takedown and keep the fight on the ground, he might have a chance. But I think Nayr will once again, score the knockout.

Main Event - Light Heavyweight Fight (205lbs)

Frank Malone (2-1)  VS.  Roland Daniels (1-1)

Now, for the fight you've all been waiting for. This is the main event of the evening. Malone comes from a strong Muay Thai background and has some decent wrestling skills. In his first two fights, he destroyed his opponents in the clinch, winning them both in the first round by KO and TKO. He had an unfortunate third fight and got taken down immediately in the first. He has no ground game and immediately got mounted and punched out. Will he be able to bounce back from his first loss? Daniels looks like your typical brawler, decent Boxing and Wrestling with a little BJJ in the mix. His first fight he got cut after taking his first punch, and got knocked out shortly after, only landing a few strikes. His second fight was a little better, he outworked his opponent and got a few takedowns in the third and ended up winning the judges’ decision.

Prediction: If this fight stays standing I think Malone will destroy Daniels. If Daniels manages to get a takedown early enough, maybe he can try to wear out his opponent with his slightly superior Jiu Jitsu. I pick Malone by KO in the first.
