Event Preview: Barbarian Fight Time 8
Barbarian Fight Club (ID 230K+)

Author:Tony Rossi

It’s time for another Barbarian Fight Time and this one is number eight. We have an action packed line up of fights for you tonight and it will be capped off by the big main event Maia versus Kurse. Clare and Gatti will also be involved in fights in their respective weight classes. We have a few other household names and some fresh faces. Let’s get started shall we.

Preliminary Bout Number 1- Light Heavyweight Fight (205lbs)

Andy "Shark" Souwer (0-1) {0-1} versus Anderson "Pe_Pei" Peixoto (0-2) {0-1}

Well congratulations to which ever fighter secures their first professional win in this fight. Sourwer is o and one after being submitted in his debut by Roan Carneiro in the first round. Andy is a wrestler so he is prone to get beat by Brazilian Jiu Jitsu fighters. Peixoto is o and two with being o and one in Barbarian. This Muay Thai striker has been TKO’ed once and beatin by decision in his other fight. He should look to gain the clinch but he will need to be prepared for a takedown from the clinch. I think Souwer can dominate this fight on the ground and I will be picking him to win in the second round by TKO.

Preliminary Bout Number 2- Lightweight Fight (155lbs)

Justin "The Arrow" Cruz (2-2) {2-2} versus Rafael "Brad" Modesto (0-0) {0-0}

Cruz is a great fighter with a bad record for his talents. He is currently two and two getting both of his wins by knockout via amazing head kicks. Both of his losses have come by submission where is game is really lacking. The kid is only nineteen and he still has plenty of time to work on his ground game. Rafael Modesto will be making his professional debut in this fight. He has a wrestling background and he is now focusing on is Jiu Jitsu and striking game. If he can round out his game he could be a big time player as well. I got Cruz winning this fight by knockout in the second round in the fight we shall call the battle of the future stars.

Preliminary Bout Number 3- Heavyweight Fight (265lbs)

Ernesto "La Muerte" El Angel (3-2) {3-1} versus Sergie "Hell Raiser " Toderov (0-2) {0-1}

El Angel dropped his first fight in BFC before starting his current three fight winning streak. He has decided to take more time off in between fights recently to work on his skills at the gym and it seems to be paying off well. He will be looking to put Toderov on his back and pound him out just like his last three victims. Sergie Toderov is currently o and two but he will look to turn that around tonight. Sergie has great kickboxing skills so if he can prevent the take down he will be in good shape in this one. I think El Angel is the more skilled fighter and he will prove that tonight with a TKO via ground and pound in the first round.

Preliminary Bout Number 4- Light Heavyweight Fight (205lbs)

Nasty Murdock (3-1) {1-1} versus Bud Ybarra (0-0) {0-0}

We have two more future stars for you in this match up. Nasty Murdock is a Muay Thai fighter with two wins by TKO and one by decision. His only loss came when Abraham Kurse submitted him in the first round. Murdock has also been working on his wrestling and boxing to round out his game. Bud Ybarra will be making his debut and I am sure he will look to strike with Murdock. Bud is an amazing boxer who can take the fight to the ground if he gets in trouble. That is the big key in this fight. Bud is a far better wrestler and he is currently a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I don’t think he will be in enough trouble to try and take this fight to the ground and I am picking him to win by TKO in the third round.

Preliminary Bout Number 5- Light Heavyweight Fight (155lbs)

Marcelo "O Tigre" Silva (1-1) {0-1} versus Jose Pablo "Cactus" Joaquin (2-2) {1-2}

Silva’s record dropped to five hundred when he lost his BFC debut. He is currently one and one with his only win coming by way of submission. He is a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and he has a nice wrestling background so you know he will want this fight on the ground. Joaquin is flying high since he got his first win in three chances after coming aboard BFC’s roster. He can wrestle but he prefers to strike and that is what he will have to do to win. He will need to avoid all takedowns by staying to the outside and throwing head and leg kicks. I think Joaquin will put up a good fight but I picked Silva to win by submission in the second round.

Main Card Bout Number 1- Light Heavyweight Fight (155lbs)

William Henry "Billy The Kid" Bonney (1-1) {0-0} versus Jason "Twister" Jones (2-1) {1-1}

This will be Bonney’s first fight in Barbarian Fight club and he will be looking to impress. In his last fight he showed off his striking skills winning his fight by knockout with a big punch. He will be looking to use his wrestling to keep the fight standing so he can show of his striking skills a little more. The exact opposite game plan should be in full effect for Jones. He will want to wrestle Bonney to the ground so he can look for a submission. He is currently two and one and surprisingly the brown belt has had both of his wins come by TKO via ground and pound. This is a tough fight to call and I think I am going to pick Bonney to win by TKO in the third round.

Main Card Number 2- Heavyweight Fight (265lbs)

"Jovem Nerd" Alexandre Ottoni (3-0) {0-0} versus Antonio Ignascio Erazo (3-1) {2-1}

Ottoni has a perfect three and o record so far in his career. The last two wins he recorded came by knockouts from punches. Ottoni certainly has power and now he is looking to show the world that he has more than just a punch. Erazon is a boxer and a wrestler just like Ottoni except he is much older. Since he is older you would think he would be the better skilled fighter but I don’t believe that. Also in the exprence department he does not have a big advantage only having one more fight than Ottoni. The evidence is stacking up and I can’t deny cold hard facts so I am picking Ottoni to win by knockout in the first round.

Main Card Number 3- Heavyweight Fight (265lbs)

Arturo "Thunder" Gatti (3-3) {3-2} versus Andy "Black Dragon" Machida (2-1) {1-1}

Gatti is a fighter I keep going back and forth on. He was o and one when he came to BFC and then he won two fights in a row. After words he lost, won, and then lost so it is hard to tell if he has the proper training and management. Seeing that he is twenty six though could me he just doesn’t have what it takes to be a top fighter at Heavyweight. Machida was two and o until he suffered a loss from a previous opponent in his last fight. He needs to get a big win here so he can start climbing that ladder once again. Gatti is a wrestling style ground and pounder while Machida is a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu so advantage Machida. I have Machida winning in the second round via submission.

Co Main Event Main Card Fight Number 4- Welterweight Fight

Dustin "Gannicus" Clare (5-3) {2-3} versus Marcelo Aurelio (5-0) {0-0}

Clare seemed to be the future of the welterweight division after arriving at Barbarian. He was the second highest rated fighter for a while when he was five and o. Since that point he has lost three fights in a row one of which was in the welterweight title tournament. I am not sure what Clare should do in this fight as he seems over matched. Marcelo Aurelio will be making his debut in BFC and he is currently five and o. He has a good wrestling base and he holds a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Obviously he will want to take the fight to the ground and Clare should be fine with that. Aurelio has the better submission skills so I will pick him to win by submission in the first round.

Main Event Main Card Bout Number 5- Light Heavyweight Title Fight (205lbs)

Aderbal "Tapout" Maia (9-0) {5-0} versus Abraham "Radioactive" Kurse (5-1) {5-0}

This is one of the most anticipated fights ever in Barbarian Fight Club. Maia is nine and o in his career and five of those fights have been in Barbarian. All nine of Maia’s wins have come by submission so you know this wrestling based brown belt will want to grapple. Kurse has been very vocal about being left out of the tournament at Light Heavyweight. He felt that he was the best that the Light Heavyweight Division and I agree with him. He is a wrestler and a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu which makes him a bad match up for Maia. I got Kurse winning this fight in the first round with a submission.

Well there you have it folks a massive night in Barbarian Fight Club. I cannot wait to see this explosive main event. I hope you enjoyed the preview and I will see you guys for the next preview.
