Death Before Dishonour Preview:

Here we go again, fight fans! Bass Rotten here to preview Tycoon’s final MMA event of the weekend, Death Before Dishonour, live from Hard Knocks in Tokyo, Japan! I’ve barely caught my breath from last weekend’s action, and just when I thought I’d seen the best match ups in the sport, Evil Evolution comes right back and tops them all pitting 20 top ranked fighters against each other, including the big one folks - #1 Jamie Coton against #5 Ilya Murometz in heavyweight title eliminator!!!! The fans in Japan having been demanding a champion in Evil’s deepest divisions, and the org and fighters have responded taking huge fights on short notice. Many of these fighters are coming in injured from their last fights, but they are hungry for glory and love these Japanese fans! This is one for the ages, ladies and gentlemen, as the best heavyweights and bantamweights in the East square off to see who will get their shot at the title! Let’s take a look at the prelims:

1st Preliminary Card Fight

Andreh Fransisco (5-3) vs. Connor Rostowski (8-6), 135lbs:

We start the night in the bantamweight division as former champion and #8 ranked Andreh “Decoh Breaker” Fransisco brings his world class boxing skills to Evil Evolution to face #9 ranked Connor “Rose” Rostowski.  Rostowski possesses wonderful boxing skills as well and is coming off of a first round knockout victory in his last outing. Both men have good ground skills, but four of Fransisco’s wins have earned him Sub Of The Night honors and he should have an edge in the ground game. If the fight remains standing, I give an advantage to Rostowski as his Muay Thai skills add to his dynamic standup. Rotowski has a wrestling pedigree and it will be interesting to see if Fransisco can score takedowns or if he will be content to stand and bang. This one should be good!

Arnel’s Prediction: Fransisco via Submission, Round 2

Kelly’s Prediction: Fransisco via Submission, Round 2

Bass’ Prediction: Connor via TKO, Round 2

2nd Preliminary Card Fight

Joseph Sandoval (16-8) vs. Shinji Tanaka (10-9), 135lbs:

We stay in the bantamweight division as “The Kid” Joseph Sandoval puts his #9 ranking on the line against #11 Shinji “Tensai” Tenaka in a bout that features two of the most underrated 135’ers in the world! Sandoval is extremely well rounded and has world class Muay Thai. Riding a two fight win streak, Sandoval looks to remain undefeated within Evil promotions and put himself in the championship picture with a win this weekend. Tanaka, a former champion, looks to get back on track after two straight defeats. An Abu Dhabi Champ and cardio machine, Tanaka has earned a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and has knockout power in both fists. Both have great wrestling skills that may cancel each other out. Look for a very close contest in this one.

Arnel’s Prediction: Tanaka via Submission, Round 1

Kelly’s Prediction: Tanaka via Submission, Round 1

Bass’ Prediction: Sandoval via Decision

3rd Preliminary Card Fight

Jonny Do (26-29) vs. Ben Ladin (15-10), 265lbs:

Here we go, out first heavyweight battle of the evening! #14 ranked Jonny “Mr. Anonymous” Do takes on #13 “Obama” Ben Laden. Ben Ladin, a fighter the fans love to hate, will only gain respect in this one as he comes in injured on short notice. After beginning his career 11-0, a streak that earned him a championship, Ben Ladin has dropped 10 of 14, and needs a win here to remain in the top rankings. Do is a former Olympic wrestler with very good punching abilities that has had an up and down career. Having fought for a title twice, Do can handle the spotlight in this high profile match up. Both men have black belts and top notch wrestling, as well as some of the best standup in the division, but Do has shown a tendency to cut which may pose a problem against Ben Ladin’s superior Muay Thai. Ben Ladin has taken offense to Do calling him “Ben Losin” and emotion may affect his fight plan. A very close match up on paper that should provide plenty of excitement for MMA fans!

Arnel’s Prediction: Ladin via TKO, Round 3

Kelly’s Prediction: Ladin TKO, Round 1

Bass’ Prediction: Ladin via KO, Round 2

4th Preliminary Card Fight

Mos Def (19-9-1) vs. Woohun Do (18-10-3), 155lbs:

Our preliminary co-headliner moves into the lightweight division with one of the biggest fights of the year as #3 “Mighty” Mos Def looks to stake his claim to a title shot with a win over the #1 ranked “String Bean” Woohun Do. This fight would headline any other event’s main card and is a testimony to the depth and level of talent on this card! Two very evenly matched fighters take the cage in this title eliminator to see who gets the next shot at the belt. Fighting out of Simon Bruce’s (Jonny Do) camp, Woohun may be the best out of the Do family. After winning a title early in his career, Do has struggled a bit as of late, and looks for a huge win that will validate his #1 hype ranking. Def, a black belt in BJJ, earned Sub Of The Night honors in his last outing and is very confident should the fight go to the ground. With a win this weekend, Def has a legitimate claim to top ranking and should get his second shot at a title. This fight is almost too close to call and is one of the favorites to win Fight OF The Night.

Arnel’s Prediction: Do via Decision

Kelly’s Prediction: Do via Decision

Bass’ Prediction: Do via Decision

5th Preliminary Card Fight

Karl Grossman (31-21-1) vs. Birigiz Ignatiev (19-7-1), 135lbs:

We close out the prelims with another big one as # 3 Karl Grossman squares off against #4 Birigiz “One Eye Squint” Ignatiev in a battle of former champions! Grossman is a world class wrestler with excellent endurance, however it is his standup skills that have given him recognition as an elite fighter. Coming off of a win in the welterweight division (170lbs), Grossman returns to 135 to make another championship run while still in his prime. Ignatiev also has excellent standup, as well as BJJ skills that equals his opponent’s. After winning a championship with a devastating head kick, Ignatiev has lost three of his last four and needs a win to remain at the top of the division’s rankings. Ignatiev is building a reputation as a very exciting fighter with his last six fights ending in the 1st round. The judges can probably take this one off as I expect an early display of fireworks.

Arnel’s Prediction: Grossman via Decision

Kelly’s Prediction: Grossman via Decision

Bass’ Prediction: Grossman via KO, Round 1

1st Main Card Fight

Karl Hungus (28-22) vs. Rolando Souto (22-14-2), 170lbs:

There is no break in the action as we begin the main card with yet another top 5 match up! #3 ranked “Hellraiser” Karl Hungus fights #4 “Catcher” Rolando Souto in a welterweight title eliminator that features two more former champions. Souto possesses excellent hidden attributes and will pit his speed, lethal high kicks, and knees against Hellraiser’s boxing, wrestling, and cardio. This battle features two of the more decorated fighters in the Tycoon world. Hungus has won 7 Sub OTN awards, a KO OTN award, and 2 Fight OTN awards, including a hard fought unanimous decision victory in his last cage appearance. Souto has a KO OTN of his own, 3 Fight OTN honors, and 6 Sub OTN awards, including a second round finish of Jon Jones in his last outing. Both men have evenly matched skills and the outcome could come down to has the bigger heart and who just wants it more. This one will be a war, ladies and gentlemen! What a great fight to kick off the main card!

Arnel’s Prediction: Hungus via Decision

Kelly’s Prediction: Hungus via Submission, Round 2

Bass’ Prediction: Hungus via Decision

2nd Main Card Fight

Titus Arellius (16-9) vs. Andrei Chikatilo (19-10), 265lbs:

Here we go with the heavyweights, folks, as we spend the rest of the evening determining who will be left in title contention! #12 “Polan” Titus Arellius (coming off of a victory that saw him win Forbidden Violence’s heavyweight crown in a tough Fight Of The Night performance) brings his championship form to Evil Evolution in a match up against #6 “The Red Ripper” Andre Chikatilo. Chikatilo is a former champion himself and brings world class boxing and a good gas tank into this battle. Only two of Chikatilo’s 29 fights have gone to the judge’s scorecards and the fans are expecting to see a finish in this one. These two fighters are among the world’s elite in skill level with an ever so slight advantage going to Arellius in wrestling and Muay Thai. This is another Fight Of The Night favorite as both men look to crack the top ten in Evil’s rankings, yet another testimony to how stacked this division is!

Arnel’s Prediction: Arellius via Decision

Kelly’s Prediction: Arellius via Decision

Bass’ Prediction: Arellius via KO, Round 3

3rd Main Card Fight

Simon Bruce (24-10) vs. Adam Vymiatajec (22-10), 265lbs:

I just get more excited as we go on as the remainder of the card stays in the top ten of the heavyweight division! Former champion Simon Bruce steps out of the managerial role and back into the cage to make his own run at another title! Bruce puts his #4 ranking on the line against #10 “Big Bang” Adam Vymiatajec, who is making a run at another title himself. Bruce is a true warrior as he steps back into the cage injured after suffering a TKO loss to Marcus Avery last weekend. He’ll be looking to erase that memory with a win this weekend against another formidable opponent in Vymiatajec. Big Bang is coming off of a spectacular 1st round KO of Daouda Kaho last weekend, but needs a victory against Bruce to cement his position in the top ten. These men are evenly matched in the ground game, but look for both to want to stand and duke it out. With both fighters having won 4 Fight OTN’s and 3 KO OTN’s each, this should be a test of attrition and will. Hat’s off to these two fighters for stepping up to the plate and back into the cage for the second time in a week! This is what it’s all about, folks – giving the fans the best fights out there!

Arnel’s Prediction: Vymiatajec via Submission

Kelly’s Prediction: Bruce via KO, Round 2

Bass’ Prediction: Vymiatajec via TKO, Round 3

Co-Main Event

Marcus Avery (10-2) vs. James Hetfield (12-7), 265lbs:

I can’t wait for this match up as our Co-Main Event of the evening features #3 ranked heavyweight Marcus “The Immortal” Avery against #9 James Hetfield! This one has been a long time in the making as both are fan favorites and are riding impressive win streaks into battle. Avery is a great wrestler who held the Dominance and TIP heavyweight titles before making his way to Evil Evolution. At 24 years of age, Avery has incredibly advanced MMA skills and looks to be in the title picture for years to come. Hetfield is on a mission to get another shot at the title. Winning three of his last four by way of submission, decision, and knockout, Hetfield has shown the kind of well rounded skills required to stay atop of Evil’s rankings. After knocking out #10 Vymiatajec less than two weeks ago, Hetfield climbs back into the cage to satisfy the Japanese fans who mob him wherever he goes. When asked about fighting so regularly, Hetfield was quoted as saying, “I love these fans over here. If they want a champion, let’s do it right now!” No doubt that both of these men love to fight! The fans are the real winners in this one as we will finally see what would happen if they squared off against each other. Hold onto your seats! I expect a deafening cheer for both men, before and after the fight! I know I’ll be on my feet for the action!

Arnel’s Prediction: Hetfield via Submission, Round 2

Kelly’s Prediction: Hetfield via Decision

Bass’ Prediction: Avery via TKO, Round 3

Main Event

Jamie Coton (21-11) vs. Ilya Murometz (25-15), 265lbs:

Here we go, 3 rounds in the Heavyweight division to determine who is the baddest man in Japan! Introducing, fighting out of the red corner, with 7 Fight OTN’s, 1 Sub OTN, and 6 KO OTN awards, Hall of Famer and current #1 ranked heavyweight, Jamie “The Afterlife” Coton!!! And his opponent, fighting out of the blue corner, with 5 OTN awards, 5 submissions, and 12 big KO finishes, fighting out of the camp of Harriet Marshall, #5 ranked heavyweight Ilya Murometz!!! Let’s get it on!! Manager Jamie Coton steps back into the cage as legendary Tycoon fighter, “The Afterlife”!!! Coton is a killer, ladies and gentlemen! He has finished his last 5 opponents, 4 by brutal knockout, and is stepping into the cage for the second time in 8 days after lighting up Urijah Calaway last weekend. He seems to be on a mission and with a win over Murowitz, look for him to get the 12th title fight of his career. Coton’s reign at the top will be tested this weekend, however, as a future Hall of Famer Ilya Murometz brings his lethal standup in against Coton. Murowitz became an instant fan favorite last weekend when he knocked out Ben Ladin in dramatic fashion, setting up a battle sure to leave one popular fighter vying for a title, and the other unconscious! Murometz and Coton’s fighting styles are very similar and rarely do any of their fights go to the scorecard. These men like to strike, ladies and gentlemen, and although both have good jit, they prefer to give the fans what they want – knockouts!!! For Murometz, a win over Coton would catapult him into the first title fight of his legendary career and his hype would skyrocket with back-to-back wins since signing with Evil Evolution. For Coton, a win validates his claim to be the best heavyweight in Japan! Don’t blink in this one! Both men will be looking to finish the fight early. In yesterday’s press conference, when asked about fighting another legend, Murometz responded in Russian, “I want to be a champion,” to which Coton replied, “I’m going to hurt him,” before walking out. It’s going to get nasty, MMA fans!!!!

Arnel’s Prediction: Coton via Decision

Kelly’s Prediction: Coton via TKO, Round 3

Bass’ Prediction: Coton via TKO, Round 3
