Event Preview: T22: FC V

Author:Grant Brophy

TROID: Forais Chruthaíonn V

Date: 15th July 2014

Venue: Hayashi’s Lounge, London (2000)

Hey everyone, and welcome to another Preview we have for you. This time, we are previewing FC: V which will feature 9 fights from Troid regulars along with a fight consisting of one fighter from each of Troids owners! We will also crown a NEW Lightweight Champion so let’s get right to the action.

Nate Lamb 0-0-0 (0-0-0) vs Jan Lamiglat 0-1-0 (0-0-0)

Interesting battle here as we see two fighters make their Troid debuts, and one of them making their professional debut. Lamiglat never got to showcase his abilities in his last fight so he will be looking to make up for that here. If he is unable to take Lamb down then he will be unable to win. Close fight to call this one.

PREDICTION: Lamiglat to win via Submission in Round 1

Hank Marvin 2-5-0 (1-5-0) vs Rohan Khan 2-3-0 (0-0-0)

Marvin will be looking to take Khan down to the ground, where he has the advantage. He is on a horrible 5 fight losing streak, and will need to avoid the punches of Khan in order to break that. Khan will be looking to make a statement in the division by picking up the win against Marvin.

PREDICTION: Khan to win via TKO in Round 2

Titus Andronicus 1-0-0 (0-0-0) vs Cian Chulainn 2-2-1 (0-0-0)

Here we have the owner vs owner fight in Troid! My own Titus Andronicus will be squaring off against Craig Brophy’s Cian Chulainn. Chulainn will be looking to take Titus down, but may fancy his chances in the stand up, going against a fighter 4 years younger than him! Titus will be looking to score a KO win early, in an attempt to end it before he is tired and becomes an easy victim to a takedown. I am going to have to go with my own guy on this one, despite the obvious disadvantage he has.

PREDICTION: Andronicus to win via KO in Round 1

Yuri Solvynov 1-1-0 (1-1-0) vs Tyrone Woodley 1-3-0 (1-0-0)

This battle will be going straight to the ground, but it will be interesting to see who gains the dominant positon. Woodley will require a dominant position more in order to utilise his GnP, while Solvynov will be looking to gain a dominant position for his subs, but will be confident in being able to submit Woodley from his back. I anticipate a good back and forth battle between these two.

PREDICTION: Solvynov to win via Sub in Round 2

Adam Ali 3-1-0 (0-0-0) vs Brian Jenen 6-5-0 (2-3-0)

Good match up here as Ali takes on Jenen. Ali seems to prefer tiring out his opponents by slamming them down. He has scored a KO with a slam and also a KO through tiring his opponent and counter punching. Jenen loves scoring submission wins, so Ali will have to be careful not to be caught by “The Captain” after taking him down. The factor that may decide this fight is Jenen seems tired before the fight so Ali may be active in wearing him down.

PREDICTION: Ali to win via Unanimous Decision

Wheasy Whee 5-4-0 (3-2-0) vs Brad Norvell 1-1-0 (1-0-0)

Dangerous ground fighter Whee will be looking to win against surprise package Norvell. Whee has demonstrated his ability to win in a variety of ways on the ground and will be looking to use that experience to win against Norvell. Norvell surprised everyone, including me, when he was ranked bottom of the division, and he defeated the #1 ranked guy in the division in JG Wentworth. It will be interesting to see Norvell, primarily a wrestler, adapting to Whees ability on the ground. This will be a close fight, and one fans will be watching eagerly.

PREDICTION: Whee to win via Submission in Round 2

Carlos Centurion 4-0-1 (0-0-0) vs Felix Storm 4-0-0 (0-0-0)

Here we have two highly skilled, undefeated fighters making their Troid debuts. Centurion has displayed great striking, winning two fights via TKO Cut and another by Submission Strikes. He seems to favour the clinch, which will be interesting as he goes against dangerous grappler Storm. Storm will be looking to utilise his wrestling to compliment his BJJ skills. It will be interesting to see who comes out on top in this bout.

PREDICTION: Centurion to win via TKO (Cut) in Round 2

LIGHTWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP FIGHT

Jack Olin 4-0-0 (4-0-0) vs Elijah Hart 3-2-0 (3-0-0)

Here we have our lightweight championship between Jack Olin and Elijah Hart. Olin will be looking to use his fantastic wrestling to get him into a position to GnP Hart out and win him the fight. The one place he may lose is Hart can win in all areas. Hart has won a fight via TKO and 2 fights via Sub. It is important that Olin doesn’t get caught by Harts submission while he attempts to turn him into a pancake.

PREDICTION: Hart to win via Submission in Round 1 and become the Lightweight Champion!

CO-MAIN EVENT

Matt Green 4-0-0 (4-0-0) vs Lane Brooks 6-4-0 (3-0-0)

“The Gravy Raven” has been a hugely popular figure since joining the Troid ranks, scoring impressive wins over a number of top contenders. He will be looking to use his BJJ to score a win over his toughest competitor to date. Brooks has shown his ability to win from a variety of positions, kicks, knees and submissions. If Green manages to take him down, he will be looking to use his Submissions to score a win.

PREDICTION: Brooks to win via Submission in Round 1

MAIN EVENT - #1 Contenders Fight

Lexington Snape 11-5-0 (4-1-0) vs Epi Fongua 4-2-0 (3-0-0)

This fight is to decide the #1 contender to Charles Blackburn’s title at Slider Kings and whoever wins will be a worthy contender. Snape has done well since losing to Blackburn, scoring 2 wins in the process. Fongua will be his toughest challenge so far, and Snape will be looking to use his clinch to cause some serious damage to Fongua. Fongua has been impressive since signing for Troid, scoring 2 KO wins. Fongua will be looking to avoid the clinch and strike from distance. It will be another case of who gains the preferred position will win the fight.

PREDICTION: Snape to win via TKO in Round 2

That is it from me for another event from Troid, as we build up to the next Slider Kings event which will feature EVERY CHAMPIONSHIP BELT on the line so be prepared for a fantastic event which will be coming up this weekend!
