FFC 8: Caine vs Kalnoky

Event Preview: FFC 8: Caine vs Kalnoky
FORTITUDE FC (200K+)
2014-06-28, Rio de Janeiro, Hayashi's Lounge - Rio
Author:

Fortitude FC, in conjunction with ORIGO Wear clothing shop and the RISSA fighting alliance, would like to present FFC 8: Caine vs Kalnoky. This epic showdown is taking place on June 28. The only way to see this fight is to buy yourself a ticket and get yourself over to Hayashi's Lounge, Rio de Janiero, Brazil.

(Background)

Diego Sanchez is arguably one of the top Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fighters in the entire Fortitude FC league. When he gets guys to the ground, he finishes them, end of story. He is coming off back-to-back defeats against some serious competition. The last time he was put in this position, with his back to the wall, he went on a three fight streak of nothing but submission victories. This is a fighter that, win or lose, has never seen the second round of a fight.

They say that styles make fights. That's absolutly true and in this case we're looking at what could amount to a legendary, and I don't use that term lightly, LEGENDARY ground battle. Sam Watson is probably the best wrestler in the company, perhaps even in Brazil. His ground and pound is his primary focus and he has a perfect 100% takedown rate. He gets guys to the ground and he aggressively pounds on them. Will he want to bring a guy like Diego Sanchez to the ground? I guess we will see.

(The Action)

(Heavyweight Division) Diego Sanchez (7-4) versus Sean Watson (5-0)

(Preview) There is no possible way this fight goes the distance. These two fighters are absolite finishers with Diego Sanchez fighting in a finish or be finished mindset, very similarly to his real life counterpart, and of course the destructive ground and pound style of Watson. Neither of these guys are going to want to leave it in the hands of the judges. Diego Sanchez is a two time world champion that has held titles in BFC and KOMMA.

(Prediction) I actually give the advantage to Sean Watson. He needs to curb his enthusiasm on the ground and keep himself from falling into a submission but if he starts hitting Sanchez, he could put him away quick. So yeah, Sean Watson takes this via ground and pound.

(Bantamweight Division, Championship Fight) Benny Caine (12-4) versus Tomas Kalnoky (8-3)

(Preview) The vacant bantamweight championship of the world is up for grabs and we get the pleasure of bearing witness to thos battle. Benny Caine and Tomas Kalnoky are a pair of submission specialists that focus the entirety of their skills on forcing their opponent to tap out. Benny Caine is a black belt and Tomas Kalnoky is a brown belt; Kalnoky is a vastly superior wrestler however.

(Prediction) This fight could go either way and depend on who has the better game plan. “Everything else is virtually identical”. However, I will give this one to Benny Caine based on the level of competition he has faced. He has beaten superior wrestlers with brown belts.

(Welterweight Division, Championship Fight) Rafael Misiek (11-7-1) versus Grant Benton (10-7)

(Preview) In this exciting welterweight championship fight, we have the heavy handed striker Rafael Misiek facing off against the well rounded Grant Benton. After competing at middleweight and composing a meek record of 3-2, Misiek signed to fight in an open weight league where he regularly fought against heavyweights and people that couldn't even make the heavyweight limit. He earned a combined record of 8-5-1 against the larger men with several finishes for good measure. This will be Rafael Misiek's first fight at his natural weight in his entire career. Grant Benton has often bounced betewen welterweight and lightweight. He has earned a title shot in every company that he has competed for but has always been on the outside looking in. Grant will take it to you anywhere the fight takes place: on the feet, in the clinch, on the ground.

(Prediction) Grant Benton prefers to stand and trade power punches with opponents but I suspect he will bring out his wrestling for this fight and attempt to submit Misiek. Both of these guys have really solid chins and excellent gas tanks so expect this one to go the distance.
