Event Preview: HFC-8 Kellolinnake vs Mihalev
Honour Fighting Championship
2014-07-26, Helsinki, The Underground - Helsinki
Author:Tony Rossi

Alright guys sorry for the late preview. This merger has taken up way more time and effort than I thought it would. Not only did we almost double the roster but also Showtime and I doubled the number of managers we have to deal with and that is a lot of new personalities. I can honestly say it’s been fun and frustrating. I hope all of you that came over in the merger are enjoying your time here. Now with all of that being said lets dive into it since it is so late.

Preliminary Bout Number 1- Light Heavyweight Fight (205lbs)

Ads "Striker" Barton (0-2) {0-2} versus Pakile "The Pikeman" Pike (1-2) {0-1}

Both of these guys need a win in a big way. Both of them are winless so far in Honour but one of them will change that. Barton is a striker who has a bit of trouble in the defense part. He has been knocked out in the first round of both of his fights so he could be in trouble. Pike can strike as he has some boxing but his only win came via submission. He has a great chance to win this if he can get the fight to the ground, if he can’t he should look to land a few clean ones to the chin. I think Pike picks up a win here in the first round.

Preliminary Bout Number 2- Lightweight Fight (155lbs)

Winston Churchill (1-2) {1-1} versus Jussi "Mutant" Hempele (0-1) {0-0}

Churchill was ranked before the loss and the merger. He needs this fight to spring board him back up the ladder and towards getting ranked once again. Churchill will want to use his boxing to stick and move to avoid the clinch. If he can do that he will pick up the win. Hempele has yet to taste victory and he will not be able to let this turn into a slug fest if he wants to get the win. This fight should be tough on both of these guys and I think Churchill gets the win by TKO in the second round.

Preliminary Bout Number 3- Welterweight Fight (170lbs)

Daniel "Tytan" Trzcinski (1-2) {1-1} versus Dorofes "General " Orlov (0-2) {0-2}

Trzcinski has a trilogy to complete with Bowman and I am sure he will be focused on that and not just Orlov. Tytan can win a fight if it is going to a heavy amount of stand up and I am sure this one will. He will need to watch of Orlov’s clinch which I have heard he has been working on. Orlov needs to working on something as he has been defeated both times he has stepped into the octagon and if he keeps losing he might find himself without a contract. I like Trzcinski chances in this one as we have seen him rebound from a loss before. I got him winning in the third round by TKO.

Preliminary Bout Number 4- Light Heavyweight Fight (205lbs)

Danny Lynch (1-0) {1-0} versus Teijo "Fredi" Fredrikson (2-4-1) {0-1-0}

Lynch started his career here in Honour and he is looking to get another win in this one. The Irishman has a great stand up game and just enough wrestling to get by for now. He will need to use his boxing skills in this one to stick and move. Even though Lynch is the far better boxer both of these guys have a great stand up game. Fredrikson can move in and out of the clinch and mix his punches with kicks and knees. He needs to chop at the body of Lynch and slow him down from moving. That will give him the chance to mix his strikes up better and steel this win. I think Lynch might be a little too fast and I think he gets the win in the first round by TKO.

Preliminary Bout Number 5- Featherweight Fight (145lbs)

Andy "The Punisher" Clark (0-0) {0-0} versus Tyson "The Prince Of Perfection" Niel (2-2) {0-1}

Clark will be making his debut and he does not have an easy opponent ahead of him. From what I hear Clark is a stand up fighter and I am not sure if he can match skills with Niel. If he has any ground game now would be the time to use it. We have seen Tyson lose the ground battle more than once. Niel has a very solid chin and decent offense to go with. I am sure he would prefer the clinch game but that is where Clark could put Niel on the ground. This fight could go either way.

Main Card Bout Number 1- Bantamweight Fight (135lbs)

Pelle Kickelssen (1-1) {0-1} versus Mavlet "Tapout" Gavril (4-1) {0-0}

Kickelssen made his debut against now Honour Bantamweight Champion The Sigit. That fight did not play out in favor of Pelle but now he gets a chance to redeem himself against another fighter making their debut. Pelle will need to avoid the ground game again in this one, and if he can he will easily become the favored to win the fight. Gavril can match his opponents wrestling and he is a much better Jiu Jitsu fighter so the ground will suit him well. If the fight stays standing Gavril will have no shot so he should be looking for some counter takedowns. I think Gavril takes a beating but eventually gets the fight to the ground and wins by submission in the second round.

Main Card Bout Number 2- Heavyweight Fight (265lbs)

Tomasz "Dynamo" Nawarecki (3-2) {2-0} versus Fred "The Fredinator" Frederiksen (2-1) {1-1}

Nawarecki has won two fights in a row and to get a third he will need to keep the fight standing. He is giving up a lot in the ground game he will need to overcompensate in the stand up. If he can keep it standing though it’s his fight. Frederiksen lost to Vihtori Kellolinnake in a title fight so this is a great chance for him to overcome his loss. He has relied on his wrestling in the past and he will need to do it again in this one. I think Frederiksen gets the takedown and wins by TKO via ground and pound.

Main Card Bout Number 3- Middleweight Title Fight (185lbs)

Psycho Boy (2-0) {2-0} versus Dario "The Killer" Silva (5-5) {1-0}

This is the first of two title fights tonight and this one should be a good one. Boy is the much younger and less experienced fighter in this one. He will need to be on high alert for any veteran tricks and he will need to press this fight to the ground. If he can get the fight to the ground he should be able to finish the fight. Silva has been submitted three times before and it doesn’t seem that he has improved his submission defense over the years. Silva is on the other hand a decent wrestler and he will be the far better striker in this bout. If he can keep it standing Boy could end up being in a lot of trouble. Silva does have the better stand up and he has proven it. Only two of his five wins have been by TKO or better but he has had constant improvement with his striking. This fight could end up going to the third or fourth round but I think Boy eventually gets the submission win.

Main Card Bout Number 4- Middleweight Fight (185lbs)

Don Schmidt (8-5) {0-0} versus Charles Kota (2-0) {1-0}

The winner of this was most likely going to get the winner of Boy against Silva. Now with the addition of Barbarian Dan Stall will be getting the winner to combine the titles. It is very possible that one of these two if not both will get lost in the shuffle. Both of these guys need the win and maybe one more to get the shot at a title for whoever holds it. Don is a striker through and through and his major flaw is the ground game. That has been exposed a lot lately so I am sure he has been working on his takedown defense. Kota is a wrestler and he has good bases in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He can get a quick takedown and he will be looking to do so to take advantage of Schmidt but he needs to be worried about a counter punch that could put his lights out. I think Kota gets the win and I think it happens early in round one.

Main Event Main Card Bout Number 5- Heavyweight Title Fight (265lbs)

Vihtori "Trt" Kellolinnake (5-1) {1-0} versus Burak "Big" Mihalev (10-2) {1-0}

This is the big title fight we have been waiting for. So far no Honour Champion has been able to defend their title. Kellolinnake looks to be the first to do so when he makes his first defense against Burak Mihalev.  Kellolinnake will need to use his wrestling to keep that fight standing where he will have a big advantage. Burak can strike but not at the level of Vihtori. Kellolinnake should be able to knock out Mihalev if it stays standing, but if it goes to the ground we have another story on our hands. Burak should be able to submit Kellolinnake if the fight does reach the floor. Vohtori’s only loss came by submission so he needs to be prepared. I think Trt ends this fight by TKO in the second round.

Sorry for how late this but I still hope you enjoyed it.
