 Doing my usual rounds at Blitz Headquarters in New York. i got a phonecall from Crisse at BRC.
Crisse - Dude we need you here asap!
Me - Why, whats up?
Crisse - Our big event is coming up and i need someone to run the presser for me while i fly the jet out to pick up to get some of the fighters from Europe here.
Me - Aww for fu... ok ill fly over there now.
Flying out to Tokyo i was greeted at the airport by the Japanese fight fans as they eagerly awaited the plane with the fights to come in. Walking with Creed, Machine, Paulsen and Shiv who i picked up on my way to Tokyo. The fans were cheering them like hero's. We jumped in seperate limo's and the fighters headed off to the Tokyo Hilton Hotel where i was also going, not for some rest though i had to go and do the presser.
I went upto the hotel room quickly to change into the Gesundheit Designs clothes that Crisse had sent over and headed down to the presser.
Me - Ok thank you ladies and gentlemen of the media gathered here today to discuss the fights and also to the fans who have taking the time to come here also. Today marks a historic day in BRC's great history as BRC holds its first PPV. Its also our first time traveling to Tokyo to show the fans some great superfights with some of the best fighters on the planet. Now lets get this show underway whos got the first question.
Reporter - Hi there, I am Yamaskiki Tazru from MMA Japan. I have a question about tonights main event. How do you think the muliple weight champion Lee will fair when he takes on Blitz NY's champion with the weight differences.
Me - Lee has had no problems shifting up the weight classes when required hes a natural featherweight now. His natural weight class before he lost alot of weight was welterweight which many people forget. Both guys pack a punch and neither like the ground game it should be a very entertaining fight on the feet.
Reporter - Do you see a knockout on the cards then in this fight?
Me - To be honest no. Both guys have got great chins i expect them to make this a five round war and a contender for fight of the night if not fight of the year!
Reporter - One last question about the fight. Who do you see winning?
Me - Well thats a tricky question on paper Hall is a highly skilled fighter and could have his way with Lee in the clinch. If Lee avoids the deadly clinch game of Hall it really could go either way in this fight.
Reporter - My pick of the fights tonight is the Heavyweights. Overeem vs Creed, Champion vs Champion. How do you see this fight ending up?
Me - With one of them knocked out. Creed is Ascensions heavyweight champion and has only ever been to a decision once. Overeem has some serious skills inside of the clinch and does have the power there to unleash hell. I like both these fighters they are just total stand up warriors and will be swinging for the knockout tonight. If i had to pick a winner i'd stick my neck out and say Creeds power could be the winning factor in this fight but Overeem could get the clinch and if he does it might be a long drawn out battle between the two.
Reporter - What about the managers in the fight being ranked the number one and two managers?
Me - Goes without saying that this fight will decide who is the better manager between the two of them. They have been going at it for a few weeks now trading shots for the number one spot and there is a bit of bad blood there with the recent free agent pick up when Rutten got War Machine when both men were trying to get him. Everything is in place for a classic match up between them.
Reporter - Its megafight galore here in this card. Another interesting match up is the battle of the smaller guys. As Vicious champion now turned BRC fighter Wong takes on BRC's champion Koskinen. What do you think of this battle?
Me - Well i know how all these fans here love fast paced action packed fights and this fight should be no different. In his last fight Koskinen pulled off a huge last minute knock out in a fight which many had him losing on the judges scorecards. It was a total and utter war between those two and i expect no different here tonight. Wong is one of the fastest and smallest fighters around. He goes at it a hunderd miles per hour and does not stop over 5 rounds. Hes never been finished in any of his fights either. It should be a great war between these two. Wong has been rocked in a previous fight though so maybe just maybe Koskinen can get the knockout tonight with those iron fists of his.
Reporter - Thanks and i have another question which round do you think the Paulsen Ripgut fight is going to end?
Me - Both guys are well matched and can throw some brutal power into there shots. Of late Ripgut has been finding his power and we all know that Paulsen has the power. I don't see this leaving round one if i am to be truthful. With the way i call fights but ill be wrong and it will be a five round slobber knocker from start to finish.
Reporter - Its another Champion vs Champion match up as well it appears BRC have pulled out all the stops to secure the biggest and best match ups here tonight.
Me - Yes they have Ripgut is the closing down Rising Sun champion and from what i understand is one of the most feared heavyweights in Japan right now. Its great for one of the Tokyo orgs own champions to be fighting on this card which could shatter some records here in Japan.
Me - I'd like to now take a few questions from the fans. Now free tickets ill be handing out after the presser is over so don't ask me pester Crisse once he comes here for some also. The fighters will be down later to do some signing and picture taking events with the fans ok lets go.
Fan - Hey, I am a big fan of Machine. Hes fighting here tonight on this card against another stand up fighter Gzrel. What a fight that is. My question is do you think this will be a knock out of the night type of fight?
Me - Yeah i am pumped for that fight too. Both big power and have been knocked out before. I give this to the second or third minute of the fight before someone will be faceplanted.
Fan - Lee is my hero. Holding belts in all those different divisions. Do you see him at any point holding the featherweight title also.
Me - Personally i love that fight between Lee and Koskinen depending on the fights tonight i could see that fight happening in the near future. You will need to ask James and Crisse though on that one.
Fan - Alot of big named managers on the cards tonight. How hard was it to get these fights lined up?
Me - Crisse told me it wasn't much of a problem most of these fights were booked well in advance. We would just like to thank all the great managers for taking these fights here tonight and hope that they all enjoy the show. Thanks y'all its been great and ill see you tomorrow night at the fights!
