CCF 51: Rad vs. Baba! PREVIEW

Event Preview: CCF 51: Rad vs. Baba
Cornell Cage Fighting
2012-04-23, Los Angeles, Hyashi's Lounge - Los Angeles
Author:K Rad

Welcome back to the City of Angels ladies and gentlemen for the impending CCF 51: Rad vs. Baba extravaganza. After the success of the initial 50 Cornell Cage Fighting events I am very excited to be here with you all for what is going to be another 50 fantastic weekly occasions of mixed martial arts madness. We're back at Hyashi's Lounge where an expected 2000 silly looking bozos and their fat girlfriends are expected to watch both the heavy and super heavyweight titles be contested in what is guaranteed to be a massive night of knock outs. There is still one fight pending a manager's approval so the card is subject to change but come with me while we take a look at what is currently the overcard:

"The Eastern Assassin" Sladen Shockner vs. Chris "The Golden Boy" Wells
Super Heavyweight. TITLE FIGHT!

We kick off the main card with a title fight between two veterans of the cage, "The Eastern Assassin" Shockner and reigning champ, "The Golden Boy" Wells. Wells is riding high on a 5 fight win streak, including 3 title defenses and he will be difficult to beat tonight as Shockner looks to gain some consistency in a recently bumpy record. What Shockner may lack in comparative boxing skills, he makes up in muay Thai and an awesome t-shirt but "The Golden Boy's" wrestling and ground game will also be something to concern "Assassin". Shockner may be able to use his 10cm height advantage to try to keep distance and drop some accurate bombs, looking for an early KO but I think this will be another successful title defense for Wells and I expect him to notch up another KO victory.

Asbjorn Rundstrom vs. "Starscream" Ronnie Boxer
Middleweight

Two veteran CCF fighters and middleweight exchampions, Rundstrom and "Starscream" Boxer get ready to go toe to toe for the 1st time in a highly anticipated slugfest. Both men have taken 6 KOs from 7 wins and there is plenty of potential for fireworks here at Rundstrom has an impressively well rounded striking game to take on Boxer's big time boxing. Boxer has the 10cm height advantage which should take a little of the sting out of Rundstrom's high kicking game and allow him to be more accurate with his punches and I think that this, couples with better morale should be able to help Rundstrom along to a 5 loss in a row record.

Nick "Acid" House vs. Azka "Money" Fermansyah
Welterweight

Two up and coming welterweights throw down for your entertainment with "Acid" House and "Money" Fermansyah taking a rematch for a fight they fought when both were members of the QFC circuit. Way back then it was Fermansyah who took the TKO victory in just 45 seconds but both men have come a long way since then. "Money" will be aiming for the KO win once more and "Acid" will be keen to take take the fight down to try to notch up the submission but there is one common theme between the two men: wrestling will be key. The two men are equally matched in terms of wrestling skill so it will be interesting to see who manages to keep the fight going according to their plan given both men are very even in terms of size. Just to keep this interesting, I am going to back House to win this fight via submission and hopefully give us an occassion to see a 3rd installment in this feud.

"Macho Man" Randolf Vicious vs. "Big Man" Tom Maury
Heavyweight. Co-Main Event!

On the topic of rematches we have two of the most exciting heavyweights in the organisation ready to mix up their incredible record of finishing fights. Vicious has only had one of his 11 fights go to decision, winning all 7 victories via knock out whereas Maury also has only one decision to his name and the other 8 of his 9 wins coming via submission. The last time these two men met it was Vicious who came out on top with a striking victory in the 1st round but Maury is confident he will be able to pull out a win here and get another shot at the HW title. Maury certainly lives up to his monicker of "Big Man", standing at 225cm whereas Vicious is only 188cm which will give the former a larger striking advantage but I think Vicious has what it takes to ground and pound a win here via KO.

"Special K" Kickin Rad vs. Showhey "giant" Baba
Heavyweight. Main Event TITLE FIGHT!

Two more big men fight for the 265lbs title in the main event as the reigning champion "Special K" Rad looks to defend his title for the 6th time against challenger "Giant" Baba who has been making a name for himself through the unleashment of some brutal and fast Ko victories in his last 4 fights. Both men prefer Thai boxing and have what it takes to put on a scintillating fireworks display for the fans. Baba is yet to be defeated in his professional career and will be feeling very confident as he goes into this bout and I think conditioning is going to play a major role in this bout as both men seem to have the chins to keep this fight going. A tough bout to pick but it is difficult to go past the champ as he has taken on some good quality opponents in order to retain his belt and I feel that "Giant" will be another of his victims, most likely via decision.

There you have it ladies and gentlemen, the first installment in the home stretch as CCF races its way towards 100 weekly main events! I am K-Rad and I hope you've enjoyed the ride so far and will keep with me for the rest of the adventure. See you at the fights!
