At a breakfast interview the day after the much anticipated debut of Cantrell Willis in the Ring Wars platform, and after a disappointing loss, the fighter had this to say.

First of, I just wanted to say thanks for the interview.

Do you think you trained enough for the fight ?
Cantrell : I came into the fight well prepared for the match, me and my team at the Wasps Nest have really gotten ready for this first fight at Ring Wars. We worked on the game plan and to me it seemed we got it in the bag.

When you came out after the bell it seemed you had it under control right ?
Cantrell : Yeah you can watch the replay and we both came out guns drawn, I laid down 3 takedown attempts before i got him. He also was throwing heat but i was able to slip and slide around them.

What happened then?
Cantrell : Well, i went for a takedown, and he sprawled then as we straightened out he some how caught me on the chin. With some combo. He was really strong. And i gut cut. After that, he came at me with some combos and i got cracked and went down. He just swarmed all over me and that was it.

Do you think you could have done things differently?
Cantrell : I could say other things but it is, what it is, I got dropped, he got me. Thats it, he was also pretty strong, but im not here to make excuses. Im in the ring to win.

It seemed that you didnt look like you were into the fight at the onset of the fight, your body language just wasnt right Was there something wrong?
Cantrell : No. I was fine. I had tried to gain around 30lbs. - 40lbs. a week or so before the fight and maybe taking all that supplements affected me. I dont know. I think i got it going though.

Yeah, it seemed you were a full weight class lighter then him, did this affect you in any way?
Cantrell : Well he was definitely bigger then me, but i took the fight, and i wanted to fight. I wanted to test my skills against a much bigger opponent. Im here to fight. To put on a show, and to show my best. Also i was able to see, or we were able to see the holes in my game. Im always looking to improve.

Last question. Did you get hurt or injured from the fight?
Cantrell : No. The only thing is i got cut on my chin. It really was one of those freak things, I got hit and im a usually pretty good at sliding. It was just the luck of the draw in my eyes. I was any ones fight that night, and that night the stars aligned for him.

Do you have any last words for your fans?
Cantrell : Thanks for everything, thanks for so much love. Im get back the W, for you guys. I promise. My mind is just even stronger now.

Well those were the words from the fighters mouth. You heard it first here folks. Hopefully Cantrell rebounds soon, I think he will. You cant keep some one like that down. Such a great and skilled fighter, and just a wonderful guy in general.
