AXF '7 Event Preview

Event Preview: AXF '7
Australian Xtreme Fighting
2015-05-09, Sydney, Sydney Superdome
Author:Louie DePalma

Ladies and Gentlemen, AXF in Sydney is very excited to present to you this weeks epic event coming to you live from the Sydney Superdome where we expect upwards of 18, 500 rabid Australian Xtreme Fight fans to make their way to take in what is easily this young companies greatest event ever.

Not only do we get to enjoy this grande event from Sydneys largest arena but our many fans from across the globe will get to take in the action live and on PPV. This is a big step for this company and without the help and support of many of our friends and those we have worked with in the past this could not have been put together.

With all that being said lets get right to the action. In our Main Event of AXF '7 we have a Heavyweight battle followed up by a LW classic in our Co Main Event of the evening!

Main Event - 265 lbs Mandragoran vs Veide

In our Main Event we see Lan Madragoran make his return to the cage for the first time in 14 months. Following a dispute with his previous management team Lan has been sitting out idle waiting on his no compete clause to run its course.
Luckily for all of us AXF fans that time has finally presented itself and he makes his return in epic style taking on the current CCF HW Champ Varg Veide.
Amazingly and as if this was scripted by a higher power, both of these fighters come into this battle riding 12 fight win streaks, Madragoran holding a very slight advantage in MT and Veide being the more well groomed fighter in the grappling department however in this matchup
I do not envision that meaning much as these 2 warriors will likely stand and bang it out until either the final buzzer sounds or one man no longer maintains the ability to remain upright!

Based on their careers Lan has proven to be a finisher, meaning either he finishes the fight, or is finished seeing on 4 of his 38 career fights go to the judges. Winning 92.5% of his fights by way of a TKO only proves when he makes contact with his opponents chin, the lights go out!
But what could end up being his undoing is the fact that he has seen himself suffer 80% of his career losses in the same fashion, and staring him down on this night is a fighter with almost as storied a career in the TKO department with 81.82% of his finishes by way of a TKO.
There will most certainly be lots of fireworks in this one which will put an exclamation point on this amazing fight card!!

Co-Main Event - 155 lbs Kelly vs Connemara

In our Co Main Event of the evening we see a superfight between two much smaller warriors in comparison to our ME. George Kelly makes his way from NY to take on Jameson Connemara representing Ascension.
This fight breaks down as a fight that could take place on the feet or possibly on the ground, possibly dictated by the Primary advantage possessed by Connemara. In Kelly's last appearance he pulled off an astounding Head Kick KO in a Superfight under the Syn Banner and based on comments in between fights by his camp he is eager to continue his climb up the rankings.
Connemara has won 9 of his past 10, and by Head Kick as well in his last appearance however prior to that he has seen 11 of his last 13 go to the judges including a Gold Medal in the 2015 FW Winter Olympics.
This one will come down to a battle between Kelly's desire to see a finish and Connemara's well rounded gameplan leading him to a decision. Much like our ME this fight will be one to watch for sure!!

205 lbs Kirbs vs Pheu

Next up we see a battle that puts another fighter who had been on a long layoff due this time to a wonky ACL injury as Trent Quo Titan Kirbs had been on the shelf for a 10 month period before making a dramatic return to the AXF cage just 2 weeks ago.
That fight saw Kirbs go back and forth for nearly 3 full rounds before landing a huge uppercut and putting his name back on the list of fighters to watch out for!!
Kirbs opponent tonight Kaka Pheu Pheu, man that name stinks almost as much as the action it describes!! Anyways Kaka makes his way to AXF from London following 4 consectutive victories which culminated in winning the REVO LHW title.
Kirbs is predominately a stand up fighter who mixes in some clinch work however he has not shown he is totally out of his element on the ground as his one submission win certainly gives his opponents cause for concern if they feel they have the advantage on the ground.
On the other side of that coin Pheu is willing to go where ever the fight may take place, and has shown he has the skillset to handle himself in any of the martial arts. Based on that stinky name I believe Kirbs has this one in the bag, unless Pheu remembers his dose of amodium!!

155 lbs Atsushi vs DeBramalo

In our next matchup we have a fight that will possibly see the passing of the guard as Sydney veteran Kuroda Atsushi sees battle for the 52nd time in his career as he takes on young buck Quentin DeBramalo stepping into the cage for the 11th time in his career. Just 2 weeks ago Kuroda pulled off a slick Armbar submission in his superfight with Syn City foghter Toga Masotti in his first appearance in the cage since January of 2015.

Atsushi has mostly been in semi retirement mode helping train the next wave of fighters within Masaru Fighting Systems but recently has shown a desire to return to MMA and the city of Sydney that had made him a favorite by the local fanbase.
Staring him down on the other side of the cage is controversial fighter DeBramalo who looked destined to take the Gold medal during the LW Tycoon Championships only to see that opportunity stolen from him by politics and jealousys.
Quentin has been focussing on his training since that unfortunate time but is ready to test himself against a grizzled veteran with a clear ground game advantage. His Standup skills are clearly more developed then that of Kuroda so this will be a fantastic battle to see if it remains standing, or if it goes to the ground.

265+ lbs Alzate vs Russo

Our final matchup from the main card another fight that puts a grizzled veteran in the cage against a fighter who is seemingly just hitting his stride even if his record doesnt show it. Niko Alzate is a fighter with a well rounded skillset even if his boxing appears to be abit behind that of his opponent however that doesnt stop him from engaging on the feet.

The problem he faces however when doing so is his chin doesnt always like to hold up, which leads us to his opponent Leeroy Russo who has shown more power then Alzate, he also has an iffy chin. Russo comes in sporting a 2 fight win streak that has seen him show a flash of brilliant power, which is a grand rebound from the 4 straight losses he had been riding prior.

Meanwhile Alzate, like DeBramalo was somewhat involved in controversy during the same Tycoon Championships as following a loss it was announced he would still move on to fight for Bronze due to a weight loss disagreement involving the Gold medal finalist.

Following his bronze medal victory Niko returned home to LA to go through the motions in a Decision loss in his return to Insanity, a loss that angered his management team and has him focused and determined to right the good ship Alzate.

This fight will play out with Russo enjoying a 32cm reach advantage which very well could present Alzate with nothing but headaches but you will have to wait until Saturday to see it unfold!!

Well folks thats all the time we have but here is a quick listing of our other fights on this action packed event...
