Sydney Fighter Still Waiting on Dream

Fighter profile of Zach Didion by Chad Didion

SYDNEY- It's Friday in Australia, another beautiful morning.  It's also another long day for Zach Didion starting with a 8 mile run through some of the roughest roads in Sydney.  "All I see is making it one day.  I work hard, I sweat, I have tears, but I know it will pay off one day...It's my dream."

Zach Didion was born May 1st, 1994 in Toledo Ohio.  He was active from the start, actually too active.  "I spent a lot of time in the principles office." Says a laughing Didion.  When Didion was 9 years old his parents got him started in Karate.  "We were at our wits end, he was just always fighting, being destructive, we wanted him to channel this emotion into something positive." says father Chad Didion.

By 11 Zach was winning tournaments in MMA around his home town.  Zachs tenacity, drive and aggression were noted by the local news paper and later picked up Muay Thai instructor Jason Houston.  Houston wanted to train Didion, but this meant moving to Sydney, all but up rooting at the age of 14.  "He has something, something special. I just hate to see that talent go to waste." says Houston.

It was a hard time for Didion, at age 15 his parents, Chad and Julie divorced.  "It was hard.  Here I had this Muay Thai instructor wanting me to follow my dream, but my parents, you know, how do you come up with that kinda cash.  I don't know...my dad did it though." says Zach.  Hard work paid off and Zach went to Sydney with Jason Houston.  The hard part was just about to start.

So now we are here, looking out at a sunrise with this rising talent.  This 8 mile run starting his day, followed by a 5 mile swim, 10 mile bike ride and then to the gym.  Tying his shoe, Zach looks up "Dreams aren't just givin' out, you have to work for them."  He's been sponsored by HGH Nutrients, but he's still waiting on a contract to fight in a organization.  "That's when I've done it, that's my dream, to be signed to a professional contract and fight in a organization."

With a 1-1 record, it's understandable that he hasn't turned heads in Sydney yet, but friends and trainers at Damage Inc. gym know it's only a matter of time.  "He raw, but he's good.  You can see it.  He works so hard and has learned a ton, the organization that signs him will get a star." says Houston.

Waiting is not Didion's strong suite, but he knows that's what he has to do.  "I'll take these 8 hour work out days every day...man...but this waiting for a contract is gruelling...it's the hardest thing I've had to do." says Didion.
