 All right folks let get right down to business, Paddy O'Malleys Bar, Hilo HI. May 30th, 2015. Here is the line up for the undercard;
Riley Gracie Vs. Clint Hester
Mike Graves Vs. Phillip Cole
Tyrion Shanahan Vs. Felipe Senna
Mustafiq Rana Vs. Kashmire Gates
Lets take a quick look at these fights.
First fight on the undercard, starting off the night, Riley Gracie Vs. Clint Hester. Here we see a untested Clint Hester, making his debut against a 19 yr old black belt! That's right guys Riley Gracie is only 19 and he has already earned his black belt in BJJ.
Prediction: Gracie via submission early in round one.
Second fight has two fighters making their debuts. Mike Graves skill set has a little of everything. But, most would argue that his skills in wrestling and BJJ are his finest. While Phillip Cole is a strict wrestler.
Prediction: Graves via submission late in round two.
Fight three; Tyrion Shanahan, the boxing wrestler, makes his debut against another wrestling BJJ fighter in Felipe Senna. Senna has a record of 1-1.
Prediction: Senna via submission round two.
The final fight on the undercard is Mustafiq Rana Vs. Kashmire Gates. Both fighters are 1-0. Both fighters have brown belts in jiu-jitsu. Rana got his victory in round one while Gates got his in round two. This one could go either way.
Prediction: Rana via TKO ground and pound in round three.
The main card has some good fights as well. So why waste time here is the line up for main card.
Vrushak Madhura Vs. Cole Ohmsford
Mirko Filipovic Vs. Stipe Drvis
Twelve Knickerbocker Vs. Sal Thompson
Vincent Thomas Vs. Adalet Sadik
We start the main card off with Madhura Vs. Ohmsford. Madhura is a jiu-jitsu specialist with wrestling and boxing to back it up. Ohmsford is a wrestler with some skills in jiu-jitsu. Ohmsford needs to get the takedown and be in control.
Prediction: Madhura has his way with Ohmsford. TKO via strikes round two.
Mirko Filipovic Vs. Stipe Drvis is the next fight on the main card. Two undefeated fighters. Filipovic 2-0, Drvis 1-0. These two are very evenly matched. On paper they are equals on the ground. Filipovic has the edge in boxing and Drvis in Muay Thai. This is one that could end in fight of the night.
Prediction: Drvis via TKO in the clinch, round one.
The third fight on the main card is one where we see if focusing on one aspect of the game triumphs spreading your training out. Twelve Knickerbocker has spent his time focusing on just boxing and wrestling. While, Thompson has dabbled in a little of everything. I think Knickerbocker's wrestling will make sure it stays standing where he seems to have the advantage. Sal might be thinking about using the clinch game.
Prediction: Knickerbocker via KO round one.
Final fight before the co-main event. A jiu-jitsu specialist Vs. an excellent boxer, well on paper anyway. Let's see if it pans out that way. If the fight goes to the ground than Vincent Thomas will most likely wrap up a submission victory. But, If it stays standing, which I think it will, than Adalet Sadik could very well score a knockout.
Prediction Sadik via KO round one.
The Co-main event of the night is...
Akito Toyotoku Vs. Emilio McCann
Akito "Devil" Toyotoku is 4-4. He has some training in boxing and wrestling. And, even more in Muay Thai and jiu-jitsu. Only one of his fights have gone the distance. Finish or be finished. Scoring 1 KO and 2 sub victories, "Devil" will be looking to add another victory and finish to his record.
Emilio "The Badger" McCann undefeated in 2 fights. McCann has spent most of his training in wrestling developing and very strong base. Both of his wins came by a dominating display of ground and pound. Can "The Badger" ground and pound his way to another "W"
Prediction: Toyotoku via submission round three.
And now the main event...
Ima "Rape" You Vs. Tyler Wells
Ima "Rape" You, 5-2. You has a brown belt in jiu-jitsu, 4 out of 5 of his wins were by submission. You needs to get this fight to the ground. It's clear what Ima You's gameplan should be; get the fight to the mat, lock up a submission.
Tyler Wells is a boxer who has yet to see victory in his professional career. Wells will need to keep this one standing if he is to stand a chance out there. I think he will have his hands full trying to stop You's takedowns.
Prediction: You via submission early in round one.
