Interview of Island fighter King Wong

Fighter profile of King Wong by Dale Saw

Hello ladies and gentlemen, The MMA Grand Magazine is proud to present it's millionth copy. That's rights, our fans have been loyal and true.

In this edition the MMA Grand's best reporter, Jason Mota, will be going out the this seasons Island.

Now there are a lot of great fighters on the Island this season like the Japanese fighter "Masamune" Sephiroth Jenova, a heavyweight fighter fighting under Solitude.

He will he going up against Paulo "Piratito" Lazaro another great heavyweight. Then there is Fernardu Palmier fighting for the Leftovers, like Jenova he is also 5-0.

Now these guys are great but we noticed over in a little KT org on The Island there is a great set of KT fighters.

And at the top of their list is where you will find our fighter for this editions MotaVation Views, Where Jason Mota sits down and gets all the goods on some of the best fighters in the world. So here is Jason's sit down with Island KT fighter King Wong.

Mota: Heya King Wong. How are you today?

Wong: I come. We talk fight.

Mota: So King tell me, what got you into fighting? What made you start training and become the man I see today?

Wong: I fight. Long time I fight. Always fight.

Then Wong just kinda sat back with a big smile on his face. I think he though he answered my question well. But had no clue what he was talking about.

Mota: Ok so um.

I was a little confused. So I thought I would just ask the question again.
Mota: Yeah. But, what got you into it in the first place?

I was hoping that this would get a better response. But at this he started speaking to me what sounded like jibberish in which I could make out the word fight a few times but that was about it.
Seeing that this wasn't going to get far I knew I was going to need to change the way I approached this if I wanted to get Wong talking.

So I decided to ask him if we could go to his gym and maybe we could spar a few rounds, maybe I can get him to answer questions while I am sparring I thought.
Not a good idea it turns out.

I couldn't hear a thing in the head gear and Wong knocked me down on every punch. So that idea went out the window. After sparring we decided to get lunch, Wong showed me this nice little Asian place. The food really was quite good. And During lunch I decided to try to ask Wong a few more questions.

Mota: So what made you come to the Island to fight? Why make the move from Fiji?

Wong: I fight Fiji. Come fight Island. I fight good. Family say go fight Island. So I come. Fight.
I was shocked to actually get an answer. I couldn't let this stop.

Mota: You're family told you that you should come fight on the Island?
Wong: Yes.

Mota: Do you have plans to continue fighting after the Island season is over?
Wong: I fight.

Mota: Then I'll take that as a Yes. So have you always fought in the stand up game? Have you ever tried a grappling contest? Any BJJ training?

Wong: I hit. Sometimes I grab I hit. But I don't fight ground.

Mota: So then Pride KT was the obvious choice for you.

Wong: What is this Obvo.. Obby.. Ov..
We sat there for a few more minutes while I tried to explain what obvious was, Which didn't work. Then we headed back to the gym. I tried a few more times to get Wong to answer more questions but the communications barrier was too thick.

I watched as Wong sparred and threw guys around in a clinch. I watched as he hit the heavy bag. But he was just too bust training after that point to be worrying about the questions some reporter has. He is a training machine.

"Good Luck in your next fight Mr. Wong" I shouted at him as I left the gym. In the end I didn't get that much accomplished but I had a good day with King Wong. I'm Jason Mota and this was MotaVation Views.
