Legacy! 2 Event Preview

Event Preview: LEGACY! 2
Legacy!
2015-07-10, Montreal, The Expo
Author:Louie DePalma

Ladies and Gentlemen, please allow me to welcome you back to another action packed event being held by the recently opened company Legacy!   We come to you live from The Expo in Montreal where a rabid 6,000 fight fans are expected to be in attendance.

Legacy! enjoyed an extremely successful inaugural event on Canada Day Live from the Belle Center and even though they experienced some financial hardships from that event they fully expected it and was well worth the fake mounds of money they bled in order to stage such a memorable first event!

Legacy! 1 was taken in by just under 20,000 fans and set the bar very high for those to follow earning a 349.35 event rating and proppelling the company into the top 25 on the Tycoon ranking.

This week we look to springboard off of that success and begin establishing challengers for future title oportunities.  This weeks shows showcases a Main Event involving a pair of fighters fresh off competing in Troids Next Top Fighter tournament in a rematch that saw the 2 meet in round 8.

Our Co Main is shit as we do not have it booked as of yet but when we do I expect it to be monsterous.  With all that being said lets get right to the action.  In our Main Event of Legacy! 2 we have a pair of young and hungry Bantamweights lookingto lock horns and our Co-Main Event features a pair of up and coming superstars looking to cement their "Legacy!" in this epic battle.  Here is a quick run down of what we have in store for you this evening.

Main Event - 135 lbs Doyle vs Rivia

Jimmy Doyle comes into this one enjoying an unbeaten streak of 15 fights, to follow up the 2 losses he sustained in his first 2 professional fights.  The only blemish on his record during that amazing run was a 3 round Majority Draw against Sebastion Scrooge who is currently out of work and playing his ukelele at the local bus stop.

Across the cage from Doyle stands Geralt of Rivia, a very grissled looking  veteran even if his birth certificate tells us otherwise, being a mere 22 years young on paper this guy appears to truly be old enough to be his own grandfather!!

Much like Doyle, Rivia is riding a wave of victories having not lost in his past 8 appearances, with the last loss coming against, yes you guessed it, his dance partner Doyle.  That fight saw Rivia run Doyle over like a freight train for 2 rounds only to see Doyle step back into the center of the cage to start round three knowing he needed a finish, and going for broke right off the referees words "fight".

Doyle took Rivia down and threw up the hail mary arm triangle for the victory after a handful of unsuccessful attempts just prior.  Following the fight Rivia seemed well, how do you say it...maybe slightly annoyed?  Coming into this one we know he is looking for revenge and will stop at nothing to make sure that he does not leave an opening this time and finishes the kill he started in their first dance recital.

Doyle holds a very large advantage in the BJJ arena over Rivia having won 6 of his fights by way of Submission however that does not mean he is lacking in other areas as he has shown success both when standing at range and also while in the clinch as his domination over Conor McCracken has shown.

Meanwhile what can we say about Rivia other then the posibility that the arm triangle loss to Doyle unleashed the demons within as he has since gone a roll enjoyed by very few stringing together 8 consecutive finishes by way of either KO or TKO.  Coming into this one Doyle is likely telling himself "what ever you do, do not get hit or its lights out!"  Rivia appears to have made the adjustments needed to avenge his previous loss and on this night we believe he will do just that, with a 2nd round KO of Doyle sending him back to the drawing board and looking for answers...

Co-Main Event - 265 lbs Romo vs Hunter

Tonights Co Main Event sees a pair of veteran fighters willingto stand toe to toe and duke it out for bragging rights between their managers.  Both Romo's manager and Hunter's manager have been quick to step up and help save the bacon of the always productive owner/operator of Legacy! Louie DePalma and in this one the same applies as always.  This potential fight was put together last minute however we expect this one to blow the roof off the joint.  Romo comes into this one hungry to right the ship as he has been the recipient of 2 consecutive losses including a KO loss to known cheapskate Beggar So managed fighter Ethelbart Takahashi in Legacy!'s first ever event.

Autumn Hunter on the other hand makes his first return to the cage since a unanimous decision victory back at Syn 342 in February and he is looking to light this shit up!  When reached for comment at the fight signing former Hollywood film extra best known for his supporting role in Flatliners Joe River was quoted as stating "I know recently Hunter has been less then special, I know he is only involved in KO's when it is his chin that gives out however on this night, that damn Louie better toss him the bonus he has owed him from Syn 268!!

At press time we didnt have the heart to remind Joe it was his guy who was knocked the eff out!!.  Anyways I digress, back to the fight at hand and Hunter preferring to take the cautious approach when reflecting on his past 4 victories that went to the judges score cards.

Romo comes in having to deal with a slight reach disadvantage however his 31 career KO victories show that with or without a reach advantage he has the power to get to most chins.  On the other side of the coin, it has been 2 months shy of a full calendar year since his last KO victory, preferring to rely on his overall skills and working the judges for the points needed to win on the score cards.

The thing that would worry most if in Romo's corner is the shaky chin he has shown recently, knowing he will need to protect it at all times even against an opponent with Hunters stylistic gameplan, as one strike landing flush could end the evening quickly.  Our thinking here is Romo will come out like a house on fire looking to over whelm Hunter and beat him at his own game, eventually wearing him down and taking the W by way of T(KO) Strikes late in round 3.

170 lbs Sung vs Kramer

Former Dictator and self proclaimed Maximegalomaniac Kim II sung will be looking to conquer yet another “imperialist” to add to his streak of 4 wins. The certified badass with a thousand yard stare Erik Kramer has other plans. Kramer be seeking to make his name in Legacy! by sending Kim II packing home to Korea and adding a third 1st round knock out to his own streak.

It’s been said that Erik Kramer might have had a 7-1 record with a win streak of 5 but, encountered a classic case of right place, wrong time as a young fighter. As the story goes, he agreed to his second professional fight and mistakenly appeared at the right venue on the wrong day. He was thrown into a superheavyweight fight with a fighter who held a 50 pound weight advantage.

It’s unclear exactly how this happened but, I was able to speak with Erik Kramer in person. When I asked about the loss he extinguished his newly lit cigarette before pulling out another and lighting it. He took a long drag and shifted his gaze upon the setting sun. Upon exhaling the drag he muttered something about how knees can’t fly. He became unresponsive and that’s how he was left, raising more questions than had been answered.  The research for Kim II Sung was equally dissatisfying.

All attempts to contact Kim II were routed through numerous Korean officials who made many claims to Sung’s mythical prowess. It’s been said that while he was only 8 years old Kim II Sung was accepted into the prestigious Kim II Sung university and during a brief tutelage of 3 years he wrote over 1,500 books and produced 6 full operas.

All of which have since been declared by Korea to be “better than anything in the history of anything” Another official claimed that Sung played golf very briefly and has claimed to have had a 38 under round that included 11 hole-in-ones. When skeptics doubted the validity of these claims, 17 of Sung’s body guards repeated the same story verbatim and claimed to have seen every single stroke.

Erik Kramer will likely come into this fight guns blazing as he looks to do some damage early on. His last two fights have been knockouts in under a minute and he goes into this fight knowing he has a strong advantage in the vertical. Sung will be looking to counter Kramer with a sneaky takedown and display the black belt he’s so proud of.

He’s showed that he can stand toe to toe with quality strikers and do some excellent damage in the past and might do so with Kramer for a short time but, don’t let his bravery fool you. Sung has made it clear in his past two matches that he is eager and capable of getting the quick submission win, both of which were won around the 3:30 mark in the 2nd and 1st rounds.

185 lbs Behnder vs McGuiness

Marcus Behnder Jr. son of the great Marcus Behnder has huge shoes to fill and will seek to begin building a legacy to rival his own fathers. He’s been training his whole life and has been managed by the prosperous Louie DePalma since his debut. The same Louie DePalma who managed Marcus Sr. throughout his mma debut and saw him rise to the number 2 spot in his weight division as well as achieve the rare accomplishment of winning 10 fights in a row and a showcase in the LoL tournament finals.

James McGuiness however, has recently switched his focus from lifting weights to lifting pitchers of beer. Sully has been spreading the word about the pub he opened with the proceeds from his fight contracts that allows fighters to participate in some friendly pre fight banter. After he accepted the fight against Behnder, James seemed eager to be shifting gears back to mma and stated that it was “Nice of the Legacy boys to offer me a fight to stay fit.”

Pouring himself a glass of his own homebrew and swigging a drink he added “Not only that but, they paid for my flight to visit beautiful Montreal! Hopefully I get a chance to check out some scenery before whooping some ass!” McGuiness seemed rather carefree in the face of a difficult match against an up and comer and asked to have this message passed along to his opponent “Marcus Behnder Jr, I don’t know you but, I got flown in on a private jet and paid to smash your head in an that’s an offer I can’t refuse. What ya gunna do about it?’  Both fighters have proven that they are comfortable in any position and well rounded as well.

Behnder Jr. holds the advantage on the ground with World class BJJ and remarkable wrestling. He’s proven that he doesn’t mind taking hits and can dish out plenty of damage as well. That doesn’t both James McGuinness, who likes to use his World class boxing to throw high volumes of punches intended to knock out his opponent.

Behnder will likely stand toe to toe with McGuinness and employ multiple leg and body kicks. These kicks will be aimed at slowing and wearing down the lightning quick speed and good stamina of James McGuiness.

Don’t be surprised if Behnder is able to land some of those impressive high kicks we’ve witnessed in the past. Once he gets McGuinness where we wants him Behnder might work a little ground and pound before looking for a submission.

McGuinness with most likely attempt to keep Behnder at a distance with jabs, the occasional combo, as well as a few kicks of his own. McGuinness will be looking to cause some damage with some of the powerful headshots he’s famous for and although doesn’t have the best ground stats he’s proven that he can be an extremely effective defensive grappler and is rather smart as well. Set your spoiler alerts and expect an entertaining match-up between these two fighters.

185 lbs Terror  vs Brown

Expect to see some excellent striking on display as two aggressive and proven fighters look to make their mark in LEGACY! Coming off a win in his last fight, Dark Terror will be looking to finish this one quickly with another KO. All of his wins have come by way of knockout in the second round and Terror has only made it to the 3rd round once in his career  Split Brown has other ideas.

He’ll be looking to chip away at his Terror’s stamina with lightning fast kicks to the body and legs as well as a few upside the head. Both fighters have good chins but Dark Terror has never been rocked. This will cause a change from Split Brown’s previous strategies and a shift of focus to strikes aimed at Terror’s body and legs. He will also look to make good use of the clinch and try to cause substantial damage there as well.

Brown is a patient fighter and all but one of his wins have been in the third round by knockout. Split Brown comes into this fight off of a loss and holds a 7-5 record. He has a slight edge in fight experience compared to Dark Terror’s record of 6-4, who is coming into this match off of a win.  Although Split Brown has an extra two fights under his belt Dark terror has had a slightly tougher fight schedule.

Dark Terror’s first six opponents were undefeated when he accepted the fight offers and his opponents posted a combined pre fight record of 45-14 compared to Brown’s 40-28. Both fighters have very similar records but, Terror’s opponents posted an additional 5 wins over Brown’s opponents as well as having half as many losses.

Anything could happen in this match up as both of these fighters are seasoned strikers with plenty of experience on the ground. Dark Terror will try to end this match early and Split Brown will stay at a distance and attempt to control the pace of the fight. Both fighters will try to keep the fight standing and should they end up on the ground, there will be plenty of ground and pounding from both fighters.

Neither of these fighters will likely spend much time on the canvas and that is for completely separate reasons. Split Brown will be hesitant to grapple with Terror who holds the wrestling advantage while Dark Terror has a bit of a reputation to uphold and would prefer to win this fight on his feet.
