GAMMA#483 Stefans v Lafontier

Review By Rabid Alien (102643)

On 23 May, 2015, the original GAMMA (Global Association of MMA) Organization, managed by the always productive Mentor Corleone (3503), presented the GAMMA#483 Stefans v Lafontier event, for the viewing pleasure of screaming MMA fans around the globe. This event, located at the LA Memorial Colossuseum in Los Angeles, is proudly sponsored by GREEN!160 based in Las Vegas.

This action-packed event had 10 fights resulting in 5 knockouts and 5 decisions. It also hosted one Title fight at 205 pounds between Charles LaFontier and Ted Stefans for the Light Heavyweight Championship. Rabid Alien here to walk you through the dismembered bodies, and for those of you with the taste for it, all the cracked ribs and twisted knees can be found at http://www.mmatycoon.com/orgeventpublic.php?EvID=829381

170 lbs fight beween Oberyn "The Model" Martell (156085) and "Knuckles" Aurelius Schultes (153269)

What can I say? Schultes needs to improve his striking, specially on the ground. He was swinging like a fan and I have a head cold from the breeze...62 strikes thrown and only 10 landed....my sister is more lethal than that. Martell could sharpen up also....throwing 91 strikes and landing 35 compared to the 10 landed by Schultes and I DONT have this a close fight at all. But the judges I guess were hot in this packed arena and appreciated the breeze provided by Schultes and so...

Results: All 3 judges see the fight the same at 28:29 in favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Oberyn Martell!

155 lbs fight between Augustus "The Last Prince" Belvedere IV (123199) and Crack "Saw" Hack (204584)

Two fighters evenly matched except Belvedere has better boxing skills, and that must of prompted the Hack Team to take the fight to the ground and Hack used a LOT of energy in 31 takedown attempts and actually got 6 of them. And Hack did pretty well there, landing 7 strikes and attempting 4 submissions. But he was unable to seal the deal and Belvedere manages to rock him with 30 seconds left in the fight and STEAL the deal with can u believe it? ONE second left in the fight! Belvedere go buy a lottery ticket man...

Results: After 4:59 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Augustus Belvedere IV!

145 lbs fight between Yuri Boyka (34136) and Sher Shah "the molotov" Suri (182892)

Both men having weakness in BJJ and pretty closely matched on thier feet I would of given the experience edge to Boyka with his 62 fights compared to Suri's 27 fights. But the youth/stamina/speed edge would go to 31 year old Suri compared to the 41 year old Boyka. So what happened? Well it was a clinch war. These teo looked like long lost lovers on viagara. They went into the clinch and stayed in the clinch. I havent seen some much masculine hugging since last years gay pride parade in San Fransico. Both men landed about the same in head shots and Suri was rocked late in the 3rd round. But it was the experienced Boyka who wisely slowed Suri down with 20 body strikes and simply outstruck him in the standing as well to take this fight in a commanding manner.

Results: All 3 judges see the fight the same at 30:27 in favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Yuri Boyka!

265+ lbs fight between Zeus "God King" Leonidas (219424) and Brian "Bad" Mason (206606)

Leonidas with an edge in the standing and the BJJ should of been able to end this fight before the final bell. The fact that he didnt says something I think about Mason's heart and determination. So what happened? Well as we could expect Mason wanted takedowns and made 15 attempts. But he wasted alot of energy and got only 2, but at least when he was on the ground he DID something and landed 6 strikes as well as snuck in a submission attempt. But maybe all that energy wasted slowed him down and it was Leonides in the standing and clinch that outstruck Mason 3 to 1. Surprisingly we saw Leonides also with 2 takedowns and one of them was the always fun and seldom seen suplex. I think the judges job was easy on this fight...

Results: All 3 judges see the fight the same at 30:27 in favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Zeus Leonidas!

170 lbs fight between "Ill" Illias Illiadis (192937) and "The Force of Nature" Sami Sykloni (151785)

Neither man known for the knockout power, but Illiadis must of looked at Sykloni's record of 12 losses by knockout and decided if 12 others can do it, so can I, and he went out there head hunting. Sykloni was cut by a head kick at the 1 minute mark and rocked and then knocked the hell out by a perfect straight right hand from Illiadis and faceplants on the mat. That was brutal and what I call, "No F#cking around".

Results: After 1:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Illias Illiadis!

205 lbs fight between Yorick "The Last Man" Brown (178737) and Lars "Blitzkreig" Voller (183546)

In the BJJ arts these 2 fighters were evenly matched but the other areas it was in Browns favor. and it showed in the clinch where they were about evenly matched except Voller had the elbows to throw and cut Brown late in the 1st round. It was in the standing battle where Brown's punches pulled the victory by outlanding Voller 2 to 1.

Results: All 3 judges see the fight the same at 29:28 in favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Yorick Brown!

265+ lbs fight between Fat Gorrila (204973) and Iivana "Miltei" Jalo (191173)

Gorrila has heard the final bell only 2 times in his 24 fights and is blessed with KO power and cursed with a glass chin, but he has Jalo outclassed in every fight area except boxing where they are even. Jalo has a plastic chin and is in his debut fight with the GAMMA org. Ding Ding ! It starts out ugly and Jalo is cut by Gorrila's 1st punch. Two minutes later Gorrila knocks him down with a combination and is generally using Jalo as a punch/kick bag. Even in the clinch Gorrila was administering a beatdown and Jalo just couldn't get it together. In fact I think Jalo must have a lot of heart to of lasted until the 2nd minute of round 3 when Gorrila caught him bouncing off the cage and drops him with a right hook.

Results: After 1:17 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Fat Gorrila!

170 lbs fight between Diego "Nightmare" Sanchez (142862) and Kris Hong (204017)

No fireworks...but a bit of an arse whuppin for Hong who was outstruck 2 to 1 in a standup battle with over 100 strikes landed.

Results: The judges see the fight slightly different at 27:30/28:30/27:30 in favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Diego Sanchez! This fight was awarded the "Fight of the Night".

185 lbs fight between "King of the Seven Seas" Arthur Curry (92326) and Ava "Q" Noel (181965)

Noel is an elite boxer with 15 of his 19 wins coming by knockout and Curry is a previous GAMMA belt wearer with 35 of his 50 wins coming by knockout. Ding Ding ! Noel lands 1st and is mixing strikes nicely with emphasis on leg kicks. Curry seems to be looking for the hole and defending and countering. Late in the 2nd round Noel is rocked by a Curry jab and shortly after that, Curry lands an uppercut and Noel falls backwards. Its over quickly.

Results: After 3:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Arthur Curry!

205 lbs TITLE fight between the Challenger, Charles LaFontier (173319) and the Champion, Ted Stefans (182837)

These 2 have met before and LaFontier ate a TKO (Knee & Punches) from Stefans last December. So taking his belt from him tasted a LOT better I bet. So how did LaFontier do it? Well it sure as hell wasn't love at 1st sight but this was a war fought from the hug. Stefans landed first strike and LaFontier clinched right up tight for damn near the entire fight. They went at it hard and nasty with plenty of knees from Stefans and lots of elbows from LaFontier, but most impressive was LaFontier who landed 84 punches in the clinch and outstruck the Champ an incredible 94 to 11 !!! Apparently LaFontier likes 3 round fights because when the bell dinged for the 4th round he came out and clobbered Stefans with an overhand right and knocked him right the hell OUT. Now thats what I call a serious ass kicking and you dont see that kinda 1-sided performance in a Championship bout very often.

Results: After 0:05 of round 4, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Charles LaFontier! Charles LaFontier is the new light heavyweight champion! And Im not surprised to announce that LaFontier was awarded the "KO of the Night".

Well after a slam-dance of a fight like that to wrap up the night Im all pumped and can't even think about going home to sleep. Its PARTY TIME!!!

GOODBYE !!!
