EFC: BAD MOON
REVIEW

Last night, July 18 2015, we witnessed a sold out crowd in the New York Liberty Dome for EFC: Bad Moon. It was a great night of extreme MMA as we witnessed fighters finish off each other in the event card. We witnessed 9 finishes in one night! Who would expect that? Some highlights include light heavyweight champ Hughtavious Mingo successfully defending his belt for the second time, Magnus Cross beating Dick Wad, and Better Dead with an exemplary flying knee, knocking out the undefeated Kuwalski.

DETAILS

Venue: Liberty Dome
Attendance: 5250 (SOLD OUT)
Event Rating: 286.89
Finishes: 9/10 (8 first round TKOs)
Merch Partner: Big Bear Nutrition 160Q

PRELIMINARY MATCHES
(Records are updated)

Lightweight bout

Riley "Hipster" Molovgomedov (0-2-0) vs Ray Malenko (8-1-0)

Pre-fight prediction: Malenko by 1st round submission

Molovgomedov was able to win the clinch but Malenko scored a takedown and finished him right after.

Result: Malenko by 1st round submission (Arm Triangle)

Light Heavyweight bout

Duane "Brainsmasher" Perry (5-2-0) vs Marcus Gustav (3-3-1)

Pre-fight prediction: Brainsmasher by 1st round TKO

Brainsmasher clearly the dominant fighter in this one as he outclassed Gustav with a series of strikes ending it quickly.

Result: Brainsmasher by 1st round KO (Punch)

Heavyweight bout

Tang Bang (5-4-0) vs Jan "Jay-Jay" Jedrzejczyk (3-1-0)

Jedrzejczyk was the more efficent striker which lead to an uppercut that led to the TKO

Pre-fight prediction: Bang by 2nd round TKO

Result: Jedrzejczyk by 1st round TKO (Strikes)

Welterweight bout

Oleg Bartowski (10-5-0) vs Alberto Contador (8-3-0)

Pre-fight prediction: Contador by 2nd round TKO

It was a close call but Contador landed more strikes and defended 12/14 takedowns and did well defending in the ground. That must've cost Bartowski some points.

Result: Contador by Decision (Unanimous)

Middleweight bout

Phil Taylor (3-1-0) vs Dean "The Spider" Kane (5-0-0)

Pre-fight prediction: Taylor by 1st round TKO

When Kane finally got the takedown, he persistently tried to submit Taylor and got the win with an armbar.
Kane wins the battle of the undefeated and moves to a 5-0-0 record and moved up the middleweight ranking. He's currently 4-0 in EFC.

Result: Kane by 1st round Submission (Armbar)

MAIN CARD
(Records are updated)

Bantamweight bout

Ville "Toto" Ahokas (6-4-0) vs "The Crown Prince" Arthas Menethil (8-2-0)

Pre-fight prediction: Ahokas by 2nd round TKO

When things seemed not to work in the standup game, Menethil moved to the clinch and sores a takedown. He takes a win with a great maneuver, the armbar.
Menethil moves back up the Bantamweight division as he looks to gain a rematch against the champ Jaqquard. He's currently 5-1 in EFC.

Result: Menethil by 1st round Submission (Armbar)

Heavyweight bout

Ahti Kaleva (8-3-1) vs Garcia Vega (11-7-0)

Pre-fight Prediction: Kaleva by 1st round TKO

Kaleva proved why he's TWGC Champion by locking in a Kimura so quickly against Vega. When Kaleva got the takedown, it was basically over.

Result: Kaleva by 1st round Submission (Kimura)

Welterweight Bout

Better "Off" Dead (13-8-0) vs Aleksander "AK" Kawulski (6-1-0)

Pre-fight Prediction: Kawulski by decision

Better Dead gives Kawulski his first stain in his record as he escaped Kawulski's takedown, scored
some in the clinch and delivered an unexpected flying knee to the temple sending Kawulski to the mat.

Let's see if Dead plans to re-sign in EFC for another run at Bullard.

Result: Dead by 1st round TKO (Flying Knee)

Heavyweight bout

Magnus "Bear" Cross (16-10-0) vs Dick Wad (12-6-0)

Prediction: Cross by 1st round TKO

As expected, Wad wasn't himself as he basically didn't try to do anything in the fight. He's got some
personal issues and Magnus took advantage of that, knocking him out cold.

We see Cross getting close to a title match as he moves to the no. 2 contender among heavyweights.

Result: Cross by 1st round KO (Punch)

MAIN EVENT

Hughtavious Mingo (14-3-0)    vs   Jimmie Craig (15-7-0)

It was a very exciting match as both fighters brawled with their full strengths. It ended in the 2nd round but both fighters seemed so exhausted in that one.

In the first round, both fighters traded blow by blow but Mingo got the early knockdown against Craig. Craig was wobbly but he was able to reverse the situation by scoring a knockdown with a combo himself. Both fighters weren't able to capitalize on those situations but Mingo's got a cut after getting hit. When they have regained senses, they again fought like brawlers. Tough fighters indeed!

In the second round, Mingo managed to score another knockdown against Craig but refuses to go to the ground. He delivers more blows and the champion's strikes were just too much for Craig. Craig's sportsmanship was evident as he breathlessly thanked his fans despite his loss to the champ Mingo.

Mingo now moves up to no. 22 among light heavyweights in world rankings. He stands firm in his throne waiting for the next contender. It is possible that either Skunk Asap or Von Sprocket will be facing Mingo soon, or there will be a rematch between Mingo and Craig.

Will Mingo's feat be stopped at 10-1 or will he continue to dominate and reach the top 10? Stay tuned.

Result: Mingo by 2nd round KO (Punches)
