GAMMA#485 Lan v Steigelmann Review

Global Association of MMA, Fight Organization, London
Company profile by Mentor Guru Corleone

The ageless original GAMMA organization has once again produced an incredible event with top-notch fighters for your viewing pleasure. However you apparently could not make it so now you must read about in this review. Such are the complications of life, and hopefully I can visualize for you what those who saw it were seeing. If not, all the belly-kicking details can be found at http://www.mmatycoon.com/orgeventpublic.php?EvID=830373. This event had 10 bouts with 6 knockouts, and 4 decisions, 1 which was a split decision. This event was produced by the "Master of Globalized MMA, Mentor Corleone (3503) and sponsored by GREEN!160 (3879) a Nutritional company based in Las Vegas.

205 lbs fight between Alfonso Lopez (163648) and Paul "PJ" Jones (104531)

Lopez is a wrestler with 15 of his 18 wins coming by knockout. Jones is an elite boxer/wrestler with a Red Belt in BJJ and an extreme weakness in Muay Thai. Ding Ding ! Well it became interesting when it became apparent that Jones the elite wrestler was after a takedown and couldn't get it. Lopez with lesser wrestling ability was stuffing takedown attempts and landing strikes. But Jones isn't being 1-dimensional and lands a strike that cuts Lopez, 1 1/2 minutes into the fight. Immediately followed by his getting the 1st of 2 takedowns of the fight. (with 26 attempts) They roll around like puppies for a while reversing each other and putting on a great show. Round 2, they come out throwing strikes, and Jones is cut by a kick from Lopez. Jones is still busy trying for a takedown and finally gets the 2nd and last one, but Lopez immediately stands up. Jones keeps trying and Lopez keeps stuffing them and scoring strikes. Round 3, Jones actually landing a few strikes but still after the takedown. Jones tries for a double leg takedown and Lopez replies with an uppercut that rocks Jones and when Jones looks at the clock to see how much time he needs to survive...he makes the point moot as Lopez clobbers him with a right hand and then pounces on him when he goes down and starts dropping elbows and punches until the referee steps in.

Results: After 3:29 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Alfonso Lopez!

170 lbs fight between "Dai tuong" Phan Tran Le (162219) and Stanly Williams (174422)

Williams is a ground fighter and Le is a Muay Thai fighter with wrestling ability. As expected Williams was after the takedowns, but got only 1 out of 16 attempts and didnt do SQUAT with them. Le was after clinches and got 3 out of 10 attempts and did barely squat with them. So they both seemed like failures in their more obvious fight plans...HOWEVER, Le was flat whoopin that butt in the standing war and landed 41 strikes to Williams 20 landed which made the decision pretty easy on the judges.

Results: All 3 judges see the fight the same at 30:27 in favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Phan Tran Le!

145 lbs fight between Bradley "Project X" Henson (202150) Danny White (229844)

White is a ground fighter and Henson is a boxer with a black belt in BJJ. So it comes as no surprise that White was after the takedowns and Henson was throwing punches. But White didn't accomplish much with the 3 (out of 5 attempts) takedowns that he got. He DID land well with the few strikes he threw and scored 5 strikes out of 7 thrown. But at the same time Henson was working for submissions (4 attempts) so it came out about even in the ground war. And it was White with the clinches, with 3 out of 7 attempts being successful but again...rather ineffective when he got them. The real story was in the standing war where Henson scored 14 strikes to White's 11 and thats a pretty damn close fight.

Results: Somebody on drugs...the 2 straight judges see the fight the same at 29:28 and the judge on drugs sees the fight 29:30 in favor of your winner, by split decision... Bradley Henson!

185 lbs fight between Hector "Hammerhead" Williams (151289) "The Soul Collector" Diego Aragon (210560)

Williams is an elite wrestler and Aragon is a well rounded fighter with a weakness in BJJ. But in this fight Aragon decided to try to out-wrestle Williams and he damn sure did. It took 16 tries to get 5 takedowns but he went to work when he got-em. He tried a submission but his focus was on GnP and the ring-card girls. Why do I say that? Because when u throw 15 strikes at someone u have pinned beneath you and land only 4 strikes...u MUST be looking at SOMETHING...and he wasn't looking at ME. Anyway... possibly due to having so many takedowns stuffed and his "fan operation" on the ground he must of been tired and that allowed Williams to kinda punk him out in the standing battle with 36 strikes landed to Aragon's 10 strikes landed.

Results: The 3 judges see the fight slightly different at 28:29/27:30/27:30 in favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Hector Williams!

185 lbs fight between LeBron James (203986) and Ben Zanotto (174152)

Zanotto is an elite wrestler and James is a Muay Thai fighter. And it looks like James has REALLY good takedown defense or Zanotto REALLY needs to work on takedowns because he had 28 of his 31 attempts get stuffed. Spending so much time and energy on failure MIGHT be acceptable if the few successes you get are backed up by something like a landed strike or a submission...but all that time and energy amounted to a big ZERO. Meanwhile James was awesome to stuff so many takedown attempts but being so busy with that prevented him from having an impressive performance landing strikes and the fight was actually damn close to even on strikes landed...in fact I would say if Zanotto would leave the takedowns at home and simply throw more punches he would of won that fight.

Results: All 3 judges see a close fight at 29:28 in favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... LeBron James!

205 lbs fight between Marko Torturo (54639) and "Riiviö" Pyry Perkele (178394)

Torturo is a well rounded fighter with a weakness in BJJ and Perkele is an elite Muay Thai fighter also with a weakness in BJJ.

Perkele did slightly better than Torturo in the standing but got a serious spanking in the clinch. Perkele was being outstruck in the clinch 3 to 1 when Torturo caught him with a short right and rocked his world. Torturo followed that with another right hand that dropped Perkele and then mounted for the kill and it was quickly over.

Results: After 2:28 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Marko Torturo!

265+ lbs fight between Julien "The French Psychopath" Touret (175093) and Marcus Fenix (186326)

Fenix is a well-rounded fighter with a strength in BJJ and Touret is a standup fighter. Round 1, Fenix quickly gets a takedown and is working submissions, but Touret is defending well. Round 2, both men come out striking and Fenix with the clinch where Touret lands an elbow and cuts Fenix. Then Touret just beats the shit out of Fenix in the clinch that Fenix wanted and landed and impressive 75% of his strikes and rocks Fenix and then knocks him right the hell out with a brutal knee! A SWEET knockout with no frills...just power.

Results: After 4:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Knee). Julien Touret!

265+ lbs fight between Michael Proctor (187233) and "The WarWagon" Jt Colossus (1688)

Both men are elite boxers, with a weakness in BJJ so a standup war is likely. Ding Ding ! Colossus looking for a clinch and Proctor counters. Proctor quickly shows his power with a right hand that knocks Colossus down and then shortly after that lands another right hand that rocks Colossus. Colossus tries to clinch to smother the strikes and get his head together but Proctor counters that and puts that butt on the mat and is raining strikes until the referee steps in. Colossus gets the takedown but he has taken down the referee! Oh my !

Results: After 1:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Michael Proctor!

265+ lbs fight between Tamias Poochyena (135965) and Vladislav "Farmer Mysterio" Maslow (197361)

Poochyena is an elite fighter with a weakness in BJJ and Maslow is is an elite boxer and has a Black belt in BJJ. Ding Ding ! Poochyena comes out kicking and is targetting the legs and Maslow countering and targetting the body. Both men are punching and kicking and Maslow is throwing more, but Poochyena is much more accurate and slightly ahead in scoring when he comes in over the top with a devastating right hand! Maslow stumbles and Poochyena is on him like rabid pit bull! Maslow slumps to the ground under a storm of punches and this fight is over!

Results: After 2:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tamias Poochyena! This fight was awarded "Fight of the night".

265+ lbs TITLE fight between Gunnar Steigelmann (196145) and Lan "Aanallein" Mandragoran (169650)

Both men are elite standup fighters. The Champion, Lan Mandragoran has 26 knockouts to his credit and has been knocked out 11 times. The Challenger, Gunnar Steigelmann has 15 knockouts to his credit and has been knocked out 5 times. Round 1, Steigelmann lands first and Mandragoran replies with a right hand that cuts Steigelmann. Both men seem to be having trouble finding the range and are missing....or perhaps they are both just defending well? But suddenly Steigelmann finds the sweet spot with an uppercut and Mandragoran drops. Steigelmann on top of him, lands some punches and elbows and the refereee dives in to save Mandragoran. Its OVER !

Results: After 1:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Gunnar Steigelmann! Gunnar Steigelmann is the new super heavyweight champion! Steigelmann is awarded the "KO of the night".

Another wonderful night of MMA comes to an end. GOODBYE !!!
