Insanity 95
Plexico vs Alzate
PREVIEW

After a very successful Mad Cash Tournament Finale, with a sold out crowd of 14,000, we've got a big tournament in the books. After months of preparation and execution, we've finally concluded a tournament with an insane amount of prizes (courtesy of Insanity and its sponsors). Well done Insanity!

With that, we move on to our next event, Insanity 95: Plexico v Alzate on August 8 2015 in Madison Garden Area, New York. We expect a sold out crowd (20,000) as we look at a double title headline featuring the lightweight and heavyweight title matches. The fight card is composed mostly of lightweights trying to climb up to the title. We've got a great card in this one so let's get to business.

PRELIMINARY CARD

Lightweight bout
Roger Cantor (12-10-0) vs Virgil "The Violator" Dreesen (4-3-0)

Ground fighter Cantor meets standup fighter Dreesen. Their morales aren't at 100% specially Dreesen who's stuck in Tokyo as of 8-1-15

Prediction: Dreesen via 1st round TKO

Middleweight bout
Steve "Bells" Belliveau (13-7-0) vs Kimroy Hoo (7-4-0)

Both fighters are more standup oriented and can thrive in the clinch. It all depends on how they play each other.

Prediction: Belliveau via decision

Welterweight bout
Nick "The Buzz" Bentner (11-4-0) vs Ronaldo "The Submission" Souza (8-2-0)

It is a clash of ground fighters as Bentner faces the submission artist Souza (7/8 wins by submission)

Prediction: Souza via 1st round sub

Lightweight bout
Alfredo Barbosa (8-7-0) vs Tomas Marley (7-2-0)

Clinch and ground fighter Marley faces a superior standup fighter Barbosa. Let's see how Marley plays this one.

Prediction: Marley via 2nd round TKO

Lightweight bout
Wartooth" Harald Hildetand (8-8-0) vs Kang "Booze Tooth" Xi Jia (12-5-0)

Hildetand clearly the underdog in this one as he enters with inferior skills against Xi Jia.

Prediction: Xi Jia via decision

MAIN CARD

Lightweight bout
Logan Sackett (14-5-0) vs Norman Parke (12-5-0)

Both fighters are highly skilled in the ground but Sackett has the upper hand in the standup battle. Both fighters have a few KOs and decisions up their sleeves which justifies how they use their power and technique. Parke must find a way to take it to the ground or he's going to be outstriked by Sackett

Prediction: Sackett via decision

Lightweight bout
Darren Myles (17-9-0) vs Jingle "Jangle" Jingle (13-8-0)

Myles has got a high hype for someone of his skill level which proves how devastating his KO power is. He's KO'd his past 2 opponents with a single blow! Jingle on the other hand, the 2 time Insanity lightweight champ has never been knocked out and with his superior ground skills, he can outclass Myles and avoid his KO power in the standup and he might end up with a submission win and make his way back to his belt.

Prediction: Jingle via decision

Featherweight bout
Yuki Takano (10-6-0) vs Boyko Kersikov (6-2-0)

Two former champs Takano (Hostility) and Kersikov (BFC) and two highly skilled fighters go face to face as Takano faces Kersikov. No significant advantage from either fighters but Kersikov's got a slight MT and BJJ advantage. Both fighters proved to be of KO potential (Takano 7/10, Kersikov 6/6) and both fighters have the chin (losses: Takano 0 TKO, Kersikov 1 TKO). We'll witness a clash of good featherweights and the winner might go up the title ladder with a win in this one.

Prediction: Kersikov via 2nd round TKO

CO-MAIN EVENT

Lightweight Title Match

Maurício Aurelio (16-5-0) vs Antoni Hong (9-4-0)
   VS

For the co-main event, we have the Insanity Lightweight Championship! We've got 2 lightweights in the upper triangle of the fighter pack as Aurelio (ranked 47) faces the champ Hong (ranked 111).

Aurelio is currently the number one contender among Insanity lightweights and after not being able to grab the title in SFC, he took his talents to Insanity and is now on fire with a 3 fight win streak within the org. The champ on the other hand returns with his first title defense after failing to win the Mad Cash 155 tournament and exiting in round 2.

Now he's bound to face a very hyped fighter in Aurelio, who is a monster submission artist with 11 submissions up his sleeve. However, with Hong's superior skills, it will not be an easy submission for Aurelio. Aurelio will be in trouble if he does not find a way to take it to the ground as the champ is a dominant standup fighter compared to him. Let's see how this one goes.

Prediction: Hong via decision

Heavyweight Title Match

Flex Plexico (16-6-0) vs Niko Alzate (14-5-0)

   VS

For our other Co-main event, we look at the Insanity Heavyweight Championship as the champion Niko Alzate (ranked 20) take on the challenger Flex Plexico (ranked 94). This will be Alzate's second title defense after finally beating the champion Makarenko (who defeated him thrice way back in Insanity 18, 49, and 53) and successfully defending his belt against Roosevelt Coleman.

The underdog Plexico has gained his shot by winning his last 3 matches including 2 upsets against more skilled fighters. Plexico can TKO and be tactical at the same time with his 9 TKO 1 sub and 6 decision wins over his 16 victories. Alzate on the other hand is a monster all-around with his 6 TKO 5 sub 3 decision record. Only the former champ Makarenko had TKO'd Alzate so let's see if Plexico's KO power is comparable to that.

Skillwise, the champ's got a slight advantage overall and I can see the champ will try take Plexico down because of his wrestling advantage. Besides, the champ is a known aggressor. This will be a good match so stay tuned.

Prediction: Alzate via 3rd round sub

See you there!
