Event Preview: UPF 24: Clegane Vs. Morais
Ultimate Pit Fighting (300K+ ID)
2015-11-07, Hilo, Hayashi's Lounge - Hilo
Author:Dale Saw

Jay: Ray and Jay's Excellent MMA Adventures has returned. I'm Jay, here as always with my father Ray. And, we and gonna give you the scoop on this weekends card, UPF 24: Clegane Vs. Morais. Before we get into it, I'd like to say that it is the final week of the contest, and as a finale the grand prize has been raised to $100k for the winner and $20k to the runner up. That seems like an easy $100k to me. Too bad they won't let me play. I know I could beat you pops. (Laughs)

Ray: Yeah right, in your dreams. Hey everybody this is Ray, I am the intelligent half of this onstage duo. And, I'm about to give you ALL 10 winners for this Saturdays event at Hayashi's Lounge in Hilo. You'll be able to take this information over to the UPF Sports Book, where they offer great odds, and make a small fortune. Alright so let's get started, you wanna start it off? Or shall I?

Jay: I got this. Hey, you may be the intelligent one, but I'm the good looking one. And, the witty one, and of course the strong one, but that because you're an old man. Haha. But, now down to business, a heavyweight bout starts off the undercard as Robert "Ur Sons Father" Inurgurl and Owen "The Quaterback" Leidner take to the octagon. With a nickname of "Ur Sons Father" I would like anything but to pick this guy. But, after watching "The Quarterback" fight in the UPF, four fights in which he hasn't seen a win, I just don't think I can go with Owen in this one. I see Robert taking this one to the mat and scoring a ground and pound victory. Inurgurl by TKO in round 2.

Ray: Boy this is a tough fight to call. Inurgurl actually looks pretty good in this fight. But, I just hate his name. And I love underdogs anyway. So Leidner by sub in round 3.

Predictions

Jay: Inurgurl by TKO at 2:36 of round 2.

Ray: Leidner by Submission at 3:54 of round 3.

Ray: Coming up next we have a super-heavyweight match up between Bazooka Joe and Bradley "The Architect" Work. This looks like a Boxing vs Muay Thai match up. If Work could manage to take this fight to the ground he may be able pull off a submission. But, I seriously doubt he is going to be able to get Bazooka to the mat. I expect Joe to take it into the clinch and use his superior muay thai and wrestling skills to score a second round KO.

Jay: Work is only 5'8 and weighs in at 300lbs while Joe stands 7'3 and only weighs 284lbs. I think, to keep this short and sweet, that Work is just too slow for Joe. And with Joe height advantage knees in the clinch shouldn't be that hard for him to land, just too bad Joe does not utilize this, he only throws punches in the clinch. But either way I see Joe with his hand raised at the end of the battle. Joe by TKO in round 3.

Predictions

Ray: Joe by KO at 1:28 of round 2.

Jay: Joe by TKO at 4:57 of round 3.

Jay: Our next match up is an interesting one that is going to be difficult to call in the middleweight division. The undefeated Ash Fuller makes his UPF debut against a dangerous opponent in Caliman "Soldier" Matos. Both these fighter hold a purple belt in Jiu Jitsu with the edge in wrestling going to Soldier and the edge in standup going to Fuller. Matos has all of his wins by way of first round submission and Ash won all his by decision. Does Matos have the stamina to last all three rounds? Or will he be able to score the takedown and then get the sub? Does Fuller have the grappling d to stop Matos' sub attempts? I just don't know. I'm gonna flip a coin on this one. (Grabs a coin from his pocket and flips is) Heads is Fuller. (Lands on tails) Looks like it's Matos. Let's say by sub in the first.

Ray: I think you're right Jay, this is gonna be a tough fight to call. I am going to go with Matos also, but I don't need to flip a coin to figure it out. Fuller, while undefeated, as of yet he hasn't been tested. I'm going to go with the more experienced, yet younger fighter, Matos. But, I am going to pick him by TKO in round 3.

Predictions

Jay: Matos by Submission at 3:24 of round 1.

Ray: Matos by TKO at 3:01 of round 3.

Ray: Alright the last fight on the undercard pits Cristoff Melkovick against Joaquin "The Heat" Herrera in the featherweight division. This isn't the first time these fighters have faced off against each other. Back at UPF WNF 8 in September Melkovick pulled off a surprise submission (strikes) victory. I think that Herrera learned a valuable lesson that night, and will be cautious and fight a little less aggressive. Herrera by decision.

Jay: Yeah pops I think you might be right. Herrera has the skill set to stand and bang or if it goes to the ground. Melkovick will look for to clinch again and for a takedown. But, even though you might be right pops, I see a repeat of the first fight. Herrera is a good fighter on paper but when it comes to actually climbing into the cage and getting shit done, Melkovick has the edge. I say Melkovick by TKO early in round 2.

Predictions

Ray: Herrera by Decision.

Jay: Melkovick by TKO at 1:12 of round 2.

Jay: And now for the main card. First off is a featherweight match up, Iker "Iker " Dedal will go up against Everaldo "EJ" Junior. Dedal is the older and more experienced fighter in this match up. But, these two are very evenly matched in skills, and I don't think the age or experience will play that much into the fight. Tough fight to call. Junior will be looking to clinch while Dedal will want to strike at a distance. If Dedal keeps it outside he wins, that simple. But, if Junior gets the clinch then it's goodnight for Dedal. It's not too hard for a good Muay Thai specialist to get the clinch. So, I'll go with Junior on this one. Junior by TKO.

Ray: You're right Jay this is a tough fight to call. I can't believe I'm doing this, but I'm gonna use a Jay trick here and... (Pulls out a coin) heads will be Dedal. (Flips the coin) heads it is, I'll go with Dedal by decision.

Predictions

Jay: Junior by TKO at 3:15 of round 3.

Ray: Dedal by Decision.

Ray: Alright we continue on with the main card with a super-heavyweight fight between "The American" Jack Jackson and Pittsburgh Steelers. Jackson has Steelers outclassed big time, in the ground game. But if you have been following Jackson then you know that all of his success has come from the stand up battles. And I'm not sure that he has what it takes to stand toe to toe with Steelers. I think Steelers is going to "dance like a butterfly and sting like a bee." And I hear Jackson is allergic to bees. Steelers by KO in round 1.

Jay: Steelers does have a big advantage in the stand up, which is where Jackson likes to fight. Both fighters have tremendous power, but Jackson might have the edge on power. In order for Jackson to win he needs to land a big shot early. Now I'm usually not the one rooting for the underdog but I'm going with Jackson in this one. Jackson will surprise everyone with a huge shot putting Pittsburgh to sleep. Nighty night. Jackson by KO early in round 1.

Predictions

Ray: Steelers by KO at 4:55 of round 1.

Jay: Jackson by KO at 0:42 of round 1.

Jay: Ok so we finish off the main card with a lightweight bout. "General Butt Naked" Joshua Blahyi will be tested by Mike "Badboy" Gouveia. "General Butt Naked?" What the f*ck was he smoking when he came up with his nickname? All I know is it wasn't green, or natural. Haha. But, even though he has a funky nickname he has had success inside the cage. All of his win come by way of submission, which is really bad news for Gouveia. Blahyi has Gouveia completely outclassed in both wrestling and Jiu Jitsu. Gouveia on the other hand has the stand up part of the battle sealed up. The real question is; who can dictate where the fight takes place? I think it's going to be Blahyi, by way of submission in round 1.

Ray: I think you're right Jay, that he winner will be determined where the fight takes place. But I think that the UPF newcomer will fight off Blahyi's takedown attempts and wear him down enough to score a first round KO. Gouveia by KO in round 1.

Predictions

Jay: Blahyi by Submission at 2:38 of round 1.

Ray: Gouveia by KO at 4:20 of round 1.

Ray: The first main event features a title fight in the middleweight division. The undefeated, undisputed, reigning champion Dean "The Convicted " Sutherland will allow "The Contractor" Laam OvGod the opportunity for a championship belt. All he has to do is defeat the champ. The champ looks strong in this fight. I've learned my lesson about picking against "The Convicted". I think he is going to win this fight easily. Just hoping that the challenger can put up more of a fight then his previous opponents. Sutherland by KO in round1.

Jay: Dean "The Convicted " Sutherland, he is as dominate of a champ as they get here in the UPF. I think he could easily go 10-0. Needless to say. The champ by KO in the first.

Predictions

Ray: Sutherland by KO at 2:30 of round 1.

Jay: Sutherland by KO at 2:22 or round 1.

Jay: Now we are down to the final fight of the evening. The undefeated super-heavyweight champion of the world Sandor "The HellHound" Clegane will test his skills against Mutant Morais. Morias is a well balanced fighter focusing on boxing. But, has other weapons in his arsenal. "The HellHound" has some awesome power in his fist. He has the power to KO just about anyone. His average fight time is 25 seconds. Morais will most likely try to bring this one to the mat, if he doesn't get knocked out first. I think the champs power will prove too fatal for Morias and he will keep his belt. Clegane by KO way early in the first.

Ray: Well Jay, I think this fight is going to be a lot closer than you think. I like the champ, always have, great fighter. But, I got a feeling about this fight. The challenger has some real skill here. And, I believe that he is not only going to hold his own against the champ but I think he is also going to edge out a decision and take home the belt. Morias by split decision.

Predictions

Jay: Clegane by KO at 0:25 of round 1.

Ray: Morias by Decision (Split).

Jay: So that's another amazing night of fights brought to you by Conquer, the official merchandise partner of the UPF, and Ultimate Pit Fighting, of course. I don't know about you dad, but I'm pumped for this one. Two champs put belts on the line, and 8 more fights on top that off. It'll be awesome. But for now, I'm off to take a dab. Peace, I'm out. (Gets up and walks away).

Ray: Wow and I was just getting started. (Laughs) Well I guess that's all for this week, this is Ray, see you next week.
