 Here's the full review for the last event under the Sin City Vale Tudo banner. SCVT is now a proud branch of Warriors of Torment, and now operates under the flag of Torment MMA - Las Vegas. SCVT 4 hosted the semi-final rounds of the lightweight, light heavyweight and heavyweight GP's, along with a semi-final match of the weltwerweight tournament. Here's a closer look at SCVT 4:

Knockout of the Night:  Bones Jones (Punch)
Submission of the Night:  Alexis Hendriks (Armbar) 

 MAIN EVENT
Weight class: Lightweight (155 lbs.)


“The Spirit Detective” Yusuke Urameshi (4-0-0) vs  Bones Jones (1-0-0)

What’s at stake?: A spot in the Lightweight GP final.

Round 1: Urameshi started out aggressive, landing a couple of jabs, a leg kick and a solid punch to Jones’ midsection. Bones tried to take him down but he avoided it easily, keeping the fight upright. There’s a brief exchange but none of the fighters connects with anything. Jones starts to find his tempo, and lands a couple of shots, a particularly good counter right landed on Urameshi’s jaw. Urameshi responds with an inside leg kick and a hard cross. Just after the 2-minute mark, Jones manages to drive through with a takedown, but Urameshi does a fine job in controlling him from the bottom, forcing the referee to stand the fight back up. The rest of the round saw some back-and-forth action, with Urameshi landing the best shots. The bell rings and the fighters go back to their corners.

Round 2: Urameshi resumes his work in the second round, scoring at least 3 powerful punches before the first minute, Jones lands a pair of inside leg kicks. Urameshi swings wildly with a series of punches but Jones avoids it. Urameshi lands a decent jab. Jones comes forward with a uppercut that lands. Urameshi is clearly hurt and buckles. Jones seizes the opportunity and rushes in with another uppercut, tumbling his barely conscious opponent to the canvas. 

Result: Jones / KO (Punch) / Round 2 (1:58)

 CO-MAIN EVENT
Weight class: Light heavyweight (205 lbs.)


JC “Squirrel” Bowen (2-0-0) vs  King Cheez (1-1-0)

What’s at stake?: A spot in the Light Heavyweight GP final.

 

Round 1: Bowen shoots for a takedown as soon as the bell rings, landing in Cheez’s guard. Cheez controls from the bottom and manages to get the butterfly guard. He tries to sweep Bowen, but “Squirrel” takes advantage and passes to side control. Bowen struggles to keep the position, as Cheez wriggles from the bottom. Bowen lands a knee to the body and stands back up. Both guys looking for the clinch, but none manage to get it. Cheez is shooting for takedowns but Bowen is sprawling well. They struggle to get the fight to the ground, but King eventually drags Bowen to the ground. He fires of a couple of punches from the guard, but Bowen scrambles back to his feet. Bowen manages to get another takedown but can’t keep Cheez on the ground. Cheez returns the favor and scores a takedown again. He fishes for an armbar but Bowen defends it well, and the round comes to an end. 

Round 2: Cheez immediately gets the fight to the ground. Bowen works from the bottom but can’t get any submissions. Cheez spends a good minute and a half peppering Bowen with ground n’ pound, but most of the damage is avoided. Bowen also lands a few strikes from his back. Cheez tries a kimura twice but fails, Bowen answers with an armbar attempt, but it wasn’t very tight so he pulls out of the submission. The bell rings, announcing the end of round 2. 

Round 3: King Cheez takes the center of the cage and swings a couple of shots at Bowen, opening a cut on his face. Bowen responds with a snapping leg kick, and moves into the clinch. Cheez gets underhooks and pulls guard. He can’t land the sweep though, and is content to stall for the moment. The ref steps in to get both fighter back up. Bowen cracks his opponent with a leg kick and follows up with a takedown into half guard. Bowen misses with an elbow, allowing Cheez to get butterflies and sweep him. Cheez goes for a leg lock but Bowen slips and gets top position. Bowen unloading with ground n’ pound from half guard. Cheez tries to block but he let his arm hanging and Bowen torques a kimura. Cheez is clearly in pain and is forced to tap out.

Result: Bowen / Submission (Kimura) / Round 3 (4:58)

 
MAIN CARD
 Weight class: Lightweight (155 lbs.)


Steven “Mighty Mouse” Moorhouse (2-0-0) vs  Dusty “T-Rex” Adamek     (2-0-0)

What’s at stake?: A spot in the Lightweight GP final. 

Round 1: Adamek backs Moorhouse against the ropes with a punch combo: a jab followed by a pair of crosses. Adamek misses with the head kick, allowing Moorhouse to land a left-right combination that opens a cut on Adamek’s face. Adamek bum rushes Moorhouse. He misses with the strikes, but it allowed him to close the distance and clinch. Moorhouse quickly drops down and gets a takedown into half guard. Adamek slips a leg and manages to get Moorhouse’s back. “T-Rex” landing punches to the head and body, setting up the rear-naked choke. Moorhouse controls his hands nicely and avoids the submission. Adamek showing good control as he’s still on Moorhouse’s back, landing punches to the body. Moorhouse manages to escape Adamek’s hooks and now is on top on his guard. As the round comes to an end, Dusty Adamek escapes his hips nicely and goes for an armbar, avoided easily by “Mighty Mouse”. Moorhouse misses with the ground n’ pound and eventually the ref gets both fighters back up. Adamek peppers him with punches to the head and body before landing a slick takedown into full mount. Unfortunately for him, there’s no more time to take advantage of the dominant position.

Round 2: Moorhouse started the second round better, chopping away at Adamek’s legs with some nice low kicks. Adamek throws a punch in response, but Moorhouse counters it nicely with a right hand of his own. Moorhouse is now the aggressor, and is pressing forward, but he’s missing with most of his shots. Adamek is content to avoid any damage for the moment. Moorhouse lands a combination and Adamek promptly shoots for a takedown, easily stuffed by his opponent. “T-Rex” is starting to breath heavily as the round reaches it’s half. Moorhouse continues his offense, missing with a couple of strikes but landing a nice head kick. Adamek recovers and trips him to the ground. Adamek postures up and scores with some ground n’ pound. He goes for an arm-triangle but Moorhouse sees it coming and defends the submission. The round ends with Adamek on Moorhouse’s half guard. 

Round 3: Adamek shoots for a takedown straight out of the gate, but stands back up almost immediately. Both guys exchange strikes but nothing lands from either side. Adamek and Moorhouse are looking to press each other against the ropes and clinch, but neither fighter gets it. Moorhouse scores a nice body kick as Adamek takes a breather – he’s definitely tired. Moorhouse is the fresher fighter and lands a right hand followed by a high kick. Adamek answers with a feint followed by a nice looking body shot. Moorhouse tackles Adamek against the ropes and both men are struggling to get the takedown. They separate. “Mighty Mouse” fakes an overhand and drives through with a double leg takedown. Both guys are taking a break right now, they’re certainly tired after this back-and-forth affair. The ref resets the fight standing, as both guys were stalling. Moorhouse lands a body kick and both guys try to land takedowns in the following minute, but no success. As the fight comes to an end, Moorhouse land a high kick and Adamek answers with a combination of punches.

Result: Draw. As a result, both guys will fight each other for the spot in the GP finals. 

 

Weight class:  Light Heavyweight (205 lbs.)

Ray “Saggy” Ravager (4-5-0) vs  John “Cowboy” McClane (1-1-0)


What’s at stake?: A spot in the Light Heavyweight GP finals.

Round 1: McClane starts the round stuffing the takedowns from Ravager, while scoring with a jab, followed by a thudding leg kick. Ravager is content to shoot for takedowns, but “Cowboy” is having success in keeping the fight standing. McClane is working the midsection with punches and kicks. McClane misses with a combination and Ravager’s persistence pays off, as he finally scores a takedown into half guard. Ravager slips his foot and gets the mount. McClane is in serious trouble as Ravager twists his arm into an Americana. The fight seemed over for a moment but McClane gets his arm free. Ravager continues to work for submissions an this time he goes for a kimura, but it’s easily defended. “Saggy” continues to attack, and now isolates one of McClane’s arms as he transitions into an armbar. McClane has no choice but to tap out.

Result: Ravager / Submission (Armbar) / Round 1 (1:54)

 
UNDERCARD 

Weight class: Welterweight (170 lbs.)

Opaki Ljvepo (4-2-0) vs  Ash “Bleeding” Sanguine (1-1-0)


What’s at stake?: A spot in the Welterweight GP finals.

Fight Breakdown: The fight starts with Sanguine on the offensive, landing a leg kick and chasing Ljvepo with combinations, but mostly missing. Ljvepo feints and drives through with a takedown. Ljvepo is scoring with some punches from top position but Sanguine threatens him with a guillotine and a triangle. Ljvepo manages to escape both, but shortly after the 2-minute mark, Ljvepo piles up and dives in with a huge punch, but Sanguine uses the momentum to latch up a triangle, forcing the tapout at 2:31.

Result: Sanguine / Submission (Triangle) / Round 1 (2:31)

 

Weight class: Featherweight (145 lbs.)

Alexis “The Original” Hendriks (1-0-0) vs  “Pwnd” James Bowens (3-1-0)


What’s at stake?: Winner will fight for the Featherweight title. 

Fight Breakdown: Bowens gets the takedown right away, but is almost immediately reversed by Hendriks, who drops for a heel hook. “Pwnd” defends it well, though, and manages to regain top position during the scramble. Bowens was basically stalling, scoring with some ground n’ pound to the body, but gave Hendriks a bit of space to work with. “The Original” threw his legs up for a triangle and beautifully switched it into an armbar. Bowens has no choice but to tap.

Result: Hendriks / Submission (Armbar) / Round 1 (0:59)
 

Weight class: Heavyweight (265 lbs.)

“The Russian Dragon” Ivan Dragonovish (1-0-0) vs  Dan Miller (1-1-0)


What’s at stake?: A spot in the Heavyweight GP finals.

Fight Breakdown: Dragonovish made it clear that he wanted the takedown right from the start; Miller answered with a thudding left hand and immediately tied him up in the clinch. From there, he worked some dirty boxing and eventually took “The Russian Dragon” down. Dragonovish managed to get top position after Miller went for a leg lock but couldn’t do much damage as his opponent controlled from the bottom. The second round saw Miller getting the better of the standup battle, while Dragonovish insisted with the takedown. Miller clinched again, but allowed Dragonovish to take him down. This time it was Miller reversing and getting top position. Both guys struggle on the ground, forcing a standup by the referee. The round closes with Miller scoring another takedown and controlling Dragonovish from the mount. Miller opens the third frame with yet another takedown. From top position, he attacked Dragonovish with an arm-triangle, a kimura and an armbar, the last one allowed Ivan a reversal. With just about 2 minutes left and trailing on the scorecards, Dragonovish unloaded with ground n’ pound but Miller did a nice job at preventing the damage. The round came to a dramatic end as Dragonovish almost ended the fight with a kneebar. Miller escaped however, and took the decision.

Result: Miller / Decision (Unanimous)

 

Weight class: Heavyweight (265 lbs.)

Metta World Peace (0-1-0)  vs  Harold “High Voltage” Velasquez (0-1-0)


What’s at stake?: --

Fight Breakdown: Peace showed his class right from the start, landing a takedown into half guard. He mixed up his ground n’ pound with submissions to advance to side control. From there, he unleashed vicious elbows, punches and knees to the body, until eventually a couple of big shots got Velasquez dazed, forcing the referee to step in and save him.

Result: Peace / TKO (Strikes) / Round 1 (4:43)
