Charles Crawley Q&A

Fighter profile of Charles Crawley by Alika Webb

Q: Dear martial arts fans today I will pay a visit to a a rising star in the light heavyweight division of London's Highland Games. Charles Crawley was a participant on the last version of the island. Charles quickly rose through the ranks and was crowned the very first Highland Challengers light heavyweight champion. He soon established himself as a household name defending that belt successfully three times before succumbing to the brutal force of fellow rising star Mel Gordon, the man he beat to win the belt in the first place. He went 1-3 in his last four fights on the island and as a result faded away in the background. Now lost in the shuffle, lurking from the shadows he's looking up, ready to climb the ladder once more on a quest for redemption.

Charles: Wow, what a nice intro, thanks man.

Q: You deserve it, you've already accomplished quite a lot in your relatively short career. Charles, you unfortunately ended your season on the island on a low note, how did that make you feel?

Charles: It didn't feel good, I can tell you that much (laughs). The loss to Mel Gordon was definitely a shock to me and it took me some time to rebound from that. Now my mind is clear again, I've moved on and I'm ready to get back in the cage.

Q: Do you blame Mel Gordon for your current predicament?

Charles: Absolutely not, Mel is a fantastic fighter. He is technically very skilled, has a great attitude and is a brilliant strategist. He learned from the mistakes he made and he dominated in our rematch, that day he simply was the better fighter and deservedly got the win.

Q: That's quite a compliment, do you say that purely because he beat you is there more to it?

Charles: I can't exactly say anything else without making myself look bad (laughs).

Q: Enough about your losses, let's talk about your last fight. Now that was a resurrection of your former glory. You completely overwhelmed your opponent until the doctor called for the bell. Do you think that it was correct stoppage?

Charles: The cut was bad enough for the doctor to call the fight and even if they let the match continue, the guy was just a few strikes away from going out so it would have ended soon regardless.

Q: Thanks for doing this interview and I wish you the best in your next fight.
