GKNY #57 FIGHT PREVIEW

Event Date: 12.03.2016
Location: New York
Arena: Hayashi's Lounge

Howdy KO Kings!

It is that amazingly fun time again where we get to preview some of the most anticipated violent prize fights from around the Tycoonverse. This time, we are stepping into the Gamma Kids # 57 card, being held locally in New York City at Hayashi's Lounge. We highly expect this event to sell out quickly, so fans are encouraged to get in early or you’ll be watching the highlights on the GKNY website.

The card looks well planned by the promoter, has some sick fights and promises some memorable finishes. We have a smorgasbord of lightweight, and welterweight action to delve into, including a scrap at the top of the card for the GKNY Welterweight championship belt. We will only glimpse the undercard from now on, so, without further ado, let’s throw down!

UNDERCARD

#1 - Toquinho Palhares (265901) vs Carlos "The Pride Of Pride" Neutron (269337) - Welterweight

Prediction: Neutron is 4-3, his opponent is 1-0. I am going with Neutron by Grinding Decision.

#2 - Devon "The Crippler" Gilliam (268622) vs Bronko "The Equine Butcher" Strunz (268153) - Welterweight

Prediction: Strunz has an impressive 2-0 record but is out matched on paper. Gilliam who is at 5-3-1 will snap his head back and take the KO win.

#3 - Khabib "The Eagle" Nurmagemedov (266513) vs Luke "The Raging Cajun" Psycho (258700) - Lightweight

Nurmagemedov has a beefy record of 11-8 vs Psycho's 3-5. Nurmagemedov is the taller man, and is at risk of being submitted for the sixth time in his career. Nurmagemedov will break his arm and get the tap convincingly.

#4 - Melvin "The Mouse" Morris (270623) vs Christian Rasmussen (275869) - Lightweight

Prediction: Fairly even, Rasmussen has the edge in skill. Rasmussen will take this one to the scoring cards and get the nod.

#5 - Hesa "Njurmi" MC (267054) vs Paave Heiskanen (262667) - Lightweight

Prediction: Heiskanen is the younger fighter, he is slightly taller and is a couple of pounds lighter. His camp will be drilling getting this fight on the ground as fast as possible, he is stronger there and can finish the fight there with out too much problem. If he chooses to stand and throw, it will be a long painful night for him as both fighters are fairly even standing. Heiskanen by ground victory.

MAIN CARD

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls. Put down your phones and tablets, and stop drooling over the ring girls, it is time for the main card!

#1 - Murhaa (259977) vs Cage (264806) – Welterweight

Phol "Ksp" Murhaa is 10-2-1, a decent record for the 24 year old Fin boxer. He has had a disappointing run, pulling out a majority Draw to Second Fist in January, then losing a title shot against Sackett by unanimous decision a month ago. Phol is desperate to turn his luck around and come up with an impressive win.

Xander "XXX" Cage has an awful split record of 5 wins, and 5 beatings. Coming off a loss by TKO only a couple of weeks ago, this tough Mauy Thai fighter is on the short turn around to get some momentum going. The question is, is he ready to take on a championship contender? That is a solid no in my meaningless opinion.

Prediction: Murhaa is the better fighter by a mile, this fight is perfect for him as he needs a small boost to get his head back into the winning ways. The fans love this kid, and it is the perfect opening to this card as the fans will revel in seeing their man knock out Cage with discontent. Murhaa to take the first round KO, he is hungry to prove a point after failing to challenge for the belt. This one will be over quickly.

#2 - Momochi (268914) vs Cederqvist (268005) - Middleweight

Sandayu Momochi is hailing from Japan and training out of the local gyms in New York City, is an undefeated submission specialist, and is here to prove he belongs in the title picture. All 5 wins were impressive submissions, and not one fighter has yet to take him past 2:18 of the second round.

Harry "The Captain" Cederqvist, arriving to this fight at 5 wins with 2 disappointments. From Sweden, all his 5 wins were by TKO stoppage, showing this young twenty two year old is carrying some natural power. He is currently on a 2 fight win trip, both coming from TKO victories.

Prediction: The problem with this fight is that even if, by some miracle The Captain managed to keep this fight standing, he’d still lose. That won’t happen though, Momochi is a beast on the canvas and Cederqvist will be slammed, and made to tap in entertaining style. Cederqvist by submission, first round.

#3 - Fist (265498) vs Durden (268325) - Welterweight

Second Fist, a 23 year old American brawler. Comes in with seven wins, no losses and 2 draws. A disappointing start to his contact with GKNY, having his first two fights end in a draw. Interestingly is who those two draws were against. Phol Murhaa drew at the beginning of the year, he then went on to challenge for the title last month as mentioned earlier in this preview. The second draw in mid-February was to current welterweight challenger, Milo "The Machine" Markovic, who is fighting for the welterweight strap tonight! Two very high profile draws, whilst he did not win, he also did not lose.

The first rule of this fight, is that we don’t talk about this fight. The Second rule of this fight, you get the point. Coming up next, in another welterweight battle, is, "The one and only" - Tyler Durden. I wonder if he likes soap.

Mr Durden has five wins next to his name, and one loss, which, was his last fight. He was knocked out cold in his first ever loss with only moments to go in the second round, one has to wonder how he will cope after his first ding to the ego.

Prediction: Both fighters are fairly even in weight and height. Fist is more over with the fans, but Durden is the better fighter on paper. A fighter coming off his first loss is always a confidence concern, but with Durden’s “fight club” attitude I think he should be good to go. Durden should ideally take this fight by KO, but I suspect Fist may have an iron jaw, which could stretch this out to a decision victory and redemption for Durden.

CO-MAIN EVENT - Corson (262406) vs Crow (263042) - Welterweight

The maple showdown.

The Canadian, Shayne Corson is fresh of knocking out an undefeated fighter (at the time) and is full of confidence. With 9 wins and only 2 strikes on his resume, he is a real prospect to make a charge toward the Welterweight belt and try again. Having lost a shot against Sackett late last year, he is hot on the trot to securing another main event title fight. 8 of his 9 fights were ended by ferocious TKO, proving his natural power and mean streak.

Stormy Crow, also reigning from Canada, is 4-1-0. He is on a hot three fight streak and is keen to end this fight in the same manner. He is around 5 cm shorter, and has a couple of pounds on Corson. As far as skill goes he does have a better game in the wrestle, but this is his only clear advantage in the fight.

Prediction: These guys should stand in the centre of the cage, half a meter from each other, and swap bombs. Crow has won a few more decisions so chances are he will be on the counter and Corson will be launching forward with devastating blows. I will tip Corson, he appears to have some overwhelming knock out power which will be too much for crow, who looks certain to stand and fight – toe to toe. 2nd round de heading by Corson.

MAIN EVENT - Sackett (265009) vs Markovic (266606) - WELTERWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

Get out the country flags, and empty energy drink cans because our main event is up next.

Introducing first, the challenger, a Canadian boxer, fighting out of New York City. He holds a record of six wins, one loss, and one draw. He stands 178cm Tall and is picking a fight! Milo "The Machine" Markovic!

And now, the moment the fans have all been waiting for..

An American mixed martial artist, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nevada. With ten wins, and only one loss, he is the former GAMMA Butt-Stompers Welterweight Champion, AND, is the CURRENT, UNDISPUTED, Welterweight, Champion of the world! Mordecai Sackett!

Milo "The Machine" Markovic, is on a great run. His last fight was concluded draw, and the four before that were all clear wins. Markovic is out matched here and will need some luck to take the belt away from a dominating Champion.

Mordecai Sackett, has won eight in a row. No stranger to being the Champ, a former Butt-Stompers division leader, who was forced to surrender the belt when he signed to GKNY, and is ready to send another challenger packing. He possesses hazardous punching power, super human conditioning and a heart of steel. I can see him holding the belt until he is promoted, directly to the waiting clutches of the GAMMA conglomerate. The Champ to retain, by decision.

That concludes our review of GKNY 57, and I for one am very much looking forward to seeing this card from my ringside thrown. A very big thank you is extended to our sponsors, Underworld Clothing (I am still waiting for me free shirt!) and all our partners that make these events happen.

Runt signing off, train safe, and train hard.
