Diode Looking Good as Ever at 35

Fighter profile of Light Diode by Abe Eaton

Light Diode, once ranked the 5th best pound-for-pound fighter in the world, is seeing a career resurgence after several months of "an upward struggle," Diode, 25-10, has strung together three consecutive wins after struggling with successive losses that forced him to "seriously contemplate retirement."

Now signed with CEC, Diode won his organizational debut with a sharp first round knockout over Brownie Anderson at 1:33. Signed by current manager Abe Eaton in December 2014, Abe was coming off of two hard losses and a job and contract loss. Working behind the scenes, Abe was able to get Light Diode signed to SYN. With a step up in competition, Diode struggled and managed to post one win.

The tides changed with a new organzation. After a Quick Fight and some exhibition bouts, Diode joined Aggressive Damage, posting a 2-1 record with the organization. When his contract was up, Diode explored free agency briefly. "It was either retire or see if I could find fresh waters, greener pastures," Diode commented in a recent media scrum after his win earlier this month. "We worked really hard in the gym to improve my striking game, and it worked," Diode said.

When asked who he'd like to fight next, Diode stated he wanted an opportunity to fight a top 10 ranked fighter within the organization. "Manolo Fu immediately comes to mind," said Diode, winking to the cameras.

As Light Diode continues to ride a wave "which will inevitably crash, violently," he is grateful for the opportunities presented to him. "I'm glad I could catch a second wind before I retire," Diode said. As for when he will retire, Diode said it would most likely be when his contract with CEC is fulfilled, or, upon winning another title. "It would definitely be nice to go out on top," Diode mused. As Diode awaits an official announcement as to whom his next opponent will be, he's working to keep his training regimen fresh. "He's ready to go, standing, clinching, and on the ground. He brings a nice combination of experience and talent that has sustained him. When he's on, he's on a rail," commented Manager Abe Eaton.

Diode expects to fight next in mid to late April and is confident he will have an ace up his sleeve. "This is an open warning to everyone. I'm coming. And I will viciously remove those in my way." Diode is in the midst of a full training camp for his next fight, and time will tell if his second wind will result in his second best win streak ever. Diode is cautiously optimistic, while his manager is certainly realistic. "I've always believed in this kid. You're about to see why!"
