GKNY #58 FIGHT PREVIEW
Event Date: 19.03.2016
Location: New York
Arena: Hard Knocks

Calling all fight fanatics!

It’s time, time to sit back in our chairs and watch the big men divisions of GAMMA Kids slug it out for peanuts. These gladiators will make the arena shake and tremble, with most of the card focused on the light heavyweight and super heavyweight divisions we are almost guaranteed some spectacular and powerful fights at this event.

But that’s not all. The super heavyweight championship is on the line!

Having been vacant for a little bit, the questions were in the air about when the title would go up for grabs, and of course who would fight for it. GKNY answered them with two monster warriors who are both up to the task.

And now ladies and gentlemen, put on your Underworld Skull Sleeve shirt, grab a beer and let’s do this! It’s time to fight!

UNDER CARD

#1 - Bruce Artemis (275758) vs Anthony "Rumble" Johnson (276800) - 205lbs

Preview: Artemis has a big weight cut to worry about and could affect him come fight night. Both fighters are coming off defeats and both have KO power. Artemis is more skilled and should take this out provided his weight cut doesn’t drain him too much.

#2 - "Flying" Remy Bon (265897) vs Makonnen Amore (261371) - 265+lbs

Preview: Both warriors have come into this bout on the back of a win and both need the victory to turn their career around. Fairly even on paper, Amore is the better boxer and should take this one by KO.

#3 - Jimmy "Bang Bang" Crackajack (267879) vs Alaric the Visigoth (265917) - 205lbs

Preview: An age old classic of the Boxer verses the Mauy Thai fighter. Crackajack is the better Boxer by far and is undefeated at 2-0 with both wins by stoppage. He has natural power and can take a good shot to the cranium without his legs buckling. Crackajack by TKO.

#4 - Joey "Hammer" Cartona (269616) vs Assassin Sokoudjou (265904) - 205lbs

Preview: Cartona is the better striker and both fighters are pretty square on the ground. Cartona likes to dance and strike and create distance, as a result he should collect a convincing decision win.

#5 - Keikan "2 Kiru" Kira (267816) vs Synyx "Scarlet Storm" Dall (266973) - 170lbs

Preview: Even in striking and submission fighting skill, the only advantage to be had is by Dall, who overpowers Kira in the Wrestle and Mauy Thai. Kira is on a massive 4 fight skid and has zero momentum. Dall for a decision victory and to end Kira's career with a flying thud.

MAIN CARD

#1 - Malakai Rex (270620) vs Barry Biglad (280214) - 265+lbs

A battle between two massive monsters is up first.

Rex is a talented twenty two year old Mauy Thai fighter, he is coming off a tragic loss bringing his credentials to 7 and 2, and is looking to prove a point and turn things around. I can see a possible concern straight away, both of his losses were by early KO leaving his chin now in question. He does have a good 35 pounds on his opponent though which could be a game changer.

Biglad is a young 18 year old fighter who has stormed out of Brooklyn and is starting to turn heads. He is undefeated with three wins, each and every one of them by brutal TKO finish. Barry is the taller fighter by 6 centimetres, but is quite lighter than his opponent having a natural weight of around 265 pounds. A better fighter in the boxing ring and on the wrestling mats, both even in BJJ and Biglad is out skilled in Mauy Thai. On paper, Biglad is the better fighter.

Prediction: If Rex uses his weight to snuff Biglad’s power on the ground, Rex will lose by boring decision. If Malakai works hard on keeping the distance and staying upright, he will test out that chin and come away with the KO. Biglad by T(KO).

#2 - Dan "The ugly stick" Skog (268989) vs Albert "Einstein " Tumenov (268936) - 170lbs

Skog, 22 and out of Sweden sitting at 5-3. He is the fan favourite to take thios bout, so expect cheers when he steps into the cage. As far as talents go, he is the supreme Mauy Thai fighter and is slightly better in the wrestle.

Tumenov, the not so terrifying Russian with a horrid 5-6 record. At only 22 years of age he could improve, but if that record gets any worse there won’t be a lot of point. He does have the lead in boxing skills, but that is about it.

Prediction: They’re roughly the same height, and weight. Both men are coming off conquest victories, and both men have never made anyone tap. They have both achieved TKO wins in their career though, this all points to this fight being a striking battle, or in the clinch. Skog will take this fight by TKO, he should get him in the clinch and rein down the knee’s and elbows.

#3 - Bonesaw McGraw (266983) vs Slade "Deathstroke" Wilson (263156) - 265+lbs

McGraw. I had a goat named McGraw once, it got led to slaughter. Which is exactly what is happening for Boneshaw if his opponent has the right game plan, though, I doubt he’d taste as good as our goat did. 4-4 American, and he is actually the better fighter on paper in all areas. He is a bleeder, and has lost fights because of it, at only 22 this could spell disaster for his career.

Wilson isn’t much better with 2-2, fighting out of Montreal. Both of his wins were by TKO and, both of his losses were by decision, this must mean he packs a decent punch and can take one as well.

Prediction: Both fighters are coming off a loss here, and both need the win badly. McGraw is the better fighter, but all Wilson needs to do is create space, use the jab and open the bloody gates of TKO land. Just keep it standing Wilson, and it is yours. Wilson by TKO(Cut).

Co-MAIN EVENT - Jacques "The Full Mountie" Rougeau (269215) vs Jeffrey

"McGregor" Mofumofuko (269708) - 265lbs+

It is that time of the card, the co-main event! Another super heavyweight clash of titans, and this promises to be a stand and bang fest for the fans.

Rougeau is coming off a win, in fact, he has won 4 of his last 5 fights. Every win was finished by brutal strikes. Now at 4-2, the Canadian is ready to bring the pain. Having a background in Mauy Thai gives him the edge in the kicking department, and the clinch could be a very important detail in this contest. The main tarnish on this fighter is he cuts easy, and bleeds. He has lost one fight before due to the problem, so let’s see if that comes into play.

Mofumofuko is looking decent at 3-1, but could certainly use a win here to strengthen his chances of getting a title shot sooner rather than later. Now, before we get too far ahead we need to mention that these two have history, having faced off once before in December of last year under the Las Vegas Tradition Fight Club organization. In that fight Rougeau took the win, throwing an amazingly timed superman punch that knocked Mofumofuko’s jocks off late in the third round.

Mofum has 20 lbs on him, but that didn’t seems to matter last time they fought.

Prediction: Will history repeat itself? Fight of the night contender, last time they met they stood and exchanged for three rounds, then Rougeau landed a high risk shot. Many have questioned if it was a lucky shot, I think it may have been. Mofumofuko has improved, and has a win under his belt since being handed the loss, he will take this in a third round TKO finish by the ultimate revenge – he may even try to do it with the same move that got him – the superman punch.

MAIN EVENT - Frank "The Growler" Brewer (266369) vs Per Saukko (259825) - 265lbs+ TITLE FIGHT

There have been some fantastic bouts on the card, and I bet by this stage the main event will be delayed by 5 minutes because the cleaners are still scrubbing blood off the canvas.

As always we’d like to thank our reliable sponsor, Underworld Clothing.

This fight, is for the vacant, super heavyweight championship belt!

Introducing first, the brawling American, fighting out of Las Vegas Nevada, he stands 193cm tall, has a professional record of nine wins, two losses and one draw. He is hungry, and he is ready to fight. Frank "The Growler" Brewer!

His opponent, stands 205cm tall and has a record of seven wins, and three losses. He hails from Finland, and is ready to go to war for the top prize. Per Saukko!

Frank is fresh off a win which will do wonders for his momentum going into this title fight, he seems to struggle in the clinch though, with both of his losses, and the draw being very heavy clinch based fights. Saukko has come off a loss, but seems ready to dismantle his opponent.

Prediction: Saukko has the edge with 40 pounds and 12 cm on his rival, he has seven finishes by strikes to his name, and is a former MMA Gods heavyweight champion so he is no stranger to a big match. Brewer on the other hand, as we will hear in out interview below, is very confident. Not only that, but through his 12 fights, he has only lost 2 and drawn once. He has never been KO’d.

My problem is that Saukko has had opponents rocked several times in the past and couldn’t seal the deal. With Frank having a decent chin I think he could get through and take the fight. Brewer, by TKO, 3rd round.

We sat down with Frank this week, this is what was said:

The Dirty Box: Frank, you have a tough task ahead of you on the 58 card, going head to head with Per Saukko. What are your thoughts on your opponent?

Frank: Well my opponent looks pretty strong and well rounded. But I believe my kickboxing is way better and hopefully I can keep this a kickboxing match. I really don’t respect my opponents chin so any clean head kick and this match is all over.

TDB: Great. It must feel good to be asked to fight in this title fight Frank, would you say?

Frank: Well it was a long time coming. There are so many good fighters in the division it is a proud moment in my career to finally get one (a title shot).

TDB: There has been a fair bit of talk in the media that you didn’t deserve this title shot, and Fifth Fist did. How do you respond to that?

Frank: Fifth Fist is a can crusher, and a fight ducker. When I win the belt I have an open invitation for him to face me. He is overrated and when he faces me I will expose him for the fraud he is.

Another card down, many more amazing fights in store. That’s enough from me, until next time, this is Runt, stay safe but drill often.
