GKNY #59 FIGHT PREVIEW

Event Date: 23.03.2016
Location: New York
Arena: Hard Knocks

Attention MMA maniacs!

If you’re looking for some action packed fights, head down to New York’s Hard Knocks arena on the twenty third to catch the #59 GKNY card. There will be blood, bone rattling impact and hard slogged slams. We have a mixed bag this evening, weights ranging from featherweight right up to a monster clash of super heavyweights, so plenty of action to be had.

So let’s tape up those fists and get ready to drop some bombs!

UNDERCARD

#1 - Mike Jackson (269874) vs Ruban Kozlov (273449) - 145lbs

Prediction: Both fighters have average records, Koslov is the better fighter here and has a very decent advantage. He is far too skilled for Jackson and will end it in round 2 by submission.

#2 - Paave Heiskanen (262667) vs Adlan "Borz" Amagov (266515) - 155lbs

Prediction: Both have even win/loss records, Heiskanen is at 2 and 2, and has the skill to take this contest down. Decision win for Heiskanen.

#3 - Rancid Crabtree (269345) vs Dean Mason (269697) - 185lbs

Prediction: Dean Mason may as well bring an axe with him, because this will be a murder scene. Undefeated at 3-0, all by brutal finish, Crabtree will be beheaded in the first round by T(KO).

#4 - Reverend "The Sinner" Sin (260640) vs Gokhan Ozkul (269237) - 265lbs+

Prediction: Huge weight advantage, decent height advantage, he is a hell of a lot more talented and should retire if he loses this fight. Ozkul will outperform here by a mile. Ozkul by fatality, doesn't matter when.

#5 - Pierre Letang (268026) vs Cain "The Slayer" Jones (262925) - 145lbs

Prediction: Another two sloggers on the undercard with average split records. A much closer contest then the others on the card thus far. Both are at a very similar skill level, and both can win fights from anywhere making the finish hard to pick. Letangs team should be setting him up on a ground attack and a sub victory game plan. Letang by submission.

MAIN CARD

#1 - Mario "The Sicilian Assassin" Puzo (261625) vs "The GOAT" Rene Fromage (260528) - 170lbs

Signor Puzo, the Italian has a half way decent record at 10-5, but all ten of those wins were by decision. The Sicilian Assassin couldn’t punch his way out of a paper bag by the looks of it. The guy is pretty skilled though, just no power. Hot off a win over Ignor Stankevich he is ready to make a statement to the division.

The Goat, is outclassed by his opponent in experience sitting at 4 and 1. The French Warrior! On a 4 fight streak, this could be the challenge that breaks the second loss of his career. He is outmatched on paper and could struggle.

Prediction: Puzo is predictable, most of his wins come from a clinch heavy game plan, so expect him to go there and grind for the decision win. His weakness is that he isn’t aggressive in stand up, and Fromage could abuse that. Puzo by decision.

#2 - Rustam "Tiger" Khabilov (268965) vs Evan "The Python" Payton (267824) - 185lbs

Ever seen a Russian Tiger before? Look no further, Rustam Khabilov is 22, a wrestler, with a not so hot 7-6 record. However, he has been working hard on his ground game, so who knows what level fighter we could see come fight night.

A tiger verses a python apparently.

Evan Payton, a home grown American boxer from East Saint Louis hanging on to a 6-3 professional resume. He is on a two fight skid, so he’ll be looking to break the negative energy. Noteworthy that the snake has a brown belt in BJJ and four of his six wins come from submission. He’ll almost certainly want to shoot early.

Prediction: Payton will take this down to the ground and that’s where it is likely to stay. Khabilov has been working hard on ground defence, but it won’t be enough to hold off a brown belt. The Python by submission, second round.

#3 - Al "Beerbelly" Coholic (258006) vs Rikkard Hanson (260249) - 185lbs

Do not be surprised if Al Coholic doesn’t even show up to this fight, on paper, he is outmatched. A mid-twenties Kiwi boxer, ey bro! Standing behind five wins and two losses and running two wins in a row, both by KO.

Rikkard Hanson, hailing from Denmark, this guy is very skilled and is looking to represent his country on an international stage in the future. Seven wins in his career so far, but four losses go along with it. A ground fighter, and a very good one at that, it seems a certainty that this fight goes to the mat.

Prediction: Hanson has this fight in the bag. He has his opponent evenly matched standing, his advantage is on the ground where he can dominate Coholic, and make him tap in the first round.

Co Main Event - Bronko Buster (265872) vs Jimi "Powerhouse" Powell (261577) - 265lbs+

A super heavyweight blockbuster for our co main event, a clash of muscle and flubber!

Bronko Buster, what a name! The Bulgarian brute! A very talented boxer fighting out of the local New York area, supporting 6 wins and 3 losses against his name. Weight could be a force to reckon with in this contest with his opponent having a lot of weight on him, but ironically he is shorter so reach could also play a part. Coming off an impressive victory, Buster is on his way up and a very large speed bump lay in his way.

The Powerhouse Powell, and what a monster he is. The American working man, weighing a massive 276 pounds, and a dynamite boxer with a scary ground and pound game. He scored a loss in his last outing, he didn’t look ready for that fight so let’s hope he has prepared better this time. He is now at 9 wins and 4 losses, not too bad, but a win here would put him in a good spot for a run at the top.

Prediction: Both of these big men carry impressive punching power, both have a long list of KO finishes, leaving this reporter excited that these two men will stand in the pocket and bang on. This fight will fill the highlight reel, and is candidate for KO of the night.

Powell is too big, if he is smart he’ll take Buster down and use his weight to smother him and break his face with solid ground and pound – but it appears he likes to stand up, which isn’t a bad thing for us fans. Powell by impressive KO, first round.

Main Event - Caliph Hameed Shahzad "Arabic Pimp" Huseyin (263005) vs Petr "The Prince" Kropotkin (267819) - 185lbs

You can feel it in the air, the tension, the buzz, the main event is next!

Ladies and Gentlemen, it is time, for our main event of the card. This bout is for three, five minute rounds in the GAMMA Kids middleweight division and is sponsored by Underworld Clothing.

Introducing first! A Boxer from Yemen, with a professional record of seven wins, and only one loss. He stands 202cm tall, he slaps hard, and his name is ridiculously long, and he is - THE Arabic Pimp, Caliph! Hameed! Shahzad! Huseyin!

His opponent! A mean fighting machine from Russia, with seven wins and three losses. He stands 188cm tall, and is a boxer/BJJ hybrid fighter. Petr "The Prince" Kropotkin!

This is an exciting main event and a chance at retribution for the Arabic Pimp. Beaten by the champ in his last fight, and his only career defeat, he will be looking to avenge the loss and start on the road of booking a rematch. The fans love this guy, unsure why with a name like that, likely because his hands hold devastating KO power.

The Prince also has a lot on the line here, fresh off a picking up a submission win at GKNY #54, he is looking to defeat a former title contender and put himself in the position to challenge for the belt. He is a skilled submission player, and that will come into play in this bout with 4 of his wins coming from the ground.

Prediction: A key note here is both of these warriors have a big cut to make weight for this fight and that could gas both of these guys early and affect the energy flow. The second note is that the Arab is a stand up fighter, and his opponent fights off the floor.

Huseyin has undisputed power in his hands, and has proven he can fight ground fighters and keep it standing in the past. I think he wants it more, and I think he is itching to get back in the cage with Dundee and prove the fans wrong. Huseyin by KO, second round.

Another card previewed, and not to toot my own horn, but I am sitting at over 75% success rate for predicting these fights, so stay tuned and pay attention!

Until next time, train hard.
