GAMMA #553 Boma v Tahuna - PREVIEW

Event Preview: GAMMA#553 Boma v Tahuna
Global Association of MMA
2016-04-23, Los Angeles, LA Memorial Colossuseum
Author:Mentor Guru Corleone

Event Date: 23.04.2016

Location: Los Angeles

Arena: LA Memorial Colossuseum (93,607)

Issue 12 is being served up! And what an issue, not one, but TWO championship belts on the line, and all the bragging rights and highlights that come with it. A monster event gracing the busy LA nightlight once again, the fans will be out in the masses for this one.

GAMMA is once again proving why it is one of the best promotions on the planet, so let’s get straight into the fights!

UNDER CARD

#1 - Pertti Silsa vs Decision Machine - 205 lbs

Prediction: Two light heavyweight warriors go to battle once again. A rematch after the pair were given a draw from the judges at GAMMA #547, a perfect example why every professional out there will tell you not to leave it to the judges. Decision Machine won that fight, fair and square. And he will again, ironically, by decision.

#2 - Willy Wonka vs Chris Gunn - 145 lbs

Prediction: A fast feather weight fiesta on the undercard to awaken the chants from the fans! A pretty close contest, Wonka has some height on him and loves to grapple, whereas Gunn likes to stand up and fire shots. Both men are coming off a loss, and I’d bet good money this fight will be decided on the ground. Willy Wonka will wrap him up, get on the topdeck and make him tap.

#3 - Bon Aqua vs Amirezza Pourramenazanali - 185 lbs

Prediction: Amirezza is the clear favourite in this middleweight war. With 20 wins and 14 losses, his experience will shine through and confidence will be high after a win in his last outing. Aqua is 13 and 3, coming off a loss, but I think he can turn it around and get the upset by TKO.

#4 - Doomsday Drost vs Escobar De Vega - 265+ lbs

Prediction: Drost is bigger having over thirty five pounds on Vega, and a good 13cm in height, and, on paper he is the better fighter. The question here is, at 39, how many fights does he have left? Another rematch, this time from GAMMA #549, where they ended in a tied fight. It was definitely a close fight, but my card had De Vega taking it by a narrow margin after a resurgence in the final round. Logic would say Vega will be fired up for revenge, and will want to prove without a shadow of a doubt that he is the better fighter. De Vega by decision.

#5 - Arlan Castro vs Krystian Wojnasiewicz - 155 lbs

Prediction: A good even fight to cap off the prelims. Castro is the favourite given he is on a two fight streak, but make no mistake, despite Wojnasiewicz's 4 loss streak, he is very dangerous. And probably even more dangerous, is the fact that he is falling out of the top ranks of GAMMA, a 3 time lightweight champion and recently failing to take the belt from Oscar Boma two fights in a row. He attempted a comeback against Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi at #548 and failed by decision. Will he be fired up? Or is he one match closer to hanging up the gloves? Castro has had a good start at GAMMA going 2-0, I think it will continue and he'll take another decision win.

MAIN CARD

#1 - Josiah "the Spaceman" Bartlet (207713)(RED) vs "The Worlds Most Dangerous" Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi (218431)(BLUE) - 155 lbs

Red Corner: The Spaceman is apparently from Area 52, interesting, with 21 wins and 10 losses along with 2 draws at 31 years of age, not too bad. He is coming off a crushing defeat though, the kick that Oscar Boma landed at GAMMA #548 was deafening - the belt was on the line and unfortunately for Josiah the night ended in the fourth round. He looks good and seems fit and hungry, he'll be looking for a quick win to jump start his campaign at another title shot.

Blue Corner: From Iraq, Abu is a dangerous Muay Thai fighter with a professional record of 21 wins and 12 losses. He has come close to the belt in the past, and wants another chance to come his way. He last fought at GAMMA #548 where he won by unanimous decision, another win would put him further up the totem pole for sure.

Preview: Both fighters have heavy hands, so bombs are being dropped without a doubt. Baghdadi has him in the stand-up department, though only just. While talking about Baghdadi, He has been knocked out eight times. For that reason, I am going with Bartlet by KO.

#2 - Pablo "El Patrón" Escobar (190521) vs Russian "The Undead" Zombie (224142) - 145 lbs

Red Corner: The Columbian Warlord. Now fighting out of Las Vegas, and he has Twenty five wins, and fourteen losses. Pablo is 34, and a spectacular wrestler that has some serious heat on a four fight win streak. He can win anywhere, having won fights by any means in the past he will be very ready to exploit any weakness he finds.

Blue Corner: A mixed martial artist of world calibre from Russia, twenty nine, with a professional record of sixteen wins, seven losses and one draw. In his last fight he proved social media wrong avenging his draw to Jack Burton, this time beating him by convincing decision at GAMMA #549. He tends to stand and fight, so expect Pablo to try to exploit him on the ground, or in the clinch.

Preview: Pablo is taking the Zombie down to the ground. Most of the fight should stay there, until its violent end any way. Escobar via submission or GNP finish.

#3 - Convicted Killer (187371) vs Michael Proctor (187233) - 265+ lbs

Red Corner: Convicted Killer, what an unfortunate name, handy for promoting an MMA fight though. He hails from Philadelphia now training out of LA, with 23 wins to his name, and ten losses. He is strong all round, and is on a two win run, both by impressive stoppage. He is a big unit at 200cm tall, and 298 lbs, likes to stand and bang, at 34 his chin is starting to be in question with 8 TKO losses. That could play a role here.

Blue Corner: An English boxer, training out of St Petersburg, he is 34 years of age and is 285 lbs - 195cm, so not too far below his monster opponent. He has fourteen wins, and seven losses. All 14 wins were by TKO, including his last fight at GAMMA #548 where he ended it via TKO in the first round. Two monster heavyweights, both like to stand = entertainment.

Preview: Absolute slug fest of a fight, can't wait for this one. Both guys are fairly even on paper, but the Killers chin should certainly be called into play. Proctor by TKO.

Co-MAIN EVENT - Fernando Prado (181926) vs Fabian Hoi (225251) - FEATHERWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

The following contest is scheduled for three five minutes rounds, in the GAMMA Featherweight Division. And is for, the GAMMA, World Featherweight Championship!

Introducing first! The Champion, fighting, out of the red corner, reining from Brazil by way of Rio De Janeiro and fighting out of Las Vegas under the management of Whymer Van Mastodon. At 34 years old he has a professional record of 22 wins and only 2 losses, he stands 165 cm tall and weighs in at 145 lbs. He is the GAMMA World Featherweight Chapion, Fernando Prado!

The challenger, fighting, out of the blue Corner, from Olso Norway fighting out of New York and under the management of Bjorn O'Donnel, he is 29 years old with a professional record of 21 wins, 7 losses and 1 draw. He stands 163cm tall, weighing in at 145 pounds, and is making his GAMMA debut, Fabian Hoi!

Preview: Prado is a true fighting Champion. After a huge revenge victory over Henrik Torhammer at GAMMA #549, ending it brutally early in the first (as predicted here BTW) by TKO. He is high on energy, and will be fired up for his second title defence. Fabian Hoi is a fresh face to GAMMA looking to make an impact, he is a former Synchronicity featherweight champion - the question we are about to see answered is, can he take on the competition in GAMMA? Much less, the champ. Prado is too strong to bet against, he is the more skilled fighter, and I think he will embarrass the challenger in the first round.

MAIN EVENT - Oscar Boma (212771) vs Eka Tahuna (206284) - LIGHTWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

The following contest is scheduled for three five minutes rounds, in the GAMMA Lightweight Division. And is for, the GAMMA, World Lightweight Championship!

Introducing first! The Champion, fighting, out of the red corner, from Belgium, fighting out of Las Vegas and under the management of Alika Webb. He has a professional record of 24 wins and only 4 losses, standing 170 cm tall and weighing in at 155 pounds he is the GAMMA, Lightweight Champion, Oscar Boma!

The challenger, fighting, out of the blue Corner, hailing from Vulva Yemen, fighting out of Las Vegas under the management of Rabid Alien. He has a professional record of 13 wins, 4 losses and 1 draw, he stands 176cm tall and weighs in at 155 pounds, he is undefeated at GAMMA, Eka Tahuna!

Preview: Oscar Boma, six fights on the trot making this his third title defence. An exciting fighter who looks for the finish, he is very talented and very dangerous. Eka Tahuna has earned his shot at the champ, on a four fight streak, and winning all three of his GAMMA fights in entertaining fashion so far, he is a clear contender. Tahuna has a very slight height advantage, but the only thing to spot here is that the Champ has never been knocked out, and he has copped some bombs. Tahuna on the other hand has been finished 5 times, that could be the key to this fight. The score card is fairly even, being a stand up battle I expect Boma to retain convincingly, by second round finish.

Another GAMMA card, and a few more just around the corner! Until then, train your fighters hard, and I’ll see you on the next card. As always, until next time, this is Runt, work hard, train harder.
