BFT-122 - The Dome

Event Preview: BFT-122 - The Dome
Blunt Force Trauma
2012-07-22, Sydney, Sydney Superdome
Author:Antonius Proximo

Greetings and salutations everybody! Danny Ocean joining you guys here to get the word out about the latest card. You guys are in for a treat. We're heading to the Sydney Superdome! BFT's biggest venture yet, and this card is stacked from head to toe with talent. Don't believe me? Have a look.

BFT - 122 The Dome Preview

Light Heavyweight - Hall of Famer Jake the Snake (14-4) [BFT 11-3] fights against former champ Tap Out (16-8) [BFT 14-7].

With the longest run of title fights in the BFT (10 in a row), this guy has earned his place in the Hall of Fame. Outstanding knockouts, spectacular submissions...this guy does it all. He's not afraid of any fighter, or the skills they may possess. All he wants to do is go out there and show his fans a good fight. And believe me, they love finishes.

A frequent fighter, Tap Out has built his name off of his submission skills. That's what he used to gain the Light Heavyweight belt from Lincoln Burrows. Not convincing enough? His first defense used those same skills against Shogun BDown. Don't let this fool you, he has a solid stand up game too. Just ask Karl Drogo or Unisa Kalifa. They'll vouch for him.

Prediction: Man, this is a great way to start off the main card. A rematch of two tough guys from a couple months back. A decent amount of time passed. Not enough to make me think the outcome will be too different. The Snake by Round 2 knockout.

Light Heavyweight - Light Heavyweight Belt Contenders Antoine "A-Train" Wallace (16-10) [BFT 15-10] and Shogun BDown (14-2) [BFT 7-1] stick up their dukes.

Being built up in the BFT, Antoine has POWER. His takedowns are hard, his ground and pound is devastating, and he has transitioned fairly well with his boxing. In his last 8 fights, he has only lost 2 fights. To whom did he lose, one may ask? Both were to Akihito Tatsuhiko Jr., the current BFT Middleweight Champ and the headliner on tonight's card. With his last win at Light Heavyweight, he wants to try and build a successful career in the division.

BDown started his career in the Heavyweight division. He got the RCS belt and then transitioned over to the BFT. His BFT career has been spectacular, his only loss being to Tap Out for the BFT Light Heavyweight Championship. Along the way, he has earned 4 'Of the Night' awards. His last two performances were Knockout of the Night performances, ending in the first round. He's ready for a second go at the belt.

Prediction: Shogun is tough, but "A-Train" has his number. If he doesn't drag him down to the ground, he better watch his back. But I think it'll happen. Wallace by Decision.

Lightweight Title! - BFT staple "Mace" Enrico Mazzarri (9-0-1) [BFT 8-0-1] and 4 time BFT 'Of the Night' winner "Kana" Kuroda Atsushi (13-4) [BFT 5-3] fight for the vacant Lightweight Title.

Undefeated in his MMA career, Mace has looked like a freight train. Throughout his BFT career, any fight that has not ended in a decision was finished in the first round. His sole draw? Not only was it to the strong "Fishbowl", but it was avenged in his next outing by a first round submission. He's going to press his luck and going to try to see if lightning can strike twice.

Riding a 3 fight winning streak, "Kana" is looking to build on the momentum he has made. 3 'Of the Night' row victories have made great success for him. He's been waiting for this chance to earn some hardware, something that throughout his career he has not yet been able to get a crack at. Well now is his time to step up and show that he is the champ that he is making himself to be.

Prediction: Another rematch. "Mace" has been sharp. Really sharp. The last time he had a rematch, he took his experience from the first match-up and destroyed the guy. Will it be that devastating again? Not sure. Will he take the victory? I think so. Mazzarri by Unanimous Decision.

Co-Main Event - Middleweight - BFT Hall of Fame's most recent entry Guilherme "Buscape" Alves (16-4) [BFT 14-3] fights 2 time BFT Middleweight Challenger Mark "Clisham" Edwards (11-4-1) [BFT 11-4].

"Buscape" has recorded victories against some of the most famous fighters to head through BFT. Lightweight Contender Kuroda Atsushi? Submitted. Middleweight Champion Akihito Tatsuhiko Jr.? Submitted 3 times over. Pay-per-View? Killed Flikviktor Lymsleiasialeeds in BDU. This man has a career of fighting, and on his free time beating, champions and Hall of Famers. Win or lose, he will put on an exciting fight.

With an 11-4 career record in BFT, Edwards has made a name for himself in the org. Only one of those fights has gone to decision. Most of the finishes were completed in the first round. Head kicks, punches, strikes. He doesn't want to play it safe. He wants to decisively win. He wants to make it clear to the world that is all that and then some. The largest thing is that he wants to bang things out. He's not one to just lay on top of his opponent. He wants to make him hurt and knock whoever he's against out.

Prediction: Hey, who ever said that rematches were bad things? These two faced off 2 months ago. I guess I'm just one that thinks that history shows us Edwards' weakness. Alves by Round 1 submission.

Main Event - Welterweight - A superfight between 2 of BFT's best! Middleweight Champion Akihito "Rikiya" Tatsuhiko Jr. (18-7) [BFT 10-4] squares off against the Welterweight Champion "The Kraken" Jermaine Choake (13-5) [BFT 5-0].

On a 3 fight winning streak, "Rikiya" is more than ready for this fight. One might ask, how can a newly crowned champ be up for a superfight? Well, when you beat a champ and have back-to-back victories against Antoine Wallace, I think it helps. When you hold other victories over Abu Davee, Thiago de Souza, Ricco El Suave, and Keiji Numa, you could say that he is more than deserving of this superfight. After his 4th attempt at a BFT belt (2 times at 170 and 2 times at 185), he was able to walk away with the 185 one. He's looking to (unofficially) take another crack at the 170 belt.

Undefeated in his BFT career, "The Kraken" has looked nothing short of spectacular. Besides winning the Welterweight Belt over the Hall of Famer Guilherme Alves and having a solid defense against Super Hans, he has won an 'Of the Night' award in each of his BFT outtings. Submission of the Night victories against Ricco El Suave and Igor Wietrzny. Fight of the Night performances against Mic Krilla, Guilherme Alves, and Super Hans. Although his Welterweight run has been filled with sharks, "The Kraken" has passed every test with flying colors. He's looking to do the same, once again.

Prediction: Man, oh man. This is going to be a killer. On the one hand, you have the more experienced, well traveled (between welterweight and middleweight) fighter. On the other, we have the bigger guy, fighting in the weight class he owns the belt. It's a tough one to choose between. If it goes to the ground, I would like to think that Choake can/will finish it. But if things stay standing, Akihito would have a solid edge. It really does come down to a coin flip. The only reason I would give "The Kraken" the edge is because he holds the belt at welterweight. "Rikiya" has taken 2 shots at the belt down there, and was not successful either time. Choake by Decision.

Other Fights on the Card:

Heavyweight: Laguna Lunaris vs Peter "Rhino" Tysskling

Light Heavyweight: "The Dime" Ken Thentheros vs "The assasin" Drasek Riven *

Light Heavyweight: "Lone Star" Dallas MacMillan vs Harry "The Hammer" Cross

Lightweight: "The Punisher" Kaice Gunn vs Paul "Punching Bag" Reid

Listen guys. This card is going to be something special. All of these guys are ready to destroy each other, and all the fans out there who buy tickets will not be disappointed. Seriously guys, enjoy!
