Event Preview: Revolution XC 911
Revolution XC - aspire
2016-09-11, Los Angeles, Venice Beach
Author:Jake Fury

Hello people of Los Angeles! Greetings to every proud citizen of USA who came to Venice Beach Arena on one of the saddest dates of American history! To honor the memory of our brave fellow-countrymen, who tragically lost their lives fifteen years ago, Revolution XC has decided to organize a memorial event with 3 title fights and 7 other exceptional fights! This event has been brought to you courtesy of Unity Clothing Las Vegas! Now please everyone stand up for a minute of silence, followed by the National Anthem of the United States of America!

Papa Shango vs Kaleva Vettenranta  265 lbs. title

Here we are, seconds away from the main event, isn't that exciting! There it is, as you have anticipated it, five rounds, five minutes each, the heavyweight category title! First, let me introduce you the contender! He is 27 year old, from Finland, with a record of 14-4 and 210 lbs heavy - Kaleva Vettenranta! He is hot on a winning streak - scoring three first-round wins by submissions since he put pen to paper with Revolution XC. And now hold your breath for a moment and prepare your hands to clap excitedly, because the champ is here!

Do I need to introduce him, you know him pretty well, but it would be a pleasure for me to present you the 27 year old knockout machine, the one who uses his bare fists when he needs to hammer a nail at home, coming off an amazing 13-4 record, standing strong at 280 lbs, the one they call Madagascar's pride, Papa Shango!

This amazing clash of titans is going to offer you a fight between an exceptional boxer, which Papa Shango really is, and a ground specialist in the face of Kaleva Vettenranta. Shango feels comfortable both when striking from distance and playing it dirty in the clinch. His opponent is a very good wrestler, who prefers taking the fights to the ground as early as possible and utilizing his powerful ground and pound and skillful submissions.

Shango's last appearance at Revolution XC saw him trying his luck at the super heavyweight category and losing badly to Afonso Cabral, thus ending his winning streak. Most important thing for our champion is to keep himself away from the ground in order to keep his title after the fight. But is he skillful enough in wrestling to match Vettenranta's takedown ability? I am very curious to see if Shango's  70 lbs advantage would help him stay at stand-up position but I have a feeling that we won't be hearing the Shango Tango after the final ding.

Rocco Antonio "Italian Stallion" Siffredi vs Andy Fitzgerald  185 lbs. title

The co-main event of the night isn't less exciting than the main one! Rules are the same - 5 rounds, 5 minutes each and the stake is as big as it could be. Ladies and gentlemen, you will be watching a bloody battle for the Revolution XC's middleweight category title! As the tradition says, we should start with the contender! He is 27 year old, coming from St. Lucia, with an impressive record of 12-3, all 12 wins coming from knockouts, Andy Fitzgerald! And now it's time for our champion!

At the age of 27, red hot on 12 straight wins streak, The Island Season 5 champion, the "Italian Stallion", Rocco Antonio Siffredi! And I am sure you know him perfectly well, not only from his impressive MMA achievements but also from his movie career, if you know what I mean!

We should be proud of our champion who has lost only his professional MMA debut and then scored 12 wins! He is a very strong boxer, smashing enemy faces from distance and also feeling good in the clinch!

His opponent , Andy Fitzgerald, is also an amazing boxer but seems his style is more clinch-oriented. Both fighters know their opponent extremely well because this will be their third battle for the last 2 months. Siffredi won both of their previous meetings - first eliminating Fitzgerald from The Island's Final Tournament and second time by knocking him out at Revolution XC's grand opening since moving to Los Angeles and claiming the title!

I am expecting to see an exciting stand-up rough-and-tumble, with the "Italian Stallion" scoring a hat trick over Andy Fitzgerald and keeping the title for himself!

Don Julio Cesar Chavez vs Fernando Luiz  170 lbs. title

Third fight on the way and third title on the table! This is when you understand that things are serious around Revolution XC! Fighting for the welterweight category title, we will be watching a clash between two 27 year old combatants! The contender, coming all the way from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on a 8-2 professional MMA record, the one who delivered 8 KOs in his 8 victories, the spinning backfist master, Fernando Luiz! And now I wanna hear you roar for our champion, The Island Season 5 Tournament Runner-up, with a personal record of 13-4, coming from Las Cruces, USA, Don Julio Cesar Chavez! Chavez lost his final at The Island against Rick James, but came stronger and defeated him after a month thus claiming Revolution XC's welterweight title! He is very good at boxing but also likes bringing it to the ground and collecting his opponents' limbs, causing them to tap-out! Luiz's best discipline is also boxing but he feels comfortable when squeezing his enemies in the death catch of his exceptional clinchwork! We should be expecting a classic boxing fight, with both fighters looking to surprise one-another whether in the clinch or on the ground! My prediction is Chavez coming out of the cage victorious.

Royal Pain "In the Ass" vs Royce "Disgrace" Disgracie  155 lbs.

Next fight on our schedule presents you an interesting clash between The Island Combat 155 lbs. champion, Royal Pain, and Revolution XC's 135 lbs. champion, Royce Disgracie, who decided to try his abilities in a heavier category! As we said, Mr. Pain became very famous for his performances at The Island. He is a 20 year old Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu specialist, scoring the impressive 11 submission wins so far. Against him we have the 27 year old "Disgrace" who is a very good boxer but a bit susceptible to submission losses, having received three on row in his last three fights. Both fighters would have something to prove in this battle - Disgracie will try to end his losing streak while Royal Pain needs to show that he is still capable after losing two title fights against Nate Gonzalez. We should also take into account Royal Pain's much bigger body - he is 18cm taller and 31 lbs heavier! Very interesting battle, with my prediction going for Mr. Pain playing his AC/DC song in the end!

"Rock Em Sock Em" Rockford Knight vs "El Desperado" Escobar De Vega  265+ lbs.

Coming next is an exciting fight between two heavy MMA veterans with a total of 78 professional fights! First let me introduce you the 39 year old millionaire from Portland, Rockford Knight! Against him, at the age of 36, coming from the far and beautiful Las Palmas, the one they call "El Desperado", Escobar De Vega! Both fighters are new additions to Revolution XC's roster and they are extremely hungry to provide and prove themselves in front of the demanding spectators! "Rock Em Sock Em" is an exceptional stand-up fighter, combining his strong punches with flashy leg kicks for achieving 28 KOs so far! Same could be said for De Vega, but his ground game deserves many superlatives too and maybe there hides his chance for winning this! Another anticipated battle, brought to you by Revolution XC, where I am expecting Rockford Knight to showcase his experience and abilities by scoring a victory.

Kyle Long vs Dmitri "One Shot" Zaitsev  265 lbs.

In an exciting heavyweight clash, The Island veteran Kyle Long goes against the 21 year old Russian prodigy, Dmitri "One Shot" Zaitsev! Long, 27 year old from the US, is a dirty and very good clincher. He has a 13-7 record, winning everything by a KO! For him should be said that he did impressive in Island Combat org. but then failed to provide in the final Island tournament. Against him, we have an exceptional youngster who is making his first steps in the professional MMA. Those steps may be slow, but they look very sure - an early punch KO victory in his only pro fight. "One Shot" has very impressive body build, and has spent a lot of time training and preparing for his moment to come. Another proficient clinch specialist, Zaitsev would probably be too prepared for Kyle Long and win his Revolution XC debut!

Gleb Zheglov vs John "Nobody" Doe  205 lbs.

Next fight in the schedule is a classic, a fairytale "David vs. Goliath" fight! The small guy in it will be the 27 year old and 183 cm tall Gleb Zheglov, coming from the cold Moscow, Russia. The giant against him, standing enormous at 225 cm tall, at the age of 26 will be John "Nobody" Doe from Craplanta, USA. Both fighters will be looking for their first win at Revolution XC, while Mr. "Nobody" will be on his debut fight for the org. Zheglov comes into the fight as a very good boxer, achieving 12 KOs in his 12 pro wins, and is a fighter who prefers striking from distance. His towering opponent is still undefeated in his pro career. John Doe is someone who feels comfortable fighting on the ground, which should be easy for him in the fight, taking his enormous size advantage into consideration. A fight with a very unpredictable outcome, but I think that Zheglov's experience would help him to win.

Nate "Ninja" Diaz vs Alastair Dunn  170 lbs.

The next fight presents us two Revolution XC debutants. The 25 year old Nate Diaz, who has 3 QFC wins prior to this fight, stands undefeated in his pro MMA career. Against him, we will be seeing a very impressive 20 year old youngster - Alastair Dunn from Canada. Dunn has already won some popularity, having a 4-2 pro record and achieving 4 wins by KOs. He is an exceptional wrestler and ground fighter, who excels in the ground'n'pound game. Diaz is a ground fighter too, but he seems to focus more on submission attempts. My prediction is that Dunn's wrestling ability will be too much for a newcomer like the "Ninja".

D'Wayne "Crips" Williams vs David "Kiss Ya Mamma" Shanna  155 lbs.

Oh boy, how excited am I to see two youngsters clashing and looking to pave their way to the big fame, glory and the big money! 20 year old D'Wayne Williams go against 18 year old RXC debutant David Shanna. "Crips" has proved himself as an exceptional talent, who uses his punching abilities very efficiently. "Kiss Ya Mamma" is more of an all-rounder, who likes both striking from distance and going to the ground. I think that Williams' potential and ability will see him through this fight.

Jordan Kandle vs Jerry Smith  185 lbs.

The opening fight of the evening will show us two fighters who will be battling to achieve their first RXC victory! The 21 year old Jordan Kandle is a debutant at the org. who likes to lead the fights at the mat, using mostly ground strikes. Against him, the 25 year old Jerry Smith, who already lost his RXC debut against Kaedo Neal, Smith is a mixture between a decent boxer and BJJ specialist. Hard to predict the result of this fight but I have a feeling that Smith is the more skilled fighter.
