Island Icons

Hey folks, Rocco here with my first ever preview. This event will crown the First Featherweight and Heavyweight divisions on Revolution Island, as Roman Francis takes on Erikson Fry and Ezekiel Curtis will look to score another first round knockout against “Wwe Super Star” Brock Lesnar. The Underground has got plenty to look forward to as Revolution Island brings 10 action packed fights to the fans who somehow got to the Island without dying at the hands and fangs of the several dangerous animals that inherit the Island.

Fight 1-Mitch Bond vs Petar Marinov

Marinov wasn’t too impressive in his Island debut, but Bond managed to score fight of the night in his debut. Both have impressive striking at their disposal, and I see this fight going the distance with Bond having a slight edge.

Bond via Unanimous Decision

Fight 2-Miko Dimelo vs Baked Ziti Esposito

This is the debut of the Middleweight Dimelo, as he takes on Esposito, who Layne Staley submitted within 2 minutes. Baked has the edge in stand up and wrestling and Dimelo has a definitive edge in Muay Thai. Both are Blue Belts in BJJ. I’m not too sure whether Esposito has the skills to pay the bills, but takedowns might be where he wins this.

Esposito via Unanimous Decision

Fight 3-Rhea Garcia Jr vs Kameron Kulina

Another battle between a 0-1 fighter taking on a debuting prospect. However, unlike the last fight, I think the debuting fighter has this one. Both have really great striking, but Kulina has better wrestling and better standup, and I predict a finish here.

Kulina via KO Punches Round 1

Fight 4-Iggy Izeal vs Taco Stiffy

Sigh...Taco. I don’t think there will ever be another Taco Stiffy unless he lays an egg and hatches a clone. His record might not look amazing at 1-1, but he has contributed a significant amount to the Island, Including “Talk to Taco.” Izeal, who is 1-2, is definitely a Muay Thai expert, but I see Taco getting an easy win here.

Stiffy via Submission Arm-Triangle Round 1

Fight 5-Artiom Logaczow vs Chris Wong

This is the easiest fight on the card for me to predict. While I don’t think any fight is guaranteed, I see this playing out like this; Logaczow gets a huge takedown, Wong locks in Guillotine, Artiom taps out, 24 seconds. I’ll bet an imaginary $5 dollars.

Wong via Submission Guillotine Round 1 (0:24)

Fight 6-Marcellus Alexander vs Kevin Ontario

Everything about this fight screams squash for Alexander. He’s in the red corner, He’s good looking, he’s got foreign marketability, and his opponent’s nickname is “The Cheese.” However, take away the the superficial crap and I see this going another way. Yes Alexander is a wonderful wrestler, but being a white belt and going to the ground with a Blue belt isn’t a wonderful idea, and he can’t win this on the feet either. I think Ontario is going to handle this before the final bell.

Ontario via TKO Punches Round 3

Fight 7-RJ MacReady vs Layne Staley

I love this fight. Both of these guys are 1-0, and they both shined at Revolution Island Night 1. I love both as characters and I love both as competitors. Unfortunately, only one can win. I see Staley winning this one, as his takedowns are going to get his in better positions and his Purple belt isn’t for show. Hopefully RJ doesn’t use a flamethrower in this fight. That’s the only thing I know about the movie “The Thing.”

Staley via Submission Armbar round 1

Fight 8-Roman Francis vs Erikson Fry

“The Last Viking” seems to be a terribly underrated competitor. His chubby face and awful looking tattoos make him seem like a goof. However, he’s strong as an ox, and what he lacks in finishing power he makes up for in pure pressure. Francis has gotten all 4 of his wins within the Islands QFC system, and all of his victories have been via first round (T)KO. However, I see Fry getting a finish via either late knockout or decision via pressure and clinch domination. Coin flip...it landed on tails so I guess decision.

Fry via Unanimous Decision

Fight 9-Hank Henshaw vs Blast Knobpunch

This fight feels like it’s going to be a showcase fight for Henshaw. “Suntan Superman” is real damn popular on the Island, and Blast looks to be his first target. He could win, as nothing in MMA is guaranteed, but I think Henshaw is going to get the win within the first round.

Henshaw via Submission Triangle Round 1

Fight 10-Ezekiel Curtis vs Brock Lesnar

The younger brother of Isaac Curtis, Ezekiel seems like a lovable blue collar guy. He’s fighting one of the many Brock Lesnar clones in the game. Broke Kayfabe there. These two are 8-0 all together and this has potential to be the fight of the night. However, I see Curtis getting a quick KO and winning The first Featherweight belt in Revolution Island.

Curtis via KO Head Kick Round 1
