HMMA 24 Okamoto vs Hogan

Hello everyone welcome to the big time, this Saturday on 8/4/2012 HMM A brings to the world one of the biggest night of fights in history, we expect 7000 to fill Camden Conference Center for a night of the most epic fights we have seen yet, some of the biggest names are coming out to play shall we see who they are?

MAIN EVENT

Hunter Hearst Hogan (14-8)  v  The Golden Saint" Takeo Okamoto (7-0)                205 lbs title

The light heavyweight division has been passing around the title like a stripper passes out herpes.  Tonight Takeo Okamoto looks to defend his championship for the 2nd time and start one of the greatest runs in the history of HMMA’s light heavyweight division, both Okamoto and Hogan are making there 3rd appearance for  HMMA, Who will walk away with gold around there waist, will the champ retain his title, or will the challenger take it from him?  I caught up with Hunter in the locker room earlier and asked him how he felt about the coming fight,  he told me in his last fight he didn’t perform well with his GNP and he has been training it hard, come fight time Okamoto will see how hard he has trained it.  He also said he feels very comfortable and excited heading into this fight.  I asked him for a prediction and he said, if I can get this fight to the ground I gonna walk out with the light heavyweight title around my waist, if Okamoto keeps the fight standing he will keep his title…..THERE YOU HAVE it folks as for my prediction..i will agree with Hogan.

CO-MAIN EVENT

 Jesus Rios (24-8) v  Martez Cortega  (6-1)

Once again the 205lbers take center stage in a battle between former HMMA light heavyweight champion Jesus Rios, and former challenger Martez Cortega, no doubt both of these fighters are looking to get back into the title picture.   After a perfect start to his career Cortega stepped into the HMMA cage and in his first appearance took on newly crowned light heavyweight champion Takeo Okamoto who handed Cortega his first loss.  In his 2nd appearance he gets to fight the former champion Jesus Rios, the well rounded Cortega will have more options fight time, with equal wins by submission and TKO.  Rios on the other hand will look to do what he does best stand and bang with Cortega and see if his chin can hold up.   I have a feeling both of these fighters would like a little revenge against the current champion Okamoto after Okamoto took the title from Rios, and handed Cortega his first loss.  The winner of this fight will put themselves closer to getting a little revenge on the champion.

Prediction:  Very close and even fight, ill take Cortega late.

MAIN CARD

"The African Assasin" Ayila Obasi (9-2)  v  Lasi "The Draw" Kukko(22-9)    185 lbs title

The next fight we have is a middleweight championship bout, between Lasi Kukko, and Ayila Obasi, wow, I don’t even know how to say either of those names, its going to be a long night cage side trying to figure that out, I hope I don’t make a fool of myself!  In Kukko’s last fight and first inside HMMA cage he took on long time middleweight champion, and recent inductee into the HoF Boing Sparbot, in winning that fight he because the champion  and the hype train took off.  Ayila Obasi came to HMMA in early may and immediately threw out his name for a chance at the title, he first asked for a tune up match, and then another, after winning two straight he felt he was ready to take on the champion, with 9 wins to his resume its no secret what “The African Assasin” will  be bringing to the table on Saturday, the only question is can Kukko keep the fight where he wants and put an end the the slick submissions of Obasi.

Prediction, Kukko by TKO in the 2nd

French Toast (10-1) v  Norman Steel (5-1)              265 lbs title

WOW you know it’s a good card if these two guys are on it, ladies and gentlemen Hall of Famer French Toast is in the building, taking on Norman Steel for his Heavyweight crown, After pulling off 10 straight victories inside the cage Toast was on the verge of being one of the biggest names in the sport, but then what many are calling a fluke loss by a passer byer from another weight class superfight occurred, now Toast looks to get back on his winning ways in fighting the ultra tough Norman Steel.  Steel could quite possibly be the sekiest fighter in the world with world class boxing its not doubt he will be looking to punch Toast in the face and see if he can put him to sleep, Toast on the other hand will look to showcase that amazing wrestling and GNP can the longtime champion keep the belt or will Steel start a new era in HMMA?

Carlton”Razor” Robinson(19-6)  v  Thomas”Priceless” Price  (9-3)                155 lbs title

Next we have a lightweight title fight between longtime champion Carlton Robinson, and Thomas “Priceless” Price Robinson looks to defend his title for the 3rd time against what could turn out to be a tougher test then what it seems on paper, “Priceless” is coming in from the middleweight division, dropping weight all the way down to 155 for this fight after a huge win in which he was a big big underdog.  I talked to Price earlier and he said, “In my last fight I was a  heavy underdog, no one believed I could win, my coaches didn’t want me to take the fight, but I believe in my abilities, I went out there and I knocked him out, I used that to propel myself to this fight, once again im a huge underdog and once again I will find a way to win, im well rounded ill find a way when the time comes.” I asked Price if that meant he planned on taking the fight to the ground and he didn’t answer…..he would be smart too, “Razor” Robinson is an elite boxer with the power to put price to  sleep.

Prediction: Robinson KO

Antonio “Tony Thrill” Trillanes (12-4)  v  Dragos “Fire” Ilie  (11-7)

Here we go again with two top notch light heavyweight fighters looking to get into contention for the championship.  Trillanes started the 205lbs championship seasaw when he defeated long time champion Fu Manchu earlier this year, unable to successfully defend his title against Jesus Rios he now looks to get back into contention against a very game Dragos.  Dragos will be looking to get the muy thai practitioner on his back and defend his GNP, “Tony Thrill” no doubt will be looking for the knock out.  This is another big 205 fight that has title implications all over it.

Gabriel Bandeira Jr (4-0)  v  Chris Hansen  (10-4)

Gabriel Bandeira Jr has spent the past several months calling out the champion French Toast with every opportunity he has gotten. Saturday night if he wins you can expect him to do so once again,  He feels he Is the rightful #1 contender and he has what it takes to beat the champion.   The champion has been outspoken in saying Bandeira doesn’t have what it takes to beat him.  Saturday night Bandeira looks to prove once again he has the skills necessary to contend for the heavyweight championship when he takes on former contender Chris Hansen.  Hansen fresh off a victory following a title loss to the champion is also looking to get back into the mix, on thing is for sure the winner of this fight will make a statement to all of HMMA heavyweight division that they are not to be taken lightly.  Both guys  are well rounded who takes the step forward?

Prediction:  I like Bandeira in a close decision win here.
