NFC 78: Christainson vs Jun

Main Event

205lbs (Title Fight)

Gabe Christianson Keio Jun

Gabe is coming into this as the favourite but will have to be cautious of NFC vetern Keoi. It will be very interesting seeing where this fight takes place, we could see a war if this fight stays standing with both fighters having KO power in their hands and both fighters have been KO'd before in their MMA careers. Gabe is extremely flexible and I'm sure this will definitely help he should this fight end up on the ground.

My Prediction: Gabe Christianson via TKO/KO.

Co-Main Event

265lbs (Title Fight)

Shane Luger Mark Kyle

Shane's got what he wanted, a second title shot after failing to win the last time against Antonio Hong who decided to vacate his title to challenge for the 185lbs title. Shane's a really determined fighter and he wants this title and it looks like he's willing to do anything to win it. Unfortunately for him he got cut early in his last fight which really didn't help his cause. He'll be hoping that in this fight, he wont suffer any cuts and that everything goes to plan so that he'll be the one walking out of the cage at the end of the fight with the title belt around his waist. Mark Kyle is the man that is standing between Shane and the 265lbs title. Mark's coming 7 straight wins in his MMA career and will no doubt be full of confidence come NFC 78. He's got a granite chin and in his MMA career to date he hasn't once been put to sleep, perhaps this may change when he faces Shane Luger. I believe Shane has the advantage in the standup though it is only a slight advantage and I believe that Mark is the stronger fighter on the ground.

My Prediction: Mark Kyle via TKO.

Main Card

205lbs

Artie Lange Makao Matsumoto

Whoever wins this fight will fight themselves a step closer to getting a title shot. Artie put an end to his losing streak when he KO'd Jimmy Jabara at NFC 74 and he'll be looking to add another name to the list of fighters who he's beat. Makao will be looking to try and get back to winning ways, having lost his previous 2 fights. Both fighters very rarely go the distance in their fight, so it looks like we could have another finish at NFC 78. Artie has never been submitted but he has also never faced a BJJ black belt, Makao will be the first fighter that Artie has faced who has a black belt in BJJ so Artie will have to be very careful should this fight end up on the ground. Makao will have to be cautious in the standup with all but 1 of Artie Lange's wins coming via TKO/KO.

My Prediction: Makao Matsumoto via Submission.

Main Card

14lbs

Alexio Silva Anastazy Kojras

Submission specialist Alexio Silva will be hoping to add another submission victory to his list of wins when he faces Anastazy Kojras at NFC 78. This is not the first time these 145lbs fighters have fought in NFC, they had previously fought at NFC 63 where Alexio Silva was successful in getting a submission victory. Anastazy did well at NFC 63 controlling Alexio in the clinch but unfortunately didn't manage to connect with many strikes while in the clinch. Anastazy was a lot more successful in the clinch in his last fight, so Alexio will have to be cautious of his clinch game and no doubt will be looking to avoid his clinch. Anastazy will be looking to keep this fight standing to avoid the skills of BJJ black belt Alexio Silva. I have a feeling that history will repeat itself at NFC 78 and we will see another submission victory for Alexio Silva.

My Prediction: Alexio Silva via Submission.

Other fights on the card:

Alex De Paiva Santos Jimmy Jabara (205lbs)

Neho Kipei Justin Galloway (205lbs)

Adem Jashari Anton LaVey (205lbs)

Sagat Bossman AnthonyH Moreno (185lbs)

Salvatore Lucania Miguel Quesada (265lbs)

Joe Jacobs Darth Penguin (205lbs)

Thanks for reading and good luck to all the fighters at NFC 78!
