 AMSTERDAM - There is a clothing store in Amsterdam that has a owner that plans on keeping fighters dressed in style. The store was once known as ORANJE, but previous owner Wilson Thieatcres decided to sell and do other things. New owner Chad Didion took on the store with limited knowledge of the industry, but plans on making the store even bigger then it was.
"Wilson had this store booming, he was a great owner, he handed me some great designs, but I want to reach new heights." says Didion. Mr. Didion spends many hours a day, sometimes getting to his office at 5 am and not leaving until 10 or 11 pm. "Days are long, but you have to put in the work." The days are filled with searching for new fighters to sponsor, looking for designers to create a logo and clothes. Not to mention the stocking and re-ordering of clothing. Owning a clothing store in the MMA Tycoon world is tough. Not only do you have to increase your stores hype, but you must try and create designs that are different and priced just right to move off your shelves. It's important to also get a working deal with a good organization so your store can sell merchandise at that organizations events. "I had a good deal go bad when I took on the store. A good deal for the previous owner, but I soon learned it was a inactive organization that stopped scheduling events. It's no good to be a merchandise partner with a organization that doesn't put on fights." snickers Didion. One of the first things that Mr.Didion worked on after purchasing the company was to search for a good organization. After another failed attempt, UFG finally found a org that fit. On July 1st, 2012 UFG and the NGF (New Generation Fighters) partnered up. The two have already had 5 events and NGF has 11 more scheduled over the next few months. "I am extremely happy with the partnership. All you can ask for is a good, active organization and that's what NGF is. I feel they...we are going to be huge by the end of 2013." says Didion.
UFG and Mr. Didion then worked on finding new and fresh designs. That also has had some trials. "I wanted a new and fresh logo, that's was my top priority." The company took on a whole new name change and added a temporary logo. Within days of the sale, Didion changed the company name from ORANJE to Ultimate Fighting Gear. Then the new logo and a few designs that use the UFG logo and name. Didion who holds nothing back then says things got a little nasty. "I looked for someone who would design a logo and some shirts and shorts. I was contacted by someone that said they could do this, gave me a price and then when I told them it would be hard to come up with that, they told me they would do a package deal for me...THEY TOLD ME, I didn't ask them, I didn't bring it up, this guy told me. So of course I agreed. I get a decent logo and 3 terrible designs. Then this guy wants to blame me for HIM taking on the job. Man, all I did was pay money for designs that in no way would move off my shelves. I am using one design now and it hasn't sold a single time."
One thing is for sure about this company and it's owner, average just isn't good enough. "I want a great store, I want great products and I want to sponsor great fighters. I won't stop or be satisfied with average." says Didion. With a list of very good fighters already sponsored like "Sky High" Sativa Sensei (17-5) and "the name is" John Saunders(10-0-1) and a host of young, promising fighter such as Gabriel Bandeira Jr (5-0-0), Arthur Pirozhkov (5-0-0), Nick Cave (5-0-0), Adam Yauch (2-0-0), and Zach Didion (2-2-0) proves that this clothing company is primed for greatness.
"I'm looking for great fighters. I want to sponsor them. I want to sell great clothes. I want your business and I want to have this store go right to the top." says a excited Chad Didion.
