 February 2018 recap part 1

By Alika Webb           UGD 98:Man Vs Keenan – 2 February           155 superfight - Fook Man (Underground) Vs Gareth Keenan (GAMMA)       Slough’s pride and joy is on a warpath and with global domination in sight there is no stopping Gareth Keenan. Still, Japanese warrior Fook "Mi" Man was willing to give it a shot. What followed was a tit for tat technical brawl that spilled all over the cage. The metal groaned to contain these gladiators as they battled with brain instead of brawn. Gareth Keenan took the initiative and never let his goal out of sight while Fook "Mi" Man was constantly in pursuit. The race was run and the man who finished first was Gamma featherweight champion Gareth Keenan.       Winner: Gareth Keenan by unanimous decision.            GAMMA#689 Bubba v Hoyce – 3 February            265+ title - Bubba Gumption (c) Vs Hennan Hoyce        Bubba "Shrimpin" Gumption has been a dominant force in the super heavyweight division while Hennan Hoyce reigned the heavyweight division with an iron fist. With the heavyweight title being abolished, two colossal champions collided to unite the heavyweight and super heavyweight title and crown the true king of the heavyweights.       With two mastodons colliding in the cage, people expected fireworks but nobody expected this brawl between two elite strikers to end so quickly. With another dominant performance, Bubba Gumption floated like an astronaut in zero gravity and stung like a meteorite crashing into the earth. An explosion of strikes bombarded Hennan Hoyce with deadly accuracy while Bubba Gumption saw Gamma’s last super heavyweight champion hit nothing but air.        Winner: Bubba Gumption by TKO (strikes) after 49 seconds in the first round.            GAMMA#690 Shin v Volkov 4 – 3 February           170 title - Lao Shin (c) Vs Ilya Mstislav Volkov       For the fourth time these welterweight warriors fought and once again they did everything in their power to be victorious. In a welterweight soap opera, some things are so good one can’t help but repeat them. Ilya Mstislav Volkov won their first encounter while Lao Shin took home the following two wins and then some. With burning passion in their hearts and a new game plan in mind they were set to face a familiar foe.        While these welterweight legends brawled their way to a decision, this fight was so wild and chaotic it actually spilled all over the cage. Ilya Mstislav Volkov blasted the champion with an armada of fiery blows while Lao Shin traded back in kind, the fans were on their feet from a heated confrontation that left them hanging for more. A brawl from start to finish where neither man refused to give in.        Winner: Ilya Mstislav Volkov by unanimous decision.            GAMMA#691 Defoe v Boyka – 10 February           185 superfight - Saul Goodman (GAMMA) Vs Danny Seagram (Underground)       After slipping the jab against Jutta Hanolla in a middleweight title fight, newly crowned champion Saul Goodman once again found himself racing on the super fight highway and what a race to the finish this was as Underground middleweight champion Danny "The Diamond" Seagram went full throttle right from the start. No matter how fast the Underground underdog went, Gamma’s middleweight rock star went above and beyond his own capabilities and got an abundance of speeding tickets to prove it as his punches and kicks were flashing by so fast they nearly broke the speed of light. It was a race to the finish and while it was a close finish, only one man could be crowned the winner.        Winner: Saul Goodman by split decision.            205 title - Menace Defoe (c) Vs Yuri Boyka       Considered by many as one of the top pound for pound fighters on the planet, Menace Defoe has been on a tear lately and with only a hiccup of a loss against Alex John Conor Burns staining his record since the summer of 2017, he has been the most envious light heavyweight fighter in the whole division. In that most enjoyable position he has the leverage to pick whatever opponent he feels like and yet instead of choosing to elevate his own stock with an abundance of super fights or picking easy opponents so he can prolong his stay at the top, he willingly takes on the best challengers around. He is a true man’s man, a rough and tumble brawler with a burning passion in his heart that captures the heart of the crowd and lights the roof on fire. The men would to be him and the women would love to be with him. He doesn’t back down from a challenge and the people love him for it and that’s why he is known as the people’s champion.        Who would be willing to risk getting lynched on his way to the cage with the promise of nothing but sheer brutality on the other side of the fence? Why, that man would be no other than Yuri Boyka. Yuri "Hands Of Stone" Boyka has been steadily climbing up the rankings and good things come for those who wait. Gamma management complimented the good boy and then some by offering him a title fight against the man of the hour and the most electrifying champion in the MMATycoon universe, Menace Defoe. Would Yuri Boyka be able to handle the pressure in the biggest fight of his life or would he surpass the heart of the champion with his own heart, the heart of a lion perhaps?        The fight started and a flustered Yuri Boyka came in reaching with a sloppy jab but nearly got his head kicked off as Menace Defoe saw it coming from a mile away. The champion stormed the nervous challenger with a dangerous combination that hit nothing but air but kept fueling the fire. A nice hook to the body shook Yuri Boyka to his core and awoke the beast inside of him. Nervous jitters lost, Yuri Boyka traded back in kind and pounded the flesh of the champion with a thundering hook to the body. It was clear that he was not gonna take it, no he wasn’t going to take it anymore. He was done being the bully victim, it was time for him to embrace his inner bully and kick some serious ass. Yuri Boyka swung with brute force but his accuracy was lacking and as he threw a follow-up combination he nearly got countered by the champion. But the body blow the champion had in mind as a counter was quickly brushed out of his mind with a lightning fast swift head kick from the challenger that drew first blood. The sight of his own blood - the scarlet liquid of life oozing out of his skull - dripping in his eyes had the champion seeing red. Red with unbridled and explosive fury. Borderline inappropriate for a legitimate athlete, Menace Defoe walked the path of war and started to wreak havoc and mayhem with dangerous punches and brutal kicks that were thrown with only destruction in mind. The challenger did his best to ride the storm but his first attempt to stop to oncoming onslaught had seemingly no effect. Another attempt to blow the fuse however had all the makings of a total blackout. A right hand from the heavens clipped the champion and saw Menace Defoe take a strategic withdrawal from the fight but Yuri "Hands Of Stone" Boyka has the finishing instinct of a primeval predator and felt that his moment of glory was near so he launched a rocket of head kick that nearly sent Menace Defoe’s head flying to the moon.        After tumbling to the mat, Menace Defoe was allowed to stand back up again and while that gave him a much needed second wind, he still had to clear the cobwebs and with a hungry tiger on the prowl in the form of challenger Yuri Boyka, the champion clearly found himself in quite a tricky situation. Even while dazed and confused the spirit of Menace Defoe was unbent and unbroken. Menace Defoe continued to be the attacker but he did so with controlled fury and aggression. Menace Defoe kept focusing on putting his challenger on the defensive but didn’t go in for the kill, his bruised ego made sure of that. Meanwhile the challenger didn’t take it easy, Yuri Boyka made sure not to get hit with a stinger from the champion and when opportunity came knocking he kept launching shot guns of kicks and punches with a determination for a finish that left nothing to the imagination of the thousands of fans in attendance and the millions watching at home.        The second round started and while the body of Menace Defoe was burning with red hot fury, the fog had cleared in his mind and like a lake in the middle of nowhere with not a sign of modern life for miles, tranquility reigned supreme. A focused mind and a body blazing with a passion for annihilation were his tools but would they be enough to obliterate this foe standing in front of him? A jab to the body of the challenger struck its mark and had the challenger stumbling backwards in complete shock as the champion didn’t move an inch. No way he was falling for that again, Menace Defoe would not go in for the kill again so soon after just getting caught. Yuri Boyka was outraged and desperate to gain back some momentum so he upped the ante and started throwing a series of bombs that thundered throughout the arena but the immovable object named Menace Defoe was headstrong in his resolve not to stray from his path again. Yuri Boyka was caught napping in his desperate struggle for control as a three punch combination sliced him open. Blood dripping from his cut made the desperation grow worse as Yuri Boyka continued fighting with slaughter in mind. Inspired by the passion of his opponent and the growing fury inside himself proved too much to handle for the champion as he started trading back in kind. Two men standing toe to toe in the middle of the cage started whaling on each other, the roaring of the crowd was deafening but even thousands of screaming voices couldn’t tower over those exploding punches and kicks thrown out of pure and unadulterated hatred. The madness stopped instantly as a three punch combination dropped Yuri Boyka to the canvas.        Staring at the hulking figure before him, Yuri Boyka got back up on his feet and wanted to continue blasting the champion until only one man was left standing but Menace Defoe had another plan in mind. His fury tempered by the satisfaction of hurting the challenger so badly his legs couldn’t support him anymore was enough and with his mind now more clear than ever before, he continued an effective aggressive campaign of brutal strikes that kept the challenger guessing while keeping his emotions in check. Yuri Boyka did his best but there was no turning the tides as the tsunami named Menace Defoe steadily walsed all over the challenger.        Winner: Menace Defoe by unanimous decision.
