HFC Tournament Semi Finals

Editorial by Outlaw Bleak

 HFC Tournament Round 3 Review

Hey HARDCORE MMA fans!   We are getting down to the semi finals in almost all weight classes.  There were some great fights tonight, so lets get a quick recap.   170 Division (Quarter Finals)
Hamada vs Vovigton   Vovigton got the fight to the ground, but wasn't able to capitalize.  He clearly had no answer for Hamada's stand up game, and Hamada dominated the fight in that area.  2:57 seconds into the first round, Hamada wins via TKO and advances on to the semi finals to face Payakaroon.   Minister vs Hammer   Also biding for a spot in the semi final round of the 170 tournament, Hammer and Minister find themselves squaring off for the final spot. Hammer came into this fight with an impressive 7-1 record and looking to walk through Minister on his way to the semi final round.  Minister has already been down, but he wasn't going out and he fought his ass off to stay alive in this tournament.     Needing only 1:52 into the first round, Minister sent Hammer packing with some vicious ground and pound after a brutal right sent Hammer thudding to the ground.  I guess you could say that Hammer got nailed..  yeah, yeah, I know.. but it sounded better in my head, I promise.   Minister advances to the semi final round to take on Toni Montana.   145 Division (Semi Finals)
Patterson vs Petrov   Both fighters have already suffered a loss and are fighting to stay alive in this double elimination tournament.   And the bell rang to start the fight.. oh look, it's over!   Yeah, that's right, Preston Patterson came out like a man possessed and put a quick end to Petrov's night with a guillotine in only 18 seconds.  Excellent finish, and well deserved win.   Patterson called out the champ after his victory, and if he defeats Gilchrist in the finals, the fighter who beat him earlier in this tournament, then he will certainly earn that shot at the gold against Havoc.   135 Division (Semi Finals)
Stenburg vs Dunn   These two fighters are both proven winners and have dominated their opponents so far through this tournament.  Each fighter with a legit shot at winning this thing, we knew this was going to be an exciting fight.   Stenburg opened the fight in the clinch, stuffed a couple of takedowns, and then dropped Dunn and smothered him with loving fists until the ref could jump in and save the fight.  It was a lengthy 20 seconds into the first round, but hey, who's counting?   Stenburg will be facing Bataglia in the upcoming finals.   205 Division (Semi Finals)
Van Barle vs Manzov   I don't know why I want to call Manzov dirty, but somehow, Dirty Manzov just seems to fit..    Another semi final matchup featuring a clinch fighter in Barle vs a striker in Manzov.  Manzov looked good, but once the fight went into the clinch, Van Barle was able to dominate.  Also showing some great low kicks, Van Barle was just too much for Manzov to handle as he ended the fight with a nasty Knee from the clinch 3:49 into the first round.   Van Barle will be facing Sugawara in the upcoming finals.   Not in tournament   Von Ryan vs Eye   Ryan did a good job at mixing up his blows, and was very accurate, but Eye was by far the more aggressive fighter in this bout.  Unfortunately for Eye, Von Ryan's patience paid off at the tail end of the second round when he caught Eye in a well executed triangle, forcing the tap out. Waller vs Bisping   Original HFC champion, Jack Waller, versus rising star Bisping from the SMASH roster slugging it out for the first time under the new HFC.  It took every second of every round to determine this fight as both fighters showed why they are a step ahead of the masses.   In the end, Waller's aggression paid off has he landed far more strikes than Bisping, and really dominated the fight in the clinch.  Waller wins by unanimous decision.   Main Event: Title Fight
Barbosa vs Rocketfingers   Barbosa off a fresh off a victory claiming the belt again, Rocketfingers a confident brawler from the original HFC.  These two warriors headlined the event tonight, despite not being in the tournament, and the fans loved them for it!   The champ, Barbosa, comes in wearing the gold that is backed by his 7-1 record.  The challenger, a young up and comer sitting at 2-0, is hungry and stepped up to the plate when given a shot at the belt.  He knew he was the underdog, but that's never stopped him before, and it didn't stop him tonight.     Unfortunately, even though being an underdog didn't stop Rocketfingers, Barbosa did.  He was perfect in his striking landing every single strike hew threw at the hapless Rocketfingers.  Rocket tried to get the fight to the ground, but Barbosa wasn't about to let that happen.   43 seconds into the first round, Barbosa retained his lightweight title by way of a nasty right hook and subsequent barrage of ground and pound on the downed fighter.   Excellent TKO victory for the champ, is there any man in this division that can stand in his way?  If you can, call him out!
